2 நாளாகமம் 25:19
நீ ஏதோமியரை அடித்தாய் என்று பெருமைபாராட்ட உன் இருதயம் உன்னைக் கர்வங்கொள்ளப்பண்ணினது; இப்போதும் நீ உன் வீட்டிலே இரு; நீயும் உன்னோடே யூதாவும்கூட விழும்படிக்கு, பொல்லாப்பைத் தேடிக்கொள்வானேன் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னான்.

நீ ஏதோமியர்களை அடித்தாய் என்று பெருமைபாராட்ட உன் இருதயம் உன்னைக் கர்வங்கொள்ளச் செய்தது; இப்போதும் நீ உன் வீட்டிலே இரு; நீயும் உன்னோடு யூதாவும் விழுவதற்காக, பொல்லாப்பை ஏன் தேடிக்கொள்ளவேண்டும் என்று சொல்லச் சொன்னான்.

நீ உனக்குள்ளே, ‘நான் ஏதோமியரை வென்றிருக்கிறேன்’ என்று கூறுகிறாய். அதற்காக நீ பெருமைப்படுகிறாய். ஆனால் நீ உன் வீட்டிலேயே இரு. நீ துன்பத்தில் சிக்கிக்கொள்ள வேண்டிய தேவையில்லை. என்னிடம் போரிட வந்தால் நீயும், யூதாவும் அழிந்துப்போவீர்கள்” என்று சொல்லி அனுப்பினான்.

ஏதோமை நீர் முறியடித்ததனால், உம் இதயம் தற்பெருமை கொண்டு எழுகிறது; இப்பொழுது நீர் உம் வீட்டிலேயே இரும்! நீரும் உம்மோடு யூதாவும் வீழ்ச்சியுறும்படி, தீமையை நீர் ஏன் தேடிக்கொள்ள வேண்டும்?” என்று பதிலளித்தான்.⒫

thou hast smitten הִכִּ֙יתָ֙ nākâ na-HA
אֶת ʾēt ate
the Edomites; אֱד֔וֹם ʾĕdōm ay-DOME
lifteth thee up וּנְשָֽׂאֲךָ֥ nāśāʾ na-SA
and thine heart לִבְּךָ֖ lēb lave
to boast: לְהַכְבִּ֑יד kābad ka-VAHD
now עַתָּה֙ ʿattâ ah-TA
abide שְׁבָ֣ה yāšab ya-SHAHV
at home; בְּבֵיתֶ֔ךָ bayit ba-YEET
why לָ֤מָּה mâ ma
