ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਉੱਥੇ-ਉੱਥੇ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ। ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਅਮਾਲੇਕੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਤਮ ਕੀਤਾ। ਮੈਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇੱਕ ਆਦਮੀ ਅਗਾਗ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਪਸ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਲਿਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ।
