ஆதியாகமம் 7:4
இன்னும் ஏழுநாள் சென்றபின்பு, நாற்பதுநாள் இரவும் பகலும் பூமியின்மேல் மழையை வருஷிக்கப்பண்ணி, நான் உண்டாக்கின ஜீவஜந்துக்கள் அனைத்தையும் பூமியின்மேல் இராதபடி நிக்கிரகம் பண்ணுவேன் என்றார்.

இன்னும் ஏழுநாட்கள் சென்றபின்பு, நாற்பது நாட்கள் இரவும் பகலும் பூமியின்மேல் மழையைப் பெய்யச்செய்து, நான் உண்டாக்கின உயிரினங்கள் அனைத்தையும் பூமியின்மேல் இல்லாமல் அழித்துப்போடுவேன் என்றார்.

இன்றிலிருந்து ஏழு நாட்களானதும் பூமியில் பெருமழை பொழியச் செய்வேன். 40 இரவும் 40 பகலுமாக தொடர்ந்து மழை பொழியும். உலகில் வாழும் அனைத்து உயிர்களும் அழிந்துபோகும். என்னால் படைக்கப்பட்ட அனைத்தும் அழியும்” என்றார்.

seven שִׁבְעָ֗ה šebaʿ sheh-VA
and I אָֽנֹכִי֙ ʾānōkî ah-noh-HEE
will cause it to rain מַמְטִ֣יר māṭar ma-TAHR
upon עַל ʿal al
the earth הָאָ֔רֶץ ʾereṣ eh-RETS
forty אַרְבָּעִ֣ים ʾarbāʿîm ar-ba-EEM
days י֔וֹם yôm yome
and forty וְאַרְבָּעִ֖ים ʾarbāʿîm ar-ba-EEM
nights; לָ֑יְלָה layil la-YEEL
will I destroy וּמָחִ֗יתִי māḥâ ma-HA
and אֶֽת ʾēt ate
every כָּל kōl kole
living substance הַיְקוּם֙ yĕqûm yeh-KOOM
that אֲשֶׁ֣ר ʾăšer uh-SHER
I have made עָשִׂ֔יתִי ʿāśâ ah-SA
from off מֵעַ֖ל ʿal al
the face פְּנֵ֥י pānîm pa-NEEM
