הַאֲזִ֣ינָה Give ear ʾāzan אֱ֭לֹהִים O God; ʾĕlōhîm תְּפִלָּתִ֑י to my prayer, tĕpillâ וְאַל not thyself ʾal תִּ֝תְעַלַּ֗ם and hide ʿālam מִתְּחִנָּתִֽי׃ from my supplication. tĕḥinnâ

הַקְשִׁ֣יבָה Attend qāšab לִּ֣י וַעֲנֵ֑נִי unto me, and hear ʿānâ אָרִ֖יד me: I mourn rûd בְּשִׂיחִ֣י in my complaint, śîaḥ וְאָהִֽימָה׃ and make a noise; hûm

לִ֭בִּי My heart lēb יָחִ֣יל is sore pained ḥûl בְּקִרְבִּ֑י within qereb וְאֵימ֥וֹת me: and the terrors ʾêmâ מָ֝֗וֶת of death māwet נָפְל֥וּ are fallen nāpal עָלָֽי׃ upon me. ʿal

יִרְאָ֣ה Fearfulness yirʾâ וָ֭רַעַד and trembling raʿad יָ֣בֹא are come bôʾ בִ֑י וַ֝תְּכַסֵּ֗נִי hath overwhelmed me. kāsâ פַּלָּצֽוּת׃ upon me, and horror pallāṣût

וָאֹמַ֗ר And I said, ʾāmar מִֽי mî יִתֶּן Oh that nātan לִּ֣י אֵ֭בֶר I had wings ʾēber כַּיּוֹנָ֗ה like a dove! yônâ אָע֥וּפָה would I fly away, ʿûp וְאֶשְׁכֹּֽנָה׃ and be at rest. šākan

אָחִ֣ישָׁה I would hasten ḥûš מִפְלָ֣ט my escape miplāṭ לִ֑י מֵר֖וּחַ from the windy rûaḥ סֹעָ֣ה storm sāʿâ מִסָּֽעַר׃ tempest. saʿar

יוֹמָ֤ם Day yômām וָלַ֗יְלָה and night layil יְסוֹבְבֻ֥הָ they go about sābab עַל it upon ʿal חוֹמֹתֶ֑יהָ the walls ḥômâ וְאָ֖וֶן thereof: mischief ʾāwen וְעָמָ֣ל also and sorrow ʿāmāl בְּקִרְבָּֽהּ׃ in the midst of it. qereb

הַוּ֥וֹת Wickedness hawwâ בְּקִרְבָּ֑הּ in the midst qereb וְֽלֹא not lōʾ יָמִ֥ישׁ depart mûš מֵ֝רְחֹבָ֗הּ from her streets. rĕḥōb תֹּ֣ךְ thereof: deceit tōk וּמִרְמָֽה׃ and guile mirmâ

כִּ֤י For kî לֹֽא not lōʾ אוֹיֵ֥ב an enemy ʾōyēb יְחָֽרְפֵ֗נִי reproached ḥārap וְאֶ֫שָּׂ֥א me; then I could have borne nāśāʾ לֹֽא neither lōʾ מְ֭שַׂנְאִי he that hated śānēʾ עָלַ֣י against ʿal הִגְדִּ֑יל me did magnify gādal וְאֶסָּתֵ֥ר me; then I would have hid myself sātar מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃ from him: min

וְאַתָּ֣ה But thou, ʾattâ אֱנ֣וֹשׁ a man ʾĕnôš כְּעֶרְכִּ֑י mine equal, ʿērek אַ֝לּוּפִ֗י my guide, ʾallûp וּמְיֻדָּֽעִי׃ and mine acquaintance. yādaʿ

אֲשֶׁ֣ר ʾăšer יַ֭חְדָּו together, yaḥad נַמְתִּ֣יק We took sweet mātaq ס֑וֹד counsel sôd בְּבֵ֥ית unto the house bayit אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים of God ʾĕlōhîm נְהַלֵּ֥ךְ walked hālak בְּרָֽגֶשׁ׃ in company. regeš

יַשִּׁ֤ימָ֨וֶת׀ Let death seize nāšāʾ עָלֵ֗ימוֹ upon ʿal יֵרְד֣וּ them, let them go down yārad שְׁא֣וֹל into hell: šĕʾôl חַיִּ֑ים quick ḥay כִּֽי for kî רָע֖וֹת wickedness raʿ בִּמְגוּרָ֣ם in their dwellings, māgûr בְּקִרְבָּֽם׃ among them. qereb

עֶ֤רֶב Evening, ʿereb וָבֹ֣קֶר and morning, bōqer וְ֭צָהֳרַיִם and at noon, ṣōhar אָשִׂ֣יחָה will I pray, śîaḥ וְאֶהֱמֶ֑ה and cry aloud: hāmâ וַיִּשְׁמַ֥ע and he shall hear šāmaʿ קוֹלִֽי׃ my voice. qôl

פָּ֘דָ֤ה He hath delivered pādâ בְשָׁל֣וֹם in peace šālôm נַ֭פְשִׁי my soul nepeš מִקֲּרָב from the battle qĕrāb לִ֑י כִּֽי against me: for kî בְ֝רַבִּ֗ים many rab הָי֥וּ there were hāyâ עִמָּדִֽי׃ with me. ʿimmād

יִשְׁמַ֤ע׀ shall hear, šāmaʿ אֵ֨ל׀ God ʾēl וְֽיַעֲנֵם֮ and afflict ʿānâ וְיֹ֤שֵׁ֥ב them, even he that abideth yāšab קֶ֗דֶם of old. qedem סֶ֥לָה Selah. selâ אֲשֶׁ֤ר Because ʾăšer אֵ֣ין they have no ʾayin חֲלִיפ֣וֹת changes, ḥălîpâ לָ֑מוֹ וְלֹ֖א not lōʾ יָרְא֣וּ therefore they fear yārēʾ אֱלֹהִֽים׃ God. ʾĕlōhîm

שָׁלַ֣ח He hath put forth šālaḥ יָ֭דָיו his hands yād בִּשְׁלֹמָ֗יו against such as be at peace šālôm חִלֵּ֥ל with him: he hath broken ḥālal בְּרִיתֽוֹ׃ his covenant. bĕrît

חָלְק֤וּ׀ were smoother ḥālaq מַחְמָאֹ֣ת than butter, maḥămāʾâ פִּיו֮ of his mouth pe וּֽקֲרָב but war qĕrāb לִ֫בּ֥וֹ in his heart: lēb רַכּ֖וּ were softer rākak דְבָרָ֥יו his words dābār מִשֶּׁ֗מֶן than oil, šemen וְהֵ֣מָּה yet they hēm פְתִחֽוֹת׃ drawn swords. pĕtiḥâ

הַשְׁלֵ֤ךְ Cast šālak עַל upon ʿal יְהוָ֨ה׀ the Lord, yĕhōwâ יְהָבְךָ֮ thy burden yĕhāb וְה֪וּא and he hûʾ יְכַ֫לְכְּלֶ֥ךָ shall sustain kûl לֹא lōʾ יִתֵּ֖ן suffer nātan לְעוֹלָ֥ם thee: he shall never ʿôlām מ֗וֹט to be moved. môṭ לַצַּדִּֽיק׃ the righteous ṣaddîq

וְאַתָּ֤ה But thou, ʾattâ אֱלֹהִ֨ים׀ O God, ʾĕlōhîm תּוֹרִדֵ֬ם׀ shalt bring them down yārad לִבְאֵ֬ר into the pit bĕʾēr שַׁ֗חַת of destruction: šaḥat אַנְשֵׁ֤י men ʾĕnôš דָמִ֣ים bloody dām וּ֭מִרְמָה and deceitful mirmâ לֹא shall not lōʾ יֶחֱצ֣וּ live out half ḥāṣâ יְמֵיהֶ֑ם their days; yôm וַ֝אֲנִ֗י but I ʾănî אֶבְטַח will trust in thee. bāṭaḥ בָּֽךְ׃
