இவர்கள் தங்கள் வம்ச அட்டவணையைத் தேடி, அதைக் காணாமற்போய் ஆசாரிய ஊழியத்துக்கு விலக்கமானவர்கள் என்று எண்ணப்பட்டார்கள்.

லேவியராகமம் 4:3
அபிஷேகம் பெற்ற ஆசாரியன், ஜனங்கள் குற்றத்திற்கு உட்படத்தக்கதாகப் பாவஞ்செய்தால், தான் செய்த பாவத்தினிமித்தம் பழுதற்ற ஒரு இளங்காளையைப் பாவநிவாரண பலியாகக் கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் கொண்டுவரக்கடவன்.

இஸ்ரவேலர் எல்லாரும் தங்கள் வம்ச வரலாற்றின்படி எண்ணப்பட்டார்கள்; இவர்கள் நாமங்கள் இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் புஸ்தகத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறது, யூதா கோத்திரத்தார் தங்கள் துரோகத்தினிமித்தம், பாபிலோனுக்குச் சிறைபிடித்துக்கொண்டுபோகப்பட்டார்கள்.

அப்பொழுது வம்ச அட்டவணைகளைப் பார்க்கிறதற்கு, நான் பிரபுக்களையும் அதிகாரிகளையும் ஜனங்களையும் கூடிவரச்செய்ய, என் தேவன் என் மனதிலே ஒரு எண்ணத்தை உண்டாக்கினார்; முந்தி வந்தவர்களின் வம்ச அட்டவணைப் புஸ்தகம் அப்பொழுது எனக்கு அகப்பட்டது; அதிலே எழுதியிருக்க நான் கண்டது என்னவென்றால்,

நெகேமியா 13:29
என் தேவனே, அவர்கள் ஆசாரிய ஊழியத்தையும், ஆசாரிய ஊழியத்துக்கும் லேவியருக்கும் இருக்கிற உடன்படிக்கையையும் தீட்டுப்படுத்தினார்களென்று அவர்களை நினைத்துக்கொள்ளும்.
