  1. מִשְׁלֵ֗י The proverbs māšāl שְׁלֹ֫מֹ֥ה of Solomon. šĕlōmō בֵּ֣ן son bēn חָ֭כָם A wise ḥākām יְשַׂמַּח maketh a glad śāmaḥ אָ֑ב father: ʾāb וּבֵ֥ן son bēn כְּ֝סִ֗יל but a foolish kĕsîl תּוּגַ֥ת the heaviness tûgâ אִמּֽוֹ׃ of his mother. ʾēm
  2. לֹא nothing: lōʾ י֭וֹעִילוּ profit yāʿal אוֹצְר֣וֹת Treasures ʾôṣār רֶ֑שַׁע of wickedness rešaʿ וּ֝צְדָקָ֗ה but righteousness ṣĕdāqâ תַּצִּ֥יל delivereth nāṣal מִמָּֽוֶת׃ from death. māwet
  3. לֹֽא will not lōʾ יַרְעִ֣יב to famish: rāʿēb יְ֭הוָה The Lord yĕhōwâ נֶ֣פֶשׁ suffer the soul nepeš צַדִּ֑יק of the righteous ṣaddîq וְהַוַּ֖ת the substance hawwâ רְשָׁעִ֣ים of the wicked. rāšāʿ יֶהְדֹּֽף׃ but he casteth away hādap
  4. רָ֗אשׁ He becometh poor rûš עֹשֶׂ֥ה that dealeth ʿāśâ כַף hand: kap רְמִיָּ֑ה a slack rĕmiyyâ וְיַ֖ד but the hand yād חָרוּצִ֣ים of the diligent ḥărûṣ תַּעֲשִֽׁיר׃ maketh rich. ʿāšar
  5. אֹגֵ֣ר He that gathereth ʾāgar בַּ֭קַּיִץ in summer qayiṣ בֵּ֣ן son: bēn מַשְׂכִּ֑יל a wise śākal נִרְדָּ֥ם he that sleepeth rādam בַּ֝קָּצִ֗יר in harvest qāṣîr בֵּ֣ן a son bēn מֵבִֽישׁ׃ that causeth shame. bûš
  6. בְּ֭רָכוֹת Blessings bĕrākâ לְרֹ֣אשׁ upon the head rōš צַדִּ֑יק of the just: ṣaddîq וּפִ֥י the mouth pe רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים of the wicked. rāšāʿ יְכַסֶּ֥ה covereth kāsâ חָמָֽס׃ but violence ḥāmās
  7. זֵ֣כֶר The memory zēker צַ֭דִּיק of the just ṣaddîq לִבְרָכָ֑ה blessed: bĕrākâ וְשֵׁ֖ם but the name šēm רְשָׁעִ֣ים of the wicked rāšāʿ יִרְקָֽב׃ shall rot. rāqab
  8. חֲכַם The wise ḥākām לֵ֭ב in heart lēb יִקַּ֣ח will receive lāqaḥ מִצְוֹ֑ת commandments: miṣwâ וֶאֱוִ֥יל fool ʾĕwîl שְׂ֝פָתַ֗יִם but a prating śāpâ יִלָּבֵֽט׃ shall fall. lābaṭ
  9. הוֹלֵ֣ךְ He that walketh hālak בַּ֭תֹּם uprightly tōm יֵ֣לֶךְ walketh hālak בֶּ֑טַח surely: beṭaḥ וּמְעַקֵּ֥שׁ but he that perverteth ʿāqaš דְּ֝רָכָ֗יו his ways derek יִוָּדֵֽעַ׃ shall be known. yādaʿ
  10. קֹ֣רֵֽץ He that winketh qāraṣ עַ֭יִן with the eye ʿayin יִתֵּ֣ן causeth nātan עַצָּ֑בֶת sorrow: ʿaṣṣebet וֶאֱוִ֥יל fool ʾĕwîl שְׂ֝פָתַ֗יִם but a prating śāpâ יִלָּבֵֽט׃ shall fall. lābaṭ
  11. מְק֣וֹר a well māqôr חַ֭יִּים of life: ḥay פִּ֣י The mouth pe צַדִּ֑יק of a righteous ṣaddîq וּפִ֥י the mouth pe רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים of the wicked. rāšāʿ יְכַסֶּ֥ה covereth kāsâ חָמָֽס׃ but violence ḥāmās
  12. שִׂ֭נְאָה Hatred śinʾâ תְּעֹרֵ֣ר stirreth up ʿûr מְדָנִ֑ים strifes: mĕdān וְעַ֥ל ʿal כָּל all kōl פְּ֝שָׁעִ֗ים sins. pešaʿ תְּכַסֶּ֥ה covereth kāsâ אַהֲבָֽה׃ but love ʾahăbâ
  13. בְּשִׂפְתֵ֣י In the lips śāpâ נָ֭בוֹן of him that hath understanding bîn תִּמָּצֵ֣א is found: māṣāʾ חָכְמָ֑ה wisdom ḥokmâ וְ֝שֵׁ֗בֶט but a rod šēbeṭ לְגֵ֣ו for the back gēw חֲסַר of him that is void ḥāsēr לֵֽב׃ of understanding. lēb
  14. חֲכָמִ֥ים Wise ḥākām יִצְפְּנוּ lay up ṣāpan דָ֑עַת knowledge: daʿat וּפִֽי but the mouth pe אֱ֝וִיל of the foolish ʾĕwîl מְחִתָּ֥ה destruction. mĕḥittâ קְרֹבָֽה׃ near qārôb
  15. ה֣וֹן wealth hôn עָ֭שִׁיר The rich man's ʿāšîr קִרְיַ֣ת city: qiryâ עֻזּ֑וֹ his strong ʿōz מְחִתַּ֖ת the destruction mĕḥittâ דַּלִּ֣ים of the poor dal רֵישָֽׁם׃ their poverty. rêš
  16. פְּעֻלַּ֣ת The labour pĕʿullâ צַדִּ֣יק of the righteous ṣaddîq לְחַיִּ֑ים to life: ḥay תְּבוּאַ֖ת the fruit tĕbûʾâ רָשָׁ֣ע of the wicked rāšāʿ לְחַטָּֽאת׃ to sin. ḥaṭṭāʾâ
  17. אֹ֣רַח He the way ʾōraḥ לְ֭חַיִּים of life ḥay שׁוֹמֵ֣ר that keepeth šāmar מוּסָ֑ר instruction: mûsār וְעֹזֵ֖ב but he that refuseth ʿāzab תּוֹכַ֣חַת reproof tôkēḥâ מַתְעֶֽה׃ erreth. tāʿâ
  18. מְכַסֶּ֣ה He that hideth kāsâ שִׂ֭נְאָה hatred śinʾâ שִׂפְתֵי lips, śāpâ שָׁ֑קֶר lying šeqer וּמוֹצִ֥א and he that uttereth yāṣāʾ דִ֝בָּ֗ה a slander, dibbâ ה֣וּא hûʾ כְסִֽיל׃ a fool. kĕsîl
  19. בְּרֹ֣ב In the multitude rōb דְּ֭בָרִים of words dābār לֹ֣א not lōʾ יֶחְדַּל there wanteth ḥādal פָּ֑שַׁע sin: pešaʿ וְחוֹשֵׂ֖ךְ but he that refraineth ḥāśak שְׂפָתָ֣יו his lips śāpâ מַשְׂכִּֽיל׃ wise. śākal
  20. כֶּ֣סֶף silver: kesep נִ֭בְחָר choice bāḥar לְשׁ֣וֹן The tongue lāšôn צַדִּ֑יק of the just ṣaddîq לֵ֖ב the heart lēb רְשָׁעִ֣ים of the wicked rāšāʿ כִּמְעָֽט׃ little worth. mĕʿaṭ
  21. שִׂפְתֵ֣י The lips śāpâ צַ֭דִּיק of the righteous ṣaddîq יִרְע֣וּ feed rāʿâ רַבִּ֑ים many: rab וֶֽ֝אֱוִילִ֗ים but fools ʾĕwîl בַּחֲסַר for want ḥāsēr לֵ֥ב of wisdom. lēb יָמֽוּתוּ׃ die mût
  22. בִּרְכַּ֣ת The blessing bĕrākâ יְ֭הוָה of the Lord, yĕhōwâ הִ֣יא it hûʾ תַעֲשִׁ֑יר maketh rich, ʿāšar וְלֹֽא no lōʾ יוֹסִ֖ף and he addeth yāsap עֶ֣צֶב sorrow ʿeṣeb עִמָּֽהּ׃ with it. ʿim
  23. כִּשְׂח֣וֹק as sport śĕḥôq לִ֭כְסִיל to a fool kĕsîl עֲשׂ֣וֹת to do ʿāśâ זִמָּ֑ה mischief: zimmâ וְ֝חָכְמָ֗ה hath wisdom. ḥokmâ לְאִ֣ישׁ but a man ʾîš תְּבוּנָֽה׃ of understanding tābûn
  24. מְגוֹרַ֣ת The fear mĕgôra רָ֭שָׁע of the wicked, rāšāʿ הִ֣יא it hûʾ תְבוֹאֶ֑נּוּ shall come upon bôʾ וְתַאֲוַ֖ת him: but the desire taʾăwâ צַדִּיקִ֣ים of the righteous ṣaddîq יִתֵּֽן׃ shall be granted. nātan
  25. כַּעֲב֣וֹר passeth, ʿābar ס֭וּפָה As the whirlwind sûpâ וְאֵ֣ין no ʾayin רָשָׁ֑ע so the wicked rāšāʿ וְ֝צַדִּ֗יק but the righteous ṣaddîq יְס֣וֹד foundation. yĕsôd עוֹלָֽם׃ an everlasting ʿôlām
  26. כַּחֹ֤מֶץ׀ As vinegar ḥōmeṣ לַשִּׁנַּ֗יִם to the teeth, šēn וְכֶעָשָׁ֥ן and as smoke ʿāšān לָעֵינָ֑יִם to the eyes, ʿayin כֵּ֥ן so kēn הֶ֝עָצֵ֗ל the sluggard ʿāṣēl לְשֹׁלְחָֽיו׃ to them that send him. šālaḥ
  27. יִרְאַ֣ת The fear yirʾâ יְ֭הוָה of the Lord yĕhōwâ תּוֹסִ֣יף prolongeth yāsap יָמִ֑ים days: yôm וּשְׁנ֖וֹת but the years šāne רְשָׁעִ֣ים of the wicked rāšāʿ תִּקְצֹֽרְנָה׃ shall be shortened. qāṣar
  28. תּוֹחֶ֣לֶת The hope tôḥelet צַדִּיקִ֣ים of the righteous ṣaddîq שִׂמְחָ֑ה gladness: śimḥâ וְתִקְוַ֖ת but the expectation tiqwâ רְשָׁעִ֣ים of the wicked rāšāʿ תֹּאבֵֽד׃ shall perish. ʾābad
  29. מָע֣וֹז strength māʿôz לַ֭תֹּם to the upright: tōm דֶּ֣רֶךְ The way derek יְהוָ֑ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ וּ֝מְחִתָּ֗ה but destruction mĕḥittâ לְפֹ֣עֲלֵי to the workers pāʿal אָֽוֶן׃ of iniquity. ʾāwen
  30. צַדִּ֣יק The righteous ṣaddîq לְעוֹלָ֣ם shall never ʿôlām בַּל bal יִמּ֑וֹט be removed: môṭ וּ֝רְשָׁעִ֗ים but the wicked rāšāʿ לֹ֣א shall not lōʾ יִשְׁכְּנוּ inhabit šākan אָֽרֶץ׃ the earth. ʾereṣ
  31. פִּֽי The mouth pe צַ֭דִּיק of the just ṣaddîq יָנ֣וּב bringeth forth nûb חָכְמָ֑ה wisdom: ḥokmâ וּלְשׁ֥וֹן tongue lāšôn תַּ֝הְפֻּכ֗וֹת but the froward tahpukâ תִּכָּרֵֽת׃ shall be cut out. kārat
  32. שִׂפְתֵ֣י The lips śāpâ צַ֭דִּיק of the righteous ṣaddîq יֵדְע֣וּן know yādaʿ רָצ֑וֹן what is acceptable: rāṣôn וּפִ֥י but the mouth pe רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים of the wicked rāšāʿ תַּהְפֻּכֽוֹת׃ frowardness. tahpukâ
