לַמְנַצֵּ֗חַ To the chief Musician, nāṣaḥ מַשְׂכִּ֥יל Maschil, maśkîl לִבְנֵי for the sons bēn קֹֽרַח׃ of Korah. qōraḥ

כְּאַיָּ֗ל As the hart ʾayyāl תַּעֲרֹ֥ג panteth ʿārag עַל after ʿal אֲפִֽיקֵי brooks, ʾāpîq מָ֑יִם the water mayim כֵּ֤ן so kēn נַפְשִׁ֨י my soul nepeš תַעֲרֹ֖ג panteth ʿārag אֵלֶ֣יךָ after ʾēl אֱלֹהִֽים׃ thee, O God. ʾĕlōhîm

צָמְאָ֬ה thirsteth ṣāmēʾ נַפְשִׁ֨י׀ My soul nepeš לֵאלֹהִים֮ for God, ʾĕlōhîm לְאֵ֪ל God: ʾēl חָ֥י for the living ḥay מָתַ֥י when mātay אָב֑וֹא shall I come bôʾ וְ֝אֵרָאֶ֗ה and appear rāʾâ פְּנֵ֣י before pānîm אֱלֹהִֽים׃ God? ʾĕlōhîm

הָֽיְתָה have been hāyâ לִּ֬י דִמְעָתִ֣י My tears dimʿâ לֶ֭חֶם my meat leḥem יוֹמָ֣ם day yômām וָלָ֑יְלָה and night, layil בֶּאֱמֹ֥ר say ʾāmar אֵלַ֥י unto ʾēl כָּל kōl הַ֝יּ֗וֹם while they continually yôm אַיֵּ֥ה me, Where ʾayyē אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃ thy God? ʾĕlōhîm

אֵ֤לֶּה these ʾēlle אֶזְכְּרָ֨ה׀ When I remember zākar וְאֶשְׁפְּכָ֬ה I pour out šāpak עָלַ֨י׀ in ʿal נַפְשִׁ֗י my soul nepeš כִּ֤י me: for kî אֶֽעֱבֹ֨ר׀ I had gone ʿābar בַּסָּךְ֮ with the multitude, sok אֶדַּדֵּ֗ם I went dādâ עַד with them to ʿad בֵּ֥ית the house bayit אֱלֹ֫הִ֥ים of God, ʾĕlōhîm בְּקוֹל with the voice qôl רִנָּ֥ה of joy rinnâ וְתוֹדָ֗ה and praise, tôdâ הָמ֥וֹן with a multitude hāmôn חוֹגֵֽג׃ that kept holyday. ḥāgag

מַה Why mâ תִּשְׁתּ֬וֹחֲחִ֨י׀ art thou cast down, šāḥaḥ נַפְשִׁי֮ O my soul? nepeš וַתֶּהֱמִ֪י and art thou disquieted hāmâ עָ֫לָ֥י in ʿal הוֹחִ֣לִי me? hope yāḥal לֵֽ֭אלֹהִים thou in God: ʾĕlōhîm כִּי for kî ע֥וֹד I shall yet ʿôd אוֹדֶ֗נּוּ praise yādâ יְשׁוּע֥וֹת him the help yĕšûʿâ פָּנָֽיו׃ of his countenance. pānîm

אֱֽלֹהַ֗י O my God, ʾĕlōhîm עָלַי֮ within ʿal נַפְשִׁ֪י my soul nepeš תִשְׁתּ֫וֹחָ֥ח is cast down šāḥaḥ עַל me: therefore ʿal כֵּ֗ן kēn אֶ֭זְכָּרְךָ will I remember zākar מֵאֶ֣רֶץ thee from the land ʾereṣ יַרְדֵּ֑ן of Jordan, yardēn וְ֝חֶרְמוֹנִ֗ים and of the Hermonites, ḥermônîm מֵהַ֥ר from the hill har מִצְעָֽר׃ Mizar. miṣʿār

תְּהֽוֹם Deep tĕhôm אֶל unto ʾēl תְּה֣וֹם deep tĕhôm ק֭וֹרֵא calleth qārāʾ לְק֣וֹל at the noise qôl צִנּוֹרֶ֑יךָ of thy waterspouts: ṣinnûr כָּֽל all kōl מִשְׁבָּרֶ֥יךָ thy waves mišbār וְ֝גַלֶּ֗יךָ and thy billows gal עָלַ֥י over me. ʿal עָבָֽרוּ׃ are gone ʿābar

יוֹמָ֤ם׀ in the daytime, yômām יְצַוֶּ֬ה will command ṣāwâ יְהוָ֨ה׀ the Lord yĕhōwâ חַסְדּ֗וֹ his lovingkindness ḥēsēd וּ֭בַלַּיְלָה and in the night layil שִׁירֹ֣ה his song šîr עִמִּ֑י with ʿim תְּ֝פִלָּ֗ה me, my prayer tĕpillâ לְאֵ֣ל unto the God ʾēl חַיָּֽי׃ of my life. ḥay

אוֹמְרָ֤ה׀ I will say ʾāmar לְאֵ֥ל unto God ʾēl סַלְעִי֮ my rock, selaʿ לָמָ֪ה Why mâ שְׁכַ֫חְתָּ֥נִי hast thou forgotten šākaḥ לָֽמָּה me? why mâ קֹדֵ֥ר I mourning qādar אֵלֵ֗ךְ go hālak בְּלַ֣חַץ because of the oppression laḥaṣ אוֹיֵֽב׃ of the enemy? ʾōyēb

בְּרֶ֤צַח׀ with a sword reṣaḥ בְּֽעַצְמוֹתַ֗י in my bones, ʿeṣem חֵרְפ֥וּנִי reproach ḥārap צוֹרְרָ֑י mine enemies ṣārar בְּאָמְרָ֥ם me; while they say ʾāmar אֵלַ֥י unto ʾēl כָּל kōl הַ֝יּ֗וֹם daily yôm אַיֵּ֥ה me, Where ʾayyē אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃ thy God? ʾĕlōhîm
