1 பின்பு சாமுவேல் சவுலை நோக்கி: இஸ்ரவேலராகிய தம்முடைய ஜனங்கள் மேல் உம்மை ராஜாவாக அபிஷேகம் பண்ணுகிறதற்குக் கர்த்தர் என்னை அனுப்பினாரே; இப்போதும் கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தைகளின் சத்தத்தைக்கேளும்: Samuel also said unto Saul, The LORD sent me to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the LORD.

2 சேனைகளின் கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறது என்னவென்றால், இஸ்ரவேலர் எகிப்திலிருந்து வந்தபோது, அமலேக்கு அவர்களுக்கு வழிமறித்த செய்கையை மனதிலே வைத்திருக்கிறேன். Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.

3 இப்போதும் நீ போய், அமலேக்கை மடங்கடித்து, அவனுக்கு உண்டான எல்லாவற்றையும் சங்கரித்து, அவன்மேல் இரக்கம் வைக்காமல், புருஷரையும், ஸ்திரீகளையும், பிள்ளைகளையும், குழந்தைகளையும், மாடுகளையும், ஆடுகளையும், ஒட்டகங்களையும், கழுதைகளையும் கொன்றுபோடக்கடவாய் என்கிறார் என்று சொன்னான். Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.

4 அப்பொழுது சவுல்: இதை ஜனங்களுக்கு அறியப்படுத்தி, தெலாயிமிலே அவர்களைத் தொகைபார்த்தான்; அவர்கள் இரண்டு லட்சம் காலாட்களும், யூதா ஜனங்கள் பதினாயிரம்பேருமாயிருந்தார்கள். And Saul gathered the people together, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.

5 சவுல் அமலேக்குடைய பட்டணமட்டும் வந்து, பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே ஒரு பதிவிடையை வைத்தான். And Saul came to a city of Amalek, and laid wait in the valley.

6 சவுல் கேனியரை நோக்கி: நான் அமலேக்கியரோடேகூட உங்களையும் வாரிக்கொள்ளாதபடிக்கு, நீங்கள் அவர்கள் நடுவிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு விலகிப்போங்கள்; இஸ்ரவேல் எகிப்திலிருந்து வந்தபோது, நீங்கள் அவர்கள் எல்லாருக்கும் தயவுசெய்தீர்கள் என்றான்; அப்படியே கேனியர் அமலேக்கியரின் நடுவிலிருந்து விலகிப்போனார்கள். And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them: for ye showed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.

7 அப்பொழுது சவுல்: ஆவிலா துவக்கி எகிப்திற்கு எதிரேயிருக்கிற சூருக்குப்போகும் எல்லைமட்டும் இருந்த அமலேக்கியரை மடங்கடித்து, And Saul smote the Amalekites from Havilah until thou comest to Shur, that is over against Egypt.

8 அமலேக்கியரின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாகை உயிரோடே பிடித்தான்; ஜனங்கள் யாவரையும் பட்டயக் கருக்கினாலே சங்காரம்பண்ணினான். And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.

9 சவுலும் ஜனங்களும், ஆகாகையும், ஆடுமாடுகளில் முதல்தரமானவைகளையும், இரண்டாந்தரமானவைகளையும், ஆட்டுக்குட்டிகளையும், நலமான எல்லாவற்றையும், அழித்துப்போடமனதில்லாமல் தப்பவைத்து, அற்பமானவைகளும் உதவாதவைகளுமான சகல வஸ்துக்களையும் முற்றிலும் அழித்துப்போட்டான். But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.

10 அப்பொழுது கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தை சாமுவேலுக்கு உண்டாகி, அவர் சொன்னது: Then came the word of the LORD unto Samuel, saying,

11 நான் சவுலை ராஜாவாக்கினது எனக்கு மனஸ்தாபமாயிருக்கிறது; அவன் என்னைவிட்டுத் திரும்பி, என் வார்த்தைகளை நிறைவேற்றாமற்போனான் என்றார்; அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல் மனம் நொந்து, இராமுழுதும் கர்த்தரை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிட்டான். It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the LORD all night.

12 மறுநாள் அதிகாலமே சாமுவேல் சவுலைச் சந்திக்கப்போனான்; அப்பொழுது சவுல் கர்மேலுக்கு வந்து, தனக்கு ஒரு ஜெயஸ்தம்பம் நாட்டி, பின்பு பல இடங்களில் சென்று கில்காலுக்குப் போனான் என்று, சாமுவேலுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது. And when Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning, it was told Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set him up a place, and is gone about, and passed on, and gone down to Gilgal.

13 சாமுவேல் சவுலினிடத்தில் போனான்; சவுல் அவனை நோக்கி: நீர் கர்த்தரால் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்; கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையை நிறைவேற்றினேன் என்றான். And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou of the LORD: I have performed the commandment of the LORD.

14 அதற்குச் சாமுவேல்: அப்படியானால் என் காதுகளில் விழுகிற ஆடுகளின் சத்தமும், எனக்குக் கேட்கிற மாடுகளின் சத்தமும் என்ன என்றான். And Samuel said, What meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?

15 அதற்குச் சவுல்: அமலேக்கியரிடத்திலிருந்து அவைகளைக் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்; ஜனங்கள் ஆடுமாடுகளில் நலமானவைகளை உம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்குப் பலியிடும்படிக்குத் தப்பவைத்தார்கள்; மற்றவைகளை முற்றிலும் அழித்துப்போட்டோம் என்றான். And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.

16 அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல்: அந்தப் பேச்சை விடும், கர்த்தர் இந்த இராத்திரியிலே எனக்குச் சொன்னதை உமக்கு அறிவிக்கிறேன் என்று சவுலோடே சொன்னான். அவன்: சொல்லும் என்றான். Then Samuel said unto Saul, Stay, and I will tell thee what the LORD hath said to me this night. And he said unto him, Say on.

17 அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல்: நீர் உம்முடைய பார்வைக்குச் சிறியவராயிருந்தபோது அல்லவோ இஸ்ரவேல் கோத்திரங்களுக்குத் தலைவரானீர்; கர்த்தர் உம்மை இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாக அபிஷேகம் பண்ணுவித்தாரே. And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the LORD anointed thee king over Israel?

18 இப்போதும் கர்த்தர்: நீ போய் அமலேக்கியராகிய அந்தப் பாவிகளைச் சங்கரித்து, அவர்களை நிர்மூலமாக்கித் தீருமட்டும், அவர்களோடு யுத்தம் பண்ணு என்று சொல்லி, உம்மை அந்த வழியாய் அனுப்பினார். And the LORD sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed.

19 இப்படியிருக்க, நீர் கர்த்தருடைய சொல்லைக்கேளாமல், கொள்ளையின்மேல் பறந்து, கர்த்தருடைய பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்தது என்ன என்றான். Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the LORD, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of the LORD?

20 சவுல் சாமுவேலை நோக்கி: நான் கர்த்தருடைய சொல்லைக் கேட்டு, கர்த்தர் என்னை அனுப்பின வழியாய்ப் போய், அமலேக்கின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாகைக் கொண்டுவந்து, அமலேக்கியரைச் சங்காரம் பண்ணினேன். And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.

21 ஜனங்களோ உம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்குக் கில்காலிலே பலியிடுகிறதற்காக, கொள்ளையிலே சாபத்தீடாகும் ஆடுமாடுகளிலே பிரதானமானவைகளைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு வந்தார்கள் என்றான். But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God in Gilgal.

22 அதற்குச் சாமுவேல்: கர்த்தருடைய சத்தத்திற்குக் கீழ்ப்படிகிறதைப்பார்க்கிலும், சர்வாங்க தகனங்களும் பலிகளும் கர்த்தருக்குப் பிரியமாயிருக்குமோ? பலியைப்பார்க்கிலும் கீழ்ப்படிதலும், ஆட்டுக்கடாக்களின் நிணத்தைப்பார்க்கிலும் செவிகொடுத்தலும் உத்தமம். And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

23 இரண்டகம்பண்ணுதல் பில்லிசூனியபாவத்திற்கும், முரட்டாட்டம்பண்ணுதல் அவபக்திக்கும் விக்கிரகாராதனைக்கும் சரியாய் இருக்கிறது; நீர் கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையைப் புறக்கணித்தபடியினாலே, அவர் உம்மை ராஜாவாயிராதபடிக்குப் புறக்கணித்துத் தள்ளினார் என்றான். For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

24 அப்பொழுது சவுல் சாமுவேலை நோக்கி: நான் கர்த்தருடைய கட்டளையையும் உம்முடைய வார்த்தைகளையும் மீறினதினாலே பாவஞ்செய்தேன்; நான் ஜனங்களுக்குப் பயந்து, அவர்கள் சொல்லைக் கேட்டேன். And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.

25 இப்போதும் நீர் என் பாவத்தை மன்னித்து, நான் கர்த்தரைப் பணிந்து கொள்ளும்படிக்கு, என்னோடேகூடத் திரும்பிவாரும் என்றான். Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD.

26 சாமுவேல் சவுலைப் பார்த்து: நான் உம்மோடேகூடத் திரும்பிவருவதில்லை; கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையைப் புறக்கணித்தீர்; நீர் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாயிராதபடிக்கு, கர்த்தர் உம்மையும் புறக்கணித்துத் தள்ளினார் என்றான். And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD hath rejected thee from being king over Israel.

27 போகும்படி சாமுவேல் திரும்புகிறபோது, சவுல், அவன் சால்வையின் தொங்கலைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டான், அது கிழிந்துபோயிற்று. And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it rent.

28 அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல் அவனை நோக்கி: கர்த்தர் இன்று உம்மிடத்திலிருந்த இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜ்யத்தைக் கிழித்துப்போட்டு; உம்மைப்பார்க்கிலும் உத்தமனாயிருக்கிற உம்முடைய தோழனுக்கு அதைக் கொடுத்தார். And Samuel said unto him, The LORD hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbor of thine, that is better than thou.

29 இஸ்ரவேலின் ஜெயபலமானவர் பொய்சொல்லுகிறதும் இல்லை; தாம் சொன்னதைப்பற்றி மனஸ்தாபப்படுகிறதும் இல்லை; மனம் மாற அவர் மனுஷன் அல்ல என்றான். And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent.

30 அதற்கு அவன்: நான் பாவஞ்செய்தேன்; இப்போது என் ஜனத்தின் மூப்பருக்கு முன்பாகவும், இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு முன்பாகவும் நீர் என்னைக் கனம்பண்ணி, நான் உம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரைப் பணிந்துகொள்ளும்படிக்கு, என்னோடேகூடத் திரும்பிவாரும் என்றான். Then he said, I have sinned: yet honor me now, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD thy God.

31 அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல் திரும்பிச் சவுலுக்குப் பின்சென்றான்; சவுல் கர்த்தரைப் பணிந்துகொண்டான். So Samuel turned again after Saul; and Saul worshipped the LORD.

32 பின்பு சாமுவேல்: அமலேக்கின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாகை என்னிடத்தில் கொண்டுவாருங்கள் என்றான்; ஆகாக் சந்தோஷமாய் அவனிடத்தில் வந்து, மரணத்தின் கசப்பு அற்றுப்போனது நிச்சயம் என்றான். Then said Samuel, Bring ye hither to me Agag the king of the Amalekites. And Agag came unto him delicately. And Agag said, Surely the bitterness of death is past.

33 சாமுவேல்: உன் பட்டயம் ஸ்திரீகளைப் பிள்ளையற்றவர்களாக்கினதுபோல, ஸ்திரீகளுக்குள்ளே உன் தாயும் பிள்ளையற்றவளாவாள் என்று சொல்லி; சாமுவேல் கில்காலிலே கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக ஆகாகைத் துண்டித்துப்போட்டான். And Samuel said, As the sword hath made women childless, so shall thy mother be childless among women. And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the LORD in Gilgal.

34 பின்பு சாமுவேல் ராமாவுக்குப் போனான்; சவுலோ தன் ஊராகிய கிபியாவிலிருக்கிற தன் வீட்டுக்குப் போய்விட்டான். Then Samuel went to Ramah; and Saul went up to his house to Gibeah of Saul.

35 சவுல் மரணமடையும் நாள்மட்டும் சாமுவேல் அப்புறம் அவனைக் கண்டு பேசவில்லை; இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் சவுலை ராஜாவாக்கினதற்காகக் கர்த்தர் மனஸ்தாபப்பட்டதினிமித்தம், சாமுவேல் சவுலுக்காகத் துக்கித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான். And Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death: nevertheless Samuel mourned for Saul: and the LORD repented that he had made Saul king over Israel.

2 Senaikalin Karththar sollukirathu ennavental, isravaelar ekipthilirunthu vanthapothu, amalaekku avarkalukku valimariththa seykaiyai manathilae vaiththirukkiraேn. Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.

3 Ippothum nee poy, amalaekkai madangatiththu, avanukku unndaana ellaavattaைyum sangariththu, avanmael irakkam vaikkaamal, purusharaiyum, sthireekalaiyum, pillaikalaiyum, kulanthaikalaiyum, maadukalaiyum, aadukalaiyum, ottakangalaiyum, kaluthaikalaiyum kontupodakkadavaay enkiraar entu sonnaan. Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.

4 Appoluthu savul: ithai janangalukku ariyappaduththi, thelaayimilae avarkalaith thokaipaarththaan; avarkal iranndu latcham kaalaatkalum, yoothaa janangal pathinaayirampaerumaayirunthaarkal. And Saul gathered the people together, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.

5 Savul amalaekkutaiya pattanamattum vanthu, pallaththaakkilae oru pathivitaiyai vaiththaan. And Saul came to a city of Amalek, and laid wait in the valley.

6 Savul kaeniyarai Nnokki: naan amalaekkiyarotaekooda ungalaiyum vaarikkollaathapatikku, neengal avarkal naduvilirunthu purappattu vilakippongal; Israel ekipthilirunthu vanthapothu, neengal avarkal ellaarukkum thayavuseytheerkal entan; appatiyae kaeniyar amalaekkiyarin naduvilirunthu vilakipponaarkal. And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them: for ye showed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.

7 Appoluthu savul: aavilaa thuvakki ekipthirku ethiraeyirukkira soorukkuppokum ellaimattum iruntha amalaekkiyarai madangatiththu, And Saul smote the Amalekites from Havilah until thou comest to Shur, that is over against Egypt.

8 Amalaekkiyarin raajaavaakiya aakaakai uyirotae pitiththaan; janangal yaavaraiyum pattayak karukkinaalae sangaarampannnninaan. And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.

9 Savulum janangalum, aakaakaiyum, aadumaadukalil muthaltharamaanavaikalaiyum, iranndaantharamaanavaikalaiyum, aattukkuttikalaiyum, nalamaana ellaavattaைyum, aliththuppodamanathillaamal thappavaiththu, arpamaanavaikalum uthavaathavaikalumaana sakala vasthukkalaiyum muttilum aliththuppottan. But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.

10 Appoluthu karththarutaiya vaarththai saamuvaelukku unndaaki, avar sonnathu: Then came the word of the LORD unto Samuel, saying,

11 Naan savulai raajaavaakkinathu enakku manasthaapamaayirukkirathu; avan ennaivittuth thirumpi, en vaarththaikalai niraivaettaாmarponaan entar; appoluthu saamuvael manam nonthu, iraamuluthum karththarai Nnokkik kooppittan. It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the LORD all night.

12 Maraுnaal athikaalamae saamuvael savulaich santhikkapponaan; appoluthu savul karmaelukku vanthu, thanakku oru jeyasthampam naatti, pinpu pala idangalil sentu kilkaalukkup ponaan entu, saamuvaelukku arivikkappattathu. And when Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning, it was told Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set him up a place, and is gone about, and passed on, and gone down to Gilgal.

13 Saamuvael savulinidaththil ponaan; savul avanai Nnokki: neer karththaraal aaseervathikkappattavar; karththarutaiya vaarththaiyai niraivaettinaen entan. And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou of the LORD: I have performed the commandment of the LORD.

14 Atharkuch saamuvael: appatiyaanaal en kaathukalil vilukira aadukalin saththamum, enakkuk kaetkira maadukalin saththamum enna entan. And Samuel said, What meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?

15 Atharkuch savul: amalaekkiyaridaththilirunthu avaikalaik konnduvanthaarkal; janangal aadumaadukalil nalamaanavaikalai ummutaiya thaevanaakiya karththarukkup paliyidumpatikkuth thappavaiththaarkal; mattavaikalai muttilum aliththuppottaோm entan. And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.

16 Appoluthu saamuvael: anthap paechchaை vidum, Karththar intha iraaththiriyilae enakkuch sonnathai umakku arivikkiraேn entu savulotae sonnaan. Avan: sollum entan. Then Samuel said unto Saul, Stay, and I will tell thee what the LORD hath said to me this night. And he said unto him, Say on.

17 Appoluthu saamuvael: neer ummutaiya paarvaikkuch siriyavaraayirunthapothu allavo Israel koththirangalukkuth thalaivaraaneer; Karththar ummai isravaelinmael raajaavaaka apishaekam pannnuviththaarae. And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the LORD anointed thee king over Israel?

18 Ippothum Karththar: nee poy amalaekkiyaraakiya anthap paavikalaich sangariththu, avarkalai nirmoolamaakkith theerumattum, avarkalodu yuththam pannnu entu solli, ummai antha valiyaay anuppinaar. And the LORD sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed.

19 Ippatiyirukka, neer karththarutaiya sollaikkaelaamal, kollaiyinmael paranthu, karththarutaiya paarvaikkup pollaappaanathaich seythathu enna entan. Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the LORD, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of the LORD?

20 Savul saamuvaelai Nnokki: naan karththarutaiya sollaik kaettu, Karththar ennai anuppina valiyaayp poy, amalaekkin raajaavaakiya aakaakaik konnduvanthu, amalaekkiyaraich sangaaram pannnninaen. And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.

21 Janangalo ummutaiya thaevanaakiya karththarukkuk kilkaalilae paliyidukiratharkaaka, kollaiyilae saapaththeedaakum aadumaadukalilae pirathaanamaanavaikalaip pitiththukkonndu vanthaarkal entan. But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God in Gilgal.

22 Atharkuch saamuvael: karththarutaiya saththaththirkuk geelppatikirathaippaarkkilum, sarvaanga thakanangalum palikalum karththarukkup piriyamaayirukkumo? Paliyaippaarkkilum geelppatithalum, aattukkadaakkalin ninaththaippaarkkilum sevikoduththalum uththamam. And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

23 Iranndakampannnuthal pillisooniyapaavaththirkum, murattattampannnuthal avapakthikkum vikkirakaaraathanaikkum sariyaay irukkirathu; neer karththarutaiya vaarththaiyaip purakkanniththapatiyinaalae, avar ummai raajaavaayiraathapatikkup purakkanniththuth thallinaar entan. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

24 Appoluthu savul saamuvaelai Nnokki: naan karththarutaiya kattalaiyaiyum ummutaiya vaarththaikalaiyum meerinathinaalae paavanjaெythaen; naan janangalukkup payanthu, avarkal sollaik kaettaேn. And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.

25 Ippothum neer en paavaththai manniththu, naan karththaraip panninthu kollumpatikku, ennotaekoodath thirumpivaarum entan. Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD.

26 Saamuvael savulaip paarththu: naan ummotaekoodath thirumpivaruvathillai; karththarutaiya vaarththaiyaip purakkanniththeer; neer isravaelinmael raajaavaayiraathapatikku, Karththar ummaiyum purakkanniththuth thallinaar entan. And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD hath rejected thee from being king over Israel.

27 Pokumpati saamuvael thirumpukirapothu, savul, avan saalvaiyin thongalaip pitiththukkonndaan, athu kilinthupoyittaு. And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it rent.

28 Appoluthu saamuvael avanai Nnokki: Karththar intu ummidaththiliruntha isravaelin raajyaththaik kiliththuppottu; ummaippaarkkilum uththamanaayirukkira ummutaiya tholanukku athaik koduththaar. And Samuel said unto him, The LORD hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbor of thine, that is better than thou.

29 Isravaelin jeyapalamaanavar poysollukirathum illai; thaam sonnathaippatti manasthaapappadukirathum illai; manam maara avar manushan alla entan. And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent.

30 Atharku avan: naan paavanjaெythaen; ippothu en janaththin moopparukku munpaakavum, isravaelukku munpaakavum neer ennaik kanampannnni, naan ummutaiya thaevanaakiya karththaraip panninthukollumpatikku, ennotaekoodath thirumpivaarum entan. Then he said, I have sinned: yet honor me now, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD thy God.

31 Appoluthu saamuvael thirumpich savulukkup pinsentan; savul karththaraip panninthukonndaan. So Samuel turned again after Saul; and Saul worshipped the LORD.

32 Pinpu saamuvael: amalaekkin raajaavaakiya aakaakai ennidaththil konnduvaarungal entan; aakaak santhoshamaay avanidaththil vanthu, maranaththin kasappu attaுpponathu nichchayam entan. Then said Samuel, Bring ye hither to me Agag the king of the Amalekites. And Agag came unto him delicately. And Agag said, Surely the bitterness of death is past.

And Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death: nevertheless Samuel mourned for Saul: and the LORD repented that he had made Saul king over Israel.
