וֶֽאֱלִישָׁע֙ And Elisha ʾĕlîšāʿ הַנָּבִ֔יא the prophet nābîʾ קָרָ֕א called qārāʾ לְאַחַ֖ד one ʾeḥād מִבְּנֵ֣י of the children bēn הַנְּבִיאִ֑ים of the prophets, nābîʾ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר and said ʾāmar ל֜וֹ חֲגֹ֣ר unto him, Gird up ḥāgar מָתְנֶ֗יךָ thy loins, mōten וְ֠קַח and take lāqaḥ פַּ֣ךְ box pak הַשֶּׁ֤מֶן of oil šemen הַזֶּה֙ this ze בְּיָדֶ֔ךָ in thine hand, yād וְלֵ֖ךְ and go hālak רָמֹ֥ת to Ramoth-gilead: rāmōt gilʿād גִּלְעָֽד׃ gilʿād

וּבָ֖אתָ And when thou comest bôʾ שָּׁ֑מָּה thither, šām וּרְאֵה look out rāʾâ שָׁ֠ם there šām יֵה֨וּא Jehu yēhûʾ בֶן the son bēn יְהֽוֹשָׁפָ֜ט of Jehoshaphat yĕhôšāpāṭ בֶּן the son bēn נִמְשִׁ֗י of Nimshi, nimšî וּבָ֙אתָ֙ and go in, bôʾ וַהֲקֵֽמֹתוֹ֙ and make him arise up qûm מִתּ֣וֹך from among tāwek אֶחָ֔יו his brethren, ʾāḥ וְהֵֽבֵיאתָ֥ and carry bôʾ אֹת֖וֹ ʾēt חֶ֥דֶר him to an inner ḥeder בְּחָֽדֶר׃ chamber; ḥeder

וְלָֽקַחְתָּ֤ Then take lāqaḥ פַךְ the box pak הַשֶּׁ֙מֶן֙ of oil, šemen וְיָֽצַקְתָּ֣ and pour yāṣaq עַל on ʿal רֹאשׁ֔וֹ his head, rōš וְאָֽמַרְתָּ֙ and say, ʾāmar כֹּֽה Thus kō אָמַ֣ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֔ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ מְשַׁחְתִּ֥יךָ I have anointed māšaḥ לְמֶ֖לֶךְ thee king melek אֶל over ʾēl יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל Israel. yiśrāʾēl וּפָֽתַחְתָּ֥ Then open pātaḥ הַדֶּ֛לֶת the door, delet וְנַ֖סְתָּה and flee, nûs וְלֹ֥א not. lōʾ תְחַכֶּֽה׃ and tarry ḥākâ

וַיֵּ֧לֶךְ went hālak הַנַּ֛עַר So the young man, naʿar הַנַּ֥עַר the young man naʿar הַנָּבִ֖יא the prophet, nābîʾ רָמֹ֥ת to Ramoth-gilead. rāmōt gilʿād גִּלְעָֽד׃ gilʿād

וַיָּבֹ֗א And when he came, bôʾ וְהִנֵּ֨ה behold, hinnē שָׂרֵ֤י the captains śar הַחַ֙יִל֙ of the host ḥayil יֹֽשְׁבִ֔ים sitting; yāšab וַיֹּ֕אמֶר and he said, ʾāmar דָּבָ֥ר I have an errand dābār לִ֛י אֵלֶ֖יךָ to ʾēl הַשָּׂ֑ר thee, O captain. śar וַיֹּ֤אמֶר said, ʾāmar יֵהוּא֙ And Jehu yēhûʾ אֶל Unto ʾēl מִ֣י which mî מִכֻּלָּ֔נוּ of all kōl וַיֹּ֖אמֶר us? And he said, ʾāmar אֵלֶ֥יךָ To ʾēl הַשָּֽׂר׃ thee, O captain. śar

וַיָּ֙קָם֙ And he arose, qûm וַיָּבֹ֣א and went bôʾ הַבַּ֔יְתָה into the house; bayit וַיִּצֹ֥ק and he poured yāṣaq הַשֶּׁ֖מֶן the oil šemen אֶל on ʾēl רֹאשׁ֑וֹ his head, rōš וַיֹּ֣אמֶר and said ʾāmar ל֗וֹ כֹּֽה unto him, Thus kō אָמַ֤ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָה֙ the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵ֣י God ʾĕlōhîm יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel, yiśrāʾēl מְשַׁחְתִּ֧יךָ I have anointed māšaḥ לְמֶ֛לֶךְ thee king melek אֶל over ʾēl עַ֥ם the people ʿam יְהוָ֖ה of the Lord, yĕhōwâ אֶל over ʾēl יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ Israel. yiśrāʾēl

וְהִ֨כִּיתָ֔ה And thou shalt smite nākâ אֶת ʾēt בֵּ֥ית the house bayit אַחְאָ֖ב of Ahab ʾaḥʾāb אֲדֹנֶ֑יךָ thy master, ʾādôn וְנִקַּמְתִּ֞י that I may avenge nāqam דְּמֵ֣י׀ the blood dām עֲבָדַ֣י of my servants ʿebed הַנְּבִיאִ֗ים the prophets, nābîʾ וּדְמֵ֛י and the blood dām כָּל of all kōl עַבְדֵ֥י the servants ʿebed יְהוָ֖ה of the Lord, yĕhōwâ מִיַּ֥ד at the hand yād אִיזָֽבֶל׃ of Jezebel. ʾîzebel

וְאָבַ֖ד shall perish: ʾābad כָּל For the whole kōl בֵּ֣ית house bayit אַחְאָ֑ב of Ahab ʾaḥʾāb וְהִכְרַתִּ֤י and I will cut off kārat לְאַחְאָב֙ from Ahab ʾaḥʾāb מַשְׁתִּ֣ין him that pisseth šātan בְּקִ֔יר against the wall, qîr וְעָצ֥וּר and him that is shut up ʿāṣār וְעָז֖וּב and left ʿāzab בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ in Israel: yiśrāʾēl

וְנָֽתַתִּי֙ And I will make nātan אֶת ʾēt בֵּ֣ית the house bayit אַחְאָ֔ב of Ahab ʾaḥʾāb כְּבֵ֖ית like the house bayit יָֽרָבְעָ֣ם of Jeroboam yorobʿām בֶּן the son bēn נְבָ֑ט of Nebat, nĕbāṭ וּכְבֵ֖ית and like the house bayit בַּעְשָׁ֥א of Baasha baʿšāʾ בֶן the son bēn אֲחִיָּֽה׃ of Ahijah: ʾăḥiyyâ

וְאֶת ʾēt אִיזֶ֜בֶל Jezebel ʾîzebel יֹֽאכְל֧וּ shall eat ʾākal הַכְּלָבִ֛ים And the dogs keleb בְּחֵ֥לֶק in the portion ḥēleq יִזְרְעֶ֖אל of Jezreel, yizrĕʿēl וְאֵ֣ין and none ʾayin קֹבֵ֑ר to bury qābar וַיִּפְתַּ֥ח And he opened pātaḥ הַדֶּ֖לֶת the door, delet וַיָּנֹֽס׃ and fled. nûs

וְיֵה֗וּא Then Jehu yēhûʾ יָצָא֙ came forth yāṣāʾ אֶל to ʾēl עַבְדֵ֣י the servants ʿebed אֲדֹנָ֔יו of his lord: ʾādôn וַיֹּ֤אמֶר and said ʾāmar לוֹ֙ הֲשָׁל֔וֹם unto him, all well? šālôm מַדּ֛וּעַ wherefore maddûaʿ בָּֽא came bôʾ הַמְשֻׁגָּ֥ע mad šāgaʿ הַזֶּ֖ה this ze אֵלֶ֑יךָ to ʾēl וַיֹּ֣אמֶר thee? And he said ʾāmar אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם unto ʾēl אַתֶּ֛ם them, Ye ʾattâ יְדַעְתֶּ֥ם know yādaʿ אֶת and ʾēt הָאִ֖ישׁ the man, ʾîš וְאֶת ʾēt שִׂיחֽוֹ׃ his communication. śîaḥ

וַיֹּֽאמְר֣וּ And they said, ʾāmar שֶׁ֔קֶר false; šeqer הַגֶּד tell nāgad נָ֖א us now. nāʾ לָ֑נוּ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר And he said, ʾāmar כָּזֹ֤את Thus zōt וְכָזֹאת֙ and thus zōt אָמַ֤ר spake ʾāmar אֵלַי֙ he to ʾēl לֵאמֹ֔ר me, saying, ʾāmar כֹּ֚ה Thus kō אָמַ֣ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֔ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ מְשַׁחְתִּ֥יךָ I have anointed māšaḥ לְמֶ֖לֶךְ thee king melek אֶל over ʾēl יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ Israel. yiśrāʾēl

וַֽיְמַהֲר֗וּ Then they hasted, māhar וַיִּקְחוּ֙ and took lāqaḥ אִ֣ישׁ every man ʾîš בִּגְד֔וֹ his garment, beged וַיָּשִׂ֥ימוּ and put śûm תַחְתָּ֖יו under taḥat אֶל him on ʾēl גֶּ֣רֶם the top gerem הַֽמַּעֲל֑וֹת of the stairs, maʿălâ וַֽיִּתְקְעוּ֙ and blew tāqaʿ בַּשּׁוֹפָ֔ר with trumpets, šôpār וַיֹּֽאמְר֖וּ saying, ʾāmar מָלַ֥ךְ is king. mālak יֵהֽוּא׃ Jehu yēhûʾ

וַיִּתְקַשֵּׁ֗ר conspired qāšar יֵה֛וּא So Jehu yēhûʾ בֶּן the son bēn יְהֽוֹשָׁפָ֥ט of Jehoshaphat yĕhôšāpāṭ בֶּן the son bēn נִמְשִׁ֖י of Nimshi nimšî אֶל against ʾēl יוֹרָ֑ם Joram. yôrām וְיוֹרָם֩ (Now Joram yôrām הָיָ֨ה had hāyâ שֹׁמֵ֜ר kept šāmar בְּרָמֹ֣ת Ramoth-gilead, rāmōt gilʿād גִּלְעָ֗ד gilʿād ה֚וּא he hûʾ וְכָל and all kōl יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Israel, yiśrāʾēl מִפְּנֵ֥י because pānîm חֲזָאֵ֖ל of Hazael ḥăzāʾēl מֶֽלֶךְ king melek אֲרָֽם׃ of Syria. ʾărām

וַיָּשָׁב֩ was returned šûb יְהוֹרָ֨ם Joram yĕhôrām הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ But king melek לְהִתְרַפֵּ֣א to be healed rāpāʾ בִיְזְרְעֶ֗אל in Jezreel yizrĕʿēl מִן of min הַמַּכִּים֙ the wounds makkâ אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer יַכֻּ֣הוּ had given nākâ אֲרַמִּ֔ים the Syrians ʾărammî בְּהִלָּ֣חֲמ֔וֹ him, when he fought lāḥam אֶת with ʾēt חֲזָאֵ֖ל Hazael ḥăzāʾēl מֶ֣לֶךְ king melek אֲרָ֑ם of Syria.) ʾărām וַיֹּ֤אמֶר said, ʾāmar יֵהוּא֙ And Jehu yēhûʾ אִם If ʾim יֵ֣שׁ it be yēš נַפְשְׁכֶ֔ם your minds, nepeš אַל let none ʾal יֵצֵ֤א go forth yāṣāʾ פָלִיט֙ escape pālîṭ מִן out of min הָעִ֔יר the city ʿîr לָלֶ֖כֶת to go hālak לְגִּ֥יד to tell nāgad בְּיִזְרְעֶֽאל׃ in Jezreel. yizrĕʿēl

וַיִּרְכַּ֤ב rode in a chariot, rākab יֵהוּא֙ So Jehu yēhûʾ וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ and went hālak יִזְרְעֶ֔אלָה to Jezreel; yizrĕʿēl כִּ֥י for kî יוֹרָ֖ם Joram yôrām שֹׁכֵ֣ב lay šākab שָׁ֑מָּה there. šām וַֽאֲחַזְיָה֙ And Ahaziah ʾăḥazyâ מֶ֣לֶךְ king melek יְהוּדָ֔ה of Judah yĕhûdâ יָרַ֖ד was come down yārad לִרְא֥וֹת to see rāʾâ אֶת ʾēt יוֹרָֽם׃ Joram. yôrām

וְהַצֹּפֶה֩ a watchman ṣāpâ עֹמֵ֨ד And there stood ʿāmad עַֽל on ʿal הַמִּגְדָּ֜ל the tower migdāl בְּיִזְרְעֶ֗אל in Jezreel, yizrĕʿēl וַיַּ֞רְא and he spied rāʾâ אֶת ʾēt שִׁפְעַ֤ת the company šipʿâ יֵהוּא֙ of Jehu yēhûʾ בְּבֹא֔וֹ as he came, bôʾ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר and said, ʾāmar שִׁפְעַ֖ת a company. šipʿâ אֲנִ֣י I ʾănî רֹאֶ֑ה see rāʾâ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said, ʾāmar יְהוֹרָ֗ם And Joram yĕhôrām קַ֥ח Take lāqaḥ רַכָּ֛ב an horseman, rakkāb וּֽשְׁלַ֥ח and send šālaḥ לִקְרָאתָ֖ם to meet qirʾâ וְיֹאמַ֥ר them, and let him say, ʾāmar הֲשָׁלֽוֹם׃ peace? šālôm

וַיֵּלֶךְ֩ So there went hālak רֹכֵ֨ב one on horseback rākab הַסּ֜וּס sûs לִקְרָאת֗וֹ to meet qirʾâ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ him, and said, ʾāmar כֹּֽה Thus kō אָמַ֤ר saith ʾāmar הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ the king, melek הֲשָׁל֔וֹם peace? šālôm וַיֹּ֧אמֶר said, ʾāmar יֵה֛וּא And Jehu yēhûʾ מַה What mâ לְּךָ֥ וּלְשָׁל֖וֹם hast thou to do with peace? šālôm סֹ֣ב turn sābab אֶֽל ʾēl אַחֲרָ֑י thee behind ʾaḥar וַיַּגֵּ֤ד told, nāgad הַצֹּפֶה֙ me. And the watchman ṣāpâ לֵאמֹ֔ר saying, ʾāmar בָּֽא came bôʾ הַמַּלְאָ֥ךְ The messenger mălʾok עַד to ʿad הֵ֖ם them, hēm וְלֹא lōʾ שָֽׁב׃ but he cometh not again. šûb

וַיִּשְׁלַ֗ח Then he sent out šālaḥ רֹכֵ֣ב on horseback, rākab סוּס֮ sûs שֵׁנִי֒ a second šēnî וַיָּבֹ֣א which came bôʾ אֲלֵהֶ֔ם to ʾēl וַיֹּ֛אמֶר them, and said, ʾāmar כֹּֽה Thus kō אָמַ֥ר saith ʾāmar הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ the king, melek שָׁל֑וֹם peace? šālôm וַיֹּ֧אמֶר answered, ʾāmar יֵה֛וּא And Jehu yēhûʾ מַה What mâ לְּךָ֥ וּלְשָׁל֖וֹם hast thou to do with peace? šālôm סֹ֥ב turn sābab אֶֽל me. ʾēl אַחֲרָֽי׃ thee behind ʾaḥar

וַיַּגֵּ֤ד told, nāgad הַצֹּפֶה֙ And the watchman ṣāpâ לֵאמֹ֔ר saying, ʾāmar בָּ֥א He came bôʾ עַד even ʿad אֲלֵיהֶ֖ם unto ʾēl וְלֹא lōʾ שָׁ֑ב them, and cometh not again: šûb וְהַמִּנְהָ֗ג and the driving minhāg כְּמִנְהַג֙ like the driving minhāg יֵה֣וּא of Jehu yēhûʾ בֶן the son bēn נִמְשִׁ֔י of Nimshi; nimšî כִּ֥י for kî בְשִׁגָּע֖וֹן furiously. šiggāʿôn יִנְהָֽג׃ he driveth nāhag

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר said, ʾāmar יְהוֹרָם֙ And Joram yĕhôrām אֱסֹ֔ר Make ready. ʾāsar וַיֶּאְסֹ֖ר was made ready. ʾāsar רִכְבּ֑וֹ And his chariot rekeb וַיֵּצֵ֣א went out, yāṣāʾ יְהוֹרָ֣ם And Joram yĕhôrām מֶֽלֶךְ king melek יִ֠שְׂרָאֵל of Israel yiśrāʾēl וַֽאֲחַזְיָ֨הוּ and Ahaziah ʾăḥazyâ מֶֽלֶךְ king melek יְהוּדָ֜ה of Judah yĕhûdâ אִ֣ישׁ each ʾîš בְּרִכְבּ֗וֹ in his chariot, rekeb וַיֵּֽצְאוּ֙ and they went out yāṣāʾ לִקְרַ֣את against qirʾâ יֵה֔וּא Jehu, yēhûʾ וַיִּמְצָאֻ֔הוּ and met māṣāʾ בְּחֶלְקַ֖ת him in the portion ḥelqâ נָב֥וֹת of Naboth nābôt הַיִּזְרְעֵאלִֽי׃ the Jezreelite. yizrĕʿēʾlî

וַיְהִ֗י And it came to pass, hāyâ כִּרְא֤וֹת saw rāʾâ יְהוֹרָם֙ when Joram yĕhôrām אֶת ʾēt יֵה֔וּא Jehu, yēhûʾ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר that he said, ʾāmar הֲשָׁל֣וֹם peace, šālôm יֵה֑וּא Jehu? yēhûʾ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ And he answered, ʾāmar מָ֣ה What mâ הַשָּׁל֔וֹם peace, šālôm עַד so long as ʿad זְנוּנֵ֞י the whoredoms zānûn אִיזֶ֧בֶל Jezebel ʾîzebel אִמְּךָ֛ of thy mother ʾēm וּכְשָׁפֶ֖יהָ and her witchcrafts kešep הָֽרַבִּֽים׃ many? rab

וַיַּֽהֲפֹ֧ךְ turned hāpak יְהוֹרָ֛ם And Joram yĕhôrām יָדָ֖יו his hands, yād וַיָּנֹ֑ס and fled, nûs וַיֹּ֥אמֶר and said ʾāmar אֶל to ʾēl אֲחַזְיָ֖הוּ Ahaziah, ʾăḥazyâ מִרְמָ֥ה treachery, mirmâ אֲחַזְיָֽה׃ O Ahaziah. ʾăḥazyâ

וְיֵה֞וּא And Jehu yēhûʾ מִלֵּ֧א with his full mālēʾ יָד֣וֹ strength, yād בַקֶּ֗שֶׁת drew a bow qešet וַיַּ֤ךְ and smote nākâ אֶת ʾēt יְהוֹרָם֙ Jehoram yĕhôrām בֵּ֣ין between bên זְרֹעָ֔יו his arms, zĕrôaʿ וַיֵּצֵ֥א went out yāṣāʾ הַחֵ֖צִי and the arrow ḥiṣṣî מִלִּבּ֑וֹ at his heart, lēb וַיִּכְרַ֖ע and he sunk down kāraʿ בְּרִכְבּֽוֹ׃ in his chariot. rekeb

וַיֹּ֗אמֶר Then said ʾāmar אֶל to ʾēl בִּדְקַר֙ Bidkar bidqar שָׁלִשֹׁ֔ה his captain, šālîš שָׂ֚א Take up, nāśāʾ הַשְׁלִכֵ֔הוּ cast šālak בְּחֶלְקַ֕ת him in the portion ḥelqâ שְׂדֵ֖ה of the field śāde נָב֣וֹת of Naboth nābôt הַיִּזְרְעֵאלִ֑י the Jezreelite: yizrĕʿēʾlî כִּֽי for kî זְכֹ֞ר remember zākar אֲנִ֣י how that, when I ʾănî וָאַ֗תָּה and thou ʾattâ אֵ֣ת ʾēt רֹֽכְבִ֤ים rode rākab צְמָדִים֙ together ṣemed אַֽחֲרֵי֙ after ʾaḥar אַחְאָ֣ב Ahab ʾaḥʾāb אָבִ֔יו his father, ʾāb וַֽיהוָה֙ the Lord yĕhōwâ נָשָׂ֣א laid nāśāʾ עָלָ֔יו upon him; ʿal אֶת ʾēt הַמַּשָּׂ֖א burden maśśāʾ הַזֶּֽה׃ this ze

אִם Surely ʾim לֹ֡א lōʾ אֶת ʾēt דְּמֵ֣י the blood dām נָבוֹת֩ of Naboth, nābôt וְאֶת ʾēt דְּמֵ֨י and the blood dām בָנָ֜יו of his sons, bēn רָאִ֤יתִי I have seen rāʾâ אֶ֙מֶשׁ֙ yesterday ʾemeš נְאֻם saith nĕʾum יְהוָ֔ה the Lord; yĕhōwâ וְשִׁלַּמְתִּ֥י and I will requite šālam לְךָ֛ בַּחֶלְקָ֥ה plat, ḥelqâ הַזֹּ֖את thee in this zōt נְאֻם saith nĕʾum יְהוָ֑ה the Lord. yĕhōwâ וְעַתָּ֗ה Now ʿattâ שָׂ֧א therefore take nāśāʾ הַשְׁלִכֵ֛הוּ cast šālak בַּחֶלְקָ֖ה him into the plat ḥelqâ כִּדְבַ֥ר according to the word dābār יְהוָֽה׃ of the Lord. yĕhōwâ

וַֽאֲחַזְיָ֤ה But when Ahaziah ʾăḥazyâ מֶֽלֶךְ the king melek יְהוּדָה֙ of Judah yĕhûdâ רָאָ֔ה saw rāʾâ וַיָּ֕נָס he fled nûs דֶּ֖רֶךְ by the way derek בֵּ֣ית house. bayit הַגָּ֑ן of the garden gan וַיִּרְדֹּ֨ף followed rādap אַֽחֲרָ֜יו after ʾaḥar יֵה֗וּא And Jehu yēhûʾ וַ֠יֹּאמֶר him, and said, ʾāmar גַּם him also gam אֹת֞וֹ by ʾēt הַכֻּ֣הוּ Smite nākâ אֶל in ʾēl הַמֶּרְכָּבָ֗ה the chariot. merkābâ בְּמַֽעֲלֵה at the going up maʿăle גוּר֙ to Gur, gûr אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer אֶֽת ʾēt יִבְלְעָ֔ם Ibleam. yiblĕʿām וַיָּ֥נָס And he fled nûs מְגִדּ֖וֹ to Megiddo, mĕgiddôn וַיָּ֥מָת and died mût שָֽׁם׃ there. šām

וַיַּרְכִּ֧בוּ carried rākab אֹת֛וֹ him in a chariot ʾēt עֲבָדָ֖יו And his servants ʿebed יְרוּשָׁלְָ֑מָה to Jerusalem, yĕrûšālaim וַיִּקְבְּר֨וּ and buried qābar אֹת֧וֹ ʾēt בִקְבֻֽרָת֛וֹ him in his sepulchre qĕbûrâ עִם with ʿim אֲבֹתָ֖יו his fathers ʾāb בְּעִ֥יר in the city ʿîr דָּוִֽד׃ of David. dāwid

וּבִשְׁנַת֙ šāne אַחַ֣ת ʾeḥād עֶשְׂרֵ֣ה And in the eleventh ʿāśār שָׁנָ֔ה year šāne לְיוֹרָ֖ם of Joram yôrām בֶּן the son bēn אַחְאָ֑ב of Ahab ʾaḥʾāb מָלַ֥ךְ to reign mālak אֲחַזְיָ֖ה began Ahaziah ʾăḥazyâ עַל over ʿal יְהוּדָֽה׃ Judah. yĕhûdâ

וַיָּב֥וֹא was come bôʾ יֵה֖וּא And when Jehu yēhûʾ יִזְרְעֶ֑אלָה to Jezreel, yizrĕʿēl וְאִיזֶ֣בֶל Jezebel ʾîzebel שָֽׁמְעָ֗ה heard šāmaʿ וַתָּ֨שֶׂם and she painted śûm בַּפּ֤וּךְ pûk עֵינֶ֙יהָ֙ her face, ʿayin וַתֵּ֣יטֶב and tired yāṭab אֶת ʾēt רֹאשָׁ֔הּ her head, rōš וַתַּשְׁקֵ֖ף and looked out šāqap בְּעַ֥ד at bĕʿad הַֽחַלּֽוֹן׃ a window. ḥallôn

וְיֵה֖וּא And as Jehu yēhûʾ בָּ֣א entered in bôʾ בַשָּׁ֑עַר at the gate, šaʿar וַתֹּ֣אמֶר she said, ʾāmar הֲשָׁל֔וֹם peace, šālôm זִמְרִ֖י Zimri zimrî הֹרֵ֥ג who slew hārag אֲדֹנָֽיו׃ his master? ʾādôn

וַיִּשָּׂ֤א And he lifted up nāśāʾ פָנָיו֙ his face pānîm אֶל to ʾēl הַ֣חַלּ֔וֹן the window, ḥallôn וַיֹּ֕אמֶר and said, ʾāmar מִ֥י Who mî אִתִּ֖י on my side? ʾēt מִ֑י who? mî וַיַּשְׁקִ֣יפוּ And there looked out šāqap אֵלָ֔יו to ʾēl שְׁנַ֥יִם him two šĕnayim שְׁלֹשָׁ֖ה three šālôš סָֽרִיסִֽים׃ eunuchs. sārîs

וַיֹּ֥אמֶר And he said, ʾāmar שִׁמְטֻ֖הָו Throw her down. šāmaṭ וַֽיִּשְׁמְט֑וּהָ So they threw her down: šāmaṭ וַיִּ֨ז was sprinkled nāzâ מִדָּמָ֧הּ and of her blood dām אֶל on ʾēl הַקִּ֛יר the wall, qîr וְאֶל and on ʾēl הַסּוּסִ֖ים the horses: sûs וַֽיִּרְמְסֶֽנָּה׃ and he trode her under foot. rāmas

וַיָּבֹ֖א And when he was come in, bôʾ וַיֹּ֣אכַל he did eat ʾākal וַיֵּ֑שְׁתְּ and drink, šātâ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר and said, ʾāmar פִּקְדוּ Go, see pāqad נָ֞א now nāʾ אֶת ʾēt הָֽאֲרוּרָ֤ה cursed ʾārar הַזֹּאת֙ this zōt וְקִבְר֔וּהָ and bury qābar כִּ֥י her: for kî בַת daughter. bat מֶ֖לֶךְ a king's melek הִֽיא׃ she hûʾ

וַיֵּֽלְכ֖וּ And they went hālak לְקָבְרָ֑הּ to bury qābar וְלֹא no more lōʾ מָ֣צְאוּ her: but they found māṣāʾ בָ֗הּ כִּ֧י kî אִם of her than ʾim הַגֻּלְגֹּ֛לֶת the skull, gulgōlet וְהָֽרַגְלַ֖יִם and the feet, regel וְכַפּ֥וֹת and the palms kap הַיָּדָֽיִם׃ of hands. yād

וַיָּשֻׁבוּ֮ Wherefore they came again, šûb וַיַּגִּ֣ידוּ and told nāgad לוֹ֒ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ him. And he said, ʾāmar דְּבַר the word dābār יְהוָ֣ה of the Lord, yĕhōwâ ה֔וּא This hûʾ אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer דִּבֶּ֗ר he spake dābar בְּיַד by yād עַבְדּ֛וֹ his servant ʿebed אֵֽלִיָּ֥הוּ Elijah ʾēliyyâ הַתִּשְׁבִּ֖י the Tishbite, tišbî לֵאמֹ֑ר saying, ʾāmar בְּחֵ֣לֶק In the portion ḥēleq יִזְרְעֶ֔אל of Jezreel yizrĕʿēl יֹֽאכְל֥וּ eat ʾākal הַכְּלָבִ֖ים shall dogs keleb אֶת ʾēt בְּשַׂ֥ר the flesh bāśār אִיזָֽבֶל׃ of Jezebel: ʾîzebel

וְֽהָיְתָ֞ shall be hāyâ נִבְלַ֣ת And the carcase nĕbēlâ אִיזֶ֗בֶל of Jezebel ʾîzebel כְּדֹ֛מֶן as dung dōmen עַל upon ʿal פְּנֵ֥י the face pānîm הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה of the field śāde בְּחֵ֣לֶק in the portion ḥēleq יִזְרְעֶ֑אל of Jezreel; yizrĕʿēl אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ʾăšer לֹֽא they shall not lōʾ יֹאמְר֖וּ say, ʾāmar זֹ֥את This zōt אִיזָֽבֶל׃ Jezebel. ʾîzebel
