וַֽיִּגְּשׁ֗וּ Then came near nāgaš רָאשֵׁי֙ the heads rōš אֲב֣וֹת of the fathers ʾāb הַלְוִיִּ֔ם of the Levites lēwiyyî אֶל unto ʾēl אֶלְעָזָר֙ Eleazar ʾelʿāzār הַכֹּהֵ֔ן the priest, kōhēn וְאֶל and unto ʾēl יְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ Joshua yĕhôšûaʿ בִּן the son bēn נ֑וּן of Nun, nûn וְאֶל and unto ʾēl רָאשֵׁ֛י the heads rōš אֲב֥וֹת of the fathers ʾāb הַמַּטּ֖וֹת of the tribes maṭṭe לִבְנֵ֥י of the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of Israel; yiśrāʾēl

וַיְדַבְּר֨וּ And they spake dābar אֲלֵיהֶ֜ם unto ʾēl בְּשִׁלֹ֗ה them at Shiloh šîlō בְּאֶ֤רֶץ in the land ʾereṣ כְּנַ֙עַן֙ of Canaan, kĕnaʿan לֵאמֹ֔ר saying, ʾāmar יְהוָה֙ The Lord yĕhōwâ צִוָּ֣ה commanded ṣāwâ בְיַד by the hand yād מֹשֶׁ֔ה of Moses mōše לָֽתֶת to give nātan לָ֥נוּ עָרִ֖ים us cities ʿîr לָשָׁ֑בֶת to dwell in, yāšab וּמִגְרְשֵׁיהֶ֖ן with the suburbs migroš לִבְהֶמְתֵּֽנוּ׃ thereof for our cattle. bĕhēmâ

וַיִּתְּנ֨וּ gave nātan בְנֵֽי And the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֧ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl לַלְוִיִּ֛ם unto the Levites lēwiyyî מִנַּֽחֲלָתָ֖ם out of their inheritance, naḥălâ אֶל at ʾēl פִּ֣י the commandment pe יְהוָ֑ה of the Lord, yĕhōwâ אֶת ʾēt הֶֽעָרִ֥ים cities ʿîr הָאֵ֖לֶּה these ʾēlle וְאֶת ʾēt מִגְרְשֵׁיהֶֽן׃ and their suburbs. migroš

וַיֵּצֵ֥א came out yāṣāʾ הַגּוֹרָ֖ל And the lot gôrāl לְמִשְׁפְּחֹ֣ת for the families mišpāḥâ הַקְּהָתִ֑י of the Kohathites: qŏhātî וַיְהִ֡י had hāyâ לִבְנֵי֩ and the children bēn אַֽהֲרֹ֨ן of Aaron ʾahărôn הַכֹּהֵ֜ן the priest, kōhēn מִן of min הַלְוִיִּ֗ם the Levites, lēwiyyî מִמַּטֵּ֣ה out of the tribe maṭṭe יְ֠הוּדָה of Judah, yĕhûdâ וּמִמַּטֵּ֨ה and out of the tribe maṭṭe הַשִּׁמְעֹנִ֜י of Simeon, šimʿōnî וּמִמַּטֵּ֤ה and out of the tribe maṭṭe בִנְיָמִן֙ of Benjamin, binyāmîn בַּגּוֹרָ֔ל by lot gôrāl עָרִ֖ים cities. ʿîr שְׁלֹ֥שׁ thirteen šālôš עֶשְׂרֵֽה׃ ʿāśār

וְלִבְנֵ֨י of the children bēn קְהָ֜ת of Kohath qĕhāt הַנּֽוֹתָרִ֗ים And the rest yātar מִמִּשְׁפְּחֹ֣ת out of the families mišpāḥâ מַטֵּֽה of the tribe maṭṭe אֶ֠פְרַיִם of Ephraim, ʾeprayim וּֽמִמַּטֵּה and out of the tribe maṭṭe דָ֞ן of Dan, dān וּמֵֽחֲצִ֨י and out of the half ḥēṣî מַטֵּ֧ה tribe maṭṭe מְנַשֶּׁ֛ה of Manasseh, mĕnašše בַּגּוֹרָ֖ל by lot gôrāl עָרִ֥ים cities. ʿîr עָֽשֶׂר׃ ten ʿeśer

וְלִבְנֵ֣י And the children bēn גֵֽרְשׁ֗וֹן of Gershon gērĕšôn מִמִּשְׁפְּח֣וֹת out of the families mišpāḥâ מַטֵּֽה of the tribe maṭṭe יִשָּׂשכָ֣ר of Issachar, yiśśokār וּמִמַּטֵּֽה and out of the tribe maṭṭe אָ֠שֵׁר of Asher, ʾāšēr וּמִמַּטֵּ֨ה and out of the tribe maṭṭe נַפְתָּלִ֜י of Naphtali, naptālî וּ֠מֵֽחֲצִי and out of the half ḥēṣî מַטֵּ֨ה tribe maṭṭe מְנַשֶּׁ֤ה of Manasseh mĕnašše בַבָּשָׁן֙ in Bashan, bāšān בַּגּוֹרָ֔ל by lot gôrāl עָרִ֖ים cities. ʿîr שְׁלֹ֥שׁ thirteen šālôš עֶשְׂרֵֽה׃ ʿāśār

לִבְנֵ֨י The children bēn מְרָרִ֜י of Merari mĕrārî לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֗ם by their families mišpāḥâ מִמַּטֵּ֨ה out of the tribe maṭṭe רְאוּבֵ֤ן of Reuben, rĕʾûbēn וּמִמַּטֵּה and out of the tribe maṭṭe גָד֙ of Gad, gād וּמִמַּטֵּ֣ה and out of the tribe maṭṭe זְבוּלֻ֔ן of Zebulun, zĕbûlûn עָרִ֖ים cities. ʿîr שְׁתֵּ֥ים twelve šĕnayim עֶשְׂרֵֽה׃ ʿāśār

וַיִּתְּנ֤וּ gave nātan בְנֵֽי And the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ of Israel yiśrāʾēl לַלְוִיִּ֔ם unto the Levites lēwiyyî אֶת ʾēt הֶֽעָרִ֥ים cities ʿîr הָאֵ֖לֶּה these ʾēlle וְאֶת with ʾēt מִגְרְשֵׁיהֶ֑ן their suburbs, migroš כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֨ר as ʾăšer צִוָּ֧ה commanded ṣāwâ יְהוָ֛ה the Lord yĕhōwâ בְּיַד by the hand yād מֹשֶׁ֖ה of Moses. mōše בַּגּוֹרָֽל׃ by lot gôrāl

וַֽיִּתְּנ֗וּ And they gave nātan מִמַּטֵּה֙ out of the tribe maṭṭe בְּנֵ֣י of the children bēn יְהוּדָ֔ה of Judah, yĕhûdâ וּמִמַּטֵּ֖ה and out of the tribe maṭṭe בְּנֵ֣י of the children bēn שִׁמְע֑וֹן of Simeon, šimʿôn אֵ֚ת ʾēt הֶֽעָרִ֣ים cities ʿîr הָאֵ֔לֶּה these ʾēlle אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer יִקְרָ֥א are mentioned qārāʾ אֶתְהֶ֖ן ʾēt בְּשֵֽׁם׃ by name, šēm

וַֽיְהִי֙ had: hāyâ לִבְנֵ֣י Which the children bēn אַֽהֲרֹ֔ן of Aaron, ʾahărôn מִמִּשְׁפְּח֥וֹת of the families mišpāḥâ הַקְּהָתִ֖י of the Kohathites, qŏhātî מִבְּנֵ֣י of the children bēn לֵוִ֑י of Levi, lēwî כִּ֥י for kî לָהֶ֛ם hēm הָיָ֥ה theirs was hāyâ הַגּוֹרָ֖ל lot. gôrāl רִֽאישֹׁנָֽה׃ the first riʾšôn

וַיִּתְּנ֨וּ And they gave nātan לָהֶ֜ם hēm אֶת them ʾēt קִרְיַת֩ the city qiryâ אַרְבַּ֨ע of Arba ʾarbaʿ אֲבִ֧י the father ʾāb הָֽעֲנ֛וֹק of Anak, ʿānāq הִ֥יא which hûʾ חֶבְר֖וֹן Hebron, ḥebrôn בְּהַ֣ר in the hill har יְהוּדָ֑ה of Judah, yĕhûdâ וְאֶת with ʾēt מִגְרָשֶׁ֖הָ the suburbs migroš סְבִֽיבֹתֶֽיהָ׃ thereof round about it. sābîb

וְאֶת ʾēt שְׂדֵ֥ה But the fields śāde הָעִ֖יר of the city, ʿîr וְאֶת ʾēt חֲצֵרֶ֑יהָ and the villages ḥāṣēr נָֽתְנ֛וּ thereof, gave nātan לְכָלֵ֥ב they to Caleb kālēb בֶּן the son bēn יְפֻנֶּ֖ה of Jephunneh yĕpunne בַּֽאֲחֻזָּתֽוֹ׃ for his possession. ʾăḥuzzâ

וְלִבְנֵ֣י׀ to the children bēn אַֽהֲרֹ֣ן of Aaron ʾahărôn הַכֹּהֵ֗ן the priest kōhēn נָֽתְנוּ֙ Thus they gave nātan אֶת ʾēt עִיר֙ a city ʿîr מִקְלַ֣ט of refuge miqlāṭ הָֽרֹצֵ֔חַ for the slayer; rāṣaḥ אֶת with ʾēt חֶבְר֖וֹן Hebron ḥebrôn וְאֶת ʾēt מִגְרָשֶׁ֑הָ her suburbs, migroš וְאֶת with ʾēt לִבְנָ֖ה and Libnah libnâ וְאֶת ʾēt מִגְרָשֶֽׁהָ׃ her suburbs, migroš

וְאֶת with ʾēt יַתִּר֙ And Jattir yattîr וְאֶת with ʾēt מִגְרָשֶׁ֔הָ her suburbs, migroš וְאֶֽת ʾēt אֶשְׁתְּמֹ֖עַ and Eshtemoa ʾeštĕmōaʿ וְאֶת ʾēt מִגְרָשֶֽׁהָ׃ her suburbs, migroš

אֶת ʾēt עֲנָתוֹת֙ Anathoth ʿănātôt וְאֶת with ʾēt מִגְרָשֶׁ֔הָ her suburbs, migroš וְאֶת with ʾēt עַלְמ֖וֹן and Almon ʿalmôn וְאֶת ʾēt מִגְרָשֶׁ֑הָ her suburbs; migroš עָרִ֖ים cities. ʿîr אַרְבַּֽע׃ four ʾarbaʿ

וּמִֽמַּחֲצִית֙ And out of the half maḥăṣît מַטֵּ֣ה tribe maṭṭe מְנַשֶּׁ֔ה of Manasseh, mĕnašše אֶת ʾēt תַּעְנַךְ֙ Tanach taʿănok וְאֶת with ʾēt מִגְרָשֶׁ֔הָ her suburbs, migroš וְאֶת with ʾēt גַּ֥ת רִמּ֖וֹן and Gath-rimmon gat rimmôn וְאֶת ʾēt מִגְרָשֶׁ֑הָ her suburbs; migroš עָרִ֖ים cities. ʿîr שְׁתָּֽיִם׃ two šĕnayim

וּמִמַּטֵּה And out of the tribe maṭṭe גָ֗ד of Gad, gād אֶת ʾēt עִיר֙ a city ʿîr מִקְלַ֣ט of refuge miqlāṭ הָֽרֹצֵ֔חַ for the slayer; rāṣaḥ אֶת with ʾēt רָמֹ֥ת Ramoth rāmōt gilʿād בַּגִּלְעָ֖ד in Gilead gilʿād וְאֶת ʾēt מִגְרָשֶׁ֑הָ her suburbs, migroš וְאֶֽת with ʾēt מַחֲנַ֖יִם and Mahanaim maḥănayim וְאֶת ʾēt מִגְרָשֶֽׁהָ׃ her suburbs, migroš

אֶת ʾēt חֶשְׁבּוֹן֙ Heshbon ḥešbôn וְאֶת with ʾēt מִגְרָשֶׁ֔הָ her suburbs, migroš אֶת ʾēt יַעְזֵ֖ר Jazer yaʿăzêr וְאֶת with ʾēt מִגְרָשֶׁ֑הָ her suburbs; migroš כָּל in all. kōl עָרִ֖ים cities ʿîr אַרְבַּֽע׃ four ʾarbaʿ

כָּל So all kōl הֶ֨עָרִ֜ים the cities ʿîr לִבְנֵ֤י for the children bēn מְרָרִי֙ of Merari mĕrārî לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֔ם by their families, mišpāḥâ הַנּֽוֹתָרִ֖ים which were remaining yātar מִמִּשְׁפְּח֣וֹת of the families mišpāḥâ הַלְוִיִּ֑ם of the Levites, lēwiyyî וַֽיְהִי֙ were hāyâ גּֽוֹרָלָ֔ם their lot gôrāl עָרִ֖ים cities. ʿîr שְׁתֵּ֥ים twelve šĕnayim עֶשְׂרֵֽה׃ ʿāśār

כֹּ֚ל All kōl עָרֵ֣י the cities ʿîr הַלְוִיִּ֔ם of the Levites lēwiyyî בְּת֖וֹךְ within tāwek אֲחֻזַּ֣ת the possession ʾăḥuzzâ בְּנֵֽי of the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl עָרִ֛ים cities ʿîr אַרְבָּעִ֥ים forty ʾarbāʿîm וּשְׁמֹנֶ֖ה and eight šĕmōne וּמִגְרְשֵׁיהֶֽן׃ with their suburbs. migroš

תִּֽהְיֶ֙ינָה֙ were hāyâ הֶֽעָרִ֣ים cities ʿîr הָאֵ֔לֶּה These ʾēlle עִ֣יר every one ʿîr עִ֔יר ʿîr וּמִגְרָשֶׁ֖יהָ with their suburbs migroš סְבִֽיבֹתֶ֑יהָ round about sābîb כֵּ֖ן them: thus kēn לְכָל all kōl הֶֽעָרִ֥ים cities. ʿîr הָאֵֽלֶּה׃ these ʾēlle

וַיִּתֵּ֤ן gave nātan יְהוָה֙ And the Lord yĕhōwâ לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל unto Israel yiśrāʾēl אֶת ʾēt כָּל all kōl הָאָ֔רֶץ the land ʾereṣ אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer נִשְׁבַּ֖ע he sware šābaʿ לָתֵ֣ת to give nātan לַֽאֲבוֹתָ֑ם unto their fathers; ʾāb וַיִּרָשׁ֖וּהָ and they possessed yāraš וַיֵּ֥שְׁבוּ it, and dwelt therein. yāšab בָֽהּ׃

וַיָּ֨נַח gave them rest nûaḥ יְהוָ֤ה And the Lord yĕhōwâ לָהֶם֙ מִסָּבִ֔יב round about, sābîb כְּכֹ֥ל according to all kōl אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer נִשְׁבַּ֖ע he sware šābaʿ לַֽאֲבוֹתָ֑ם unto their fathers: ʾāb וְלֹא not lōʾ עָ֨מַד and there stood ʿāmad אִ֤ישׁ a man ʾîš בִּפְנֵיהֶם֙ before pānîm מִכָּל of all kōl אֹ֣יְבֵיהֶ֔ם their enemies ʾōyēb אֵ֚ת ʾēt כָּל all kōl אֹ֣יְבֵיהֶ֔ם their enemies ʾōyēb נָתַ֥ן delivered nātan יְהוָ֖ה them; the Lord yĕhōwâ בְּיָדָֽם׃ into their hand. yād

לֹֽא not lōʾ נָפַ֣ל There failed nāpal דָּבָ֔ר ought dābār מִכֹּל֙ of any kōl הַדָּבָ֣ר thing dābār הַטּ֔וֹב good ṭôb אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer דִּבֶּ֥ר had spoken dābar יְהוָ֖ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶל unto ʾēl בֵּ֣ית the house bayit יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל of Israel; yiśrāʾēl הַכֹּ֖ל all kōl בָּֽא׃ came to pass. bôʾ
