Proverbs 26:1-26 in Oriya

1 As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honour is not seemly for a fool.

2 As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.

3 A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the fool’s back.

4 Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.

5 Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.

6 He that sendeth a message by the hand of a fool cutteth off the feet, and drinketh damage.

7 The legs of the lame are not equal: so is a parable in the mouth of fools.

8 As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool.

9 As a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouth of fools.

10 The great God that formed all things both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors.

11 As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.

12 Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

13 The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets.

14 As the door turneth upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed.

15 The slothful hideth his hand in his bosom; it grieveth him to bring it again to his mouth.

16 The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason.

17 He that passeth by, and meddleth with strife belonging not to him, is like one that taketh a dog by the ears.

18 As a mad man who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death,

19 So is the man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am not I in sport?

20 Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.

21 As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.

22 The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

23 Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross.

24 He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him;

25 When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart.

26 Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shewed before the whole congregation.

1 ଗ୍ରୀଷ୍ମକାଳ ରେ ହିମ ଓ ଫସଲ ସମୟରେ ବୃଷ୍ଟି ସହେିପରି ମୂର୍ଖକୁ ସମ୍ମାନ ଅନୁପୟୁକ୍ତ ଅଟେ।

2 ଘରଚଟିଆ ଭ୍ରମଣ କରୁଥିବା ବେଳେ ଓ ଡ଼ାଳ ଚଟିଆ ଡ଼ଉଡ଼ୁଥିବା ବେଳେ ସପରେି ଆକାରଣ ରେ ଦତ୍ତ ଶାପ ନିକଟକୁ ଆ ସେ ନାହିଁ।
As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.

3 ଅଶ୍ବ ପାଇଁ କୋରଡ଼ା, ଗଧ ପାଇଁ ଲଗାମ, ପୁଣି ମୂର୍ଖର ପିଠି ପାଇଁ ବାଡ଼ି ଦରକାର।

4 ମୂର୍ଖକୁ ତା'ର ଅଜ୍ଞାନତା ଅନୁସାରେ ଉତ୍ତର ଦିଅ ନାହିଁ। ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଯଦି ଏପରି ଉତ୍ତର ଦିଅ, ତବେେ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମଧ୍ଯ ତାହାର ତୁଲ୍ଯ ହବେ।
Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.

5 ମୂର୍ଖକୁ ତା'ର ଅଜ୍ଞାନତାନୁସା ରେ ଉତ୍ତର ଦିଅ। ନୋହିଲେ ସେ ଆପଣା ଦୃଷ୍ଟି ରେ ଆପଣାକୁ ଜ୍ଞାନୀ ବୋଧ କରିବ।
Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.

6 ମୂର୍ଖ ମାଧ୍ଯମ ରେ ଯେ ସମାଚାର ପଠାଏ, ସେ ଆପଣା ପାଦ ଆପେ କାଟି କ୍ଷତି ଭୋଗ କରେ। ସେ ନିଜ ଉପରକୁ ଅସୁବିଧା ନିଜେ ଆଣେ।

7 ଲେଙ୍ଗଡ଼ୋର ଚରଣ ଯେପରି ଅଦରକାରୀ ଭାବେ ଝୁଲୁଥାଏ, ଅଜ୍ଞାନର ମୁଖ ରେ ହିତାପଦେେଶ ବାକ୍ଯ ଠିକ୍ ସହେିପରି।

8 ପ୍ରସ୍ତରକୁ ବାଟୁଳି ରେ ବାନ୍ଧିବା ପାଇଁ ଚେଷ୍ଟା କରିବା ଯେପରି ବ୍ଯବହାର୍ୟ୍ଯହୀନ, ସହେିପରି ନିର୍ବୋଧକୁ ସମ୍ମାନ ଦବୋ ଅଟେ।
As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool.

9 ମତ୍ତଲୋକର ହସ୍ତ ରେ କଣ୍ଟକ ଉଠାୟିବା ଯେପରି, ମୂର୍ଖମାନଙ୍କ ମୁଖ ରେ ହିତାପଦେେଶ ବାକ୍ଯ ଠିକ୍ ସହେିପରି ଅଟେ।
As a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouth of fools.

10 ବାଣୁଆ ଯେପରି ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କୁ କ୍ଷତବିକ୍ଷତ କରେ, ସପରେି ସହେି ଲୋକ ଯେ ମୂର୍ଖ ପଥିକକୁ ବତନେ ଦିଏ ଓ ଯେ ମଦୁଆକୁ ବତନେ ଦିଏ।
The great God that formed all things both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors.

11 ଆପଣା ବାନ୍ତି ପ୍ରତି ଫରେିବା କୁକୁରର ଯେପରି, ବାରମ୍ବାର ଆପଣା ଅଜ୍ଞାନତା ରେ କର୍ମ କରିବା ମୂର୍ଖ ସପରେି।
As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.

12 ଯେଉଁ ମୂର୍ଖ ଲୋକର ବହୁତ ଆଶା ଅଛି, ଅନ୍ୟ ଜଣ ଅପେକ୍ଷା ୟିଏ ଭାବେ ସେ ଜ୍ଞାନୀ, ସେତବେେଳେ ସେ ଜ୍ଞାନୀ ନ ଥାଏ।
Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

13 ଅଳସୁଆ କ ହେ, ବାଟରେ ସିଂହ ଅଛି, ସଡ଼କରେ ସିଂହ ଅଛି।
The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets.

14 କବଜା ରେ ଯେପରି କବାଟ ଝୁଲେ, ଠିକ୍ ସହେିପରି ଅଳସୁଆ ଆପଣା ଶୟ୍ଯା ରେ ଥାଇ ଝୁଲୁଥାଏ।
As the door turneth upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed.

15 ଅଳସୁଆ ଥାଳି ରେ ହାତ ବୁଡ଼ାଇ ଆଉଥରେ ତାହା ମୁଖକୁ ନବୋକୁ ଥକିୟାଏ।
The slothful hideth his hand in his bosom; it grieveth him to bring it again to his mouth.

16 ସାତଜଣ ସୁବିଚାରଶୁଦ୍ଧ ଉତ୍ତରକାରୀ ଅପେକ୍ଷା ଅଳସୁଆ ଆପଣା ଦୃଷ୍ଟି ରେ ଜ୍ଞାନବାନ୍।
The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason.

17 ଜଣେ ପଥିକ ୟିଏ ୟୁକ୍ତିତର୍କ ରେ ଜଡ଼ିତ ହୁଏ, ଯାହା ତା'ର ସମ୍ପର୍କ ରେ ନ ଥାଏ। ସେ କୁକୁରର କାନ ଧରିବା ଲୋକତୁଲ୍ଯ ଅଟୋ

18 ଆପଣା ପ୍ରତିବେଶୀକି ଯେଉଁଲୋକ ଭୁଲାଇ କ ହେ, ମୁଁ କୌତୁକ କରୁଛି।
As a mad man who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death,

19 ସେ ଅଗ୍ନିବାଣ, ତୀର ଓ ମୃତ୍ଯୁ ନିକ୍ଷପକୋରୀ ବାତୁଳ ପରି ଅଟେ।
So is the man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am not I in sport?

20 କାଠ ବିନା ଯେପରି ନିଆଁ ଲିଭିୟାଏ ଏବଂ କଳହକାରୀ ବିନା ବାଜେ କଥା ସ୍ଥଗିତ ହାଇୟୋଏ।
Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.

21 ଯେପରି ଭାବରେ ଜ୍ବଳନ୍ତା ଅଙ୍ଗାରକୁ ଅଙ୍ଗାର ଆଲୋକ ଦିଏ ଅଗ୍ନିକୁ କାଠ ଠିକ୍ ସହେିପରି ବିବାଦ ବଢ଼ାଇବାକୁ କଳିହୁଡା ଲୋକ ଆରମ୍ଭ କରିଥାଏ।
As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.

22 ଭର୍ତ୍ସନା ମନପସନ୍ଦ ଖାଦ୍ୟପରି ଅଟେ, ଏହା ଉଦରର ଅନ୍ତରାଳଯକୁ ଚାଲିୟାଏ।

23 ଅନୁରାଗୀ କଥା ଓ ମନ୍ଦ ହୃଦଯ ରୂପା ଖାଦ ରେ ମଣ୍ଡିତ ମୃତ୍ତିକା ପାତ୍ର ତୁଲ୍ଯ ଅଟେ।
Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross.

24 ଘୃଣାକାରୀ ନିଜ କଥା ରେ କପଟ କରେ, କିନ୍ତୁ ସେ ହୃଦଯ ରେ ପ୍ରବଞ୍ଚନା ରେଖ।

25 ସେ ମିଷ୍ଟ ସ୍ବର ରେ କହିଲେ, ତାହାକୁ ବିଶ୍ବାସ କର ନାହିଁ। ଯେ ହତେୁ ତା'ର ହୃଦଯ ରେ ସାତଟା ଘୃଣ୍ଯ ବିଷଯ ଥାଏ।

26 ତାହାର ଘୃଣା କପଟ ରେ ଆପଣାକୁ ଆବୃତ୍ତ କଲେ ହେଁ, ତା'ର ମନ୍ଦତା ସଭା ରେ ପ୍ରକାଶ ପାଏ।
