അങ്ങനെ ഒരുത്തൻ കുതിരപ്പുറത്തു കയറി അവനെ എതിരേറ്റു ചെന്നു: സമാധാനമോ എന്നു രാജാവു ചോദിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. സമാധാനം കൊണ്ടു നിനക്കു എന്തു കാര്യം? തിരിഞ്ഞു എന്റെ പുറകിൽ വരിക എന്നു യേഹൂ പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോൾ കാവൽക്കാരൻ: ദൂതൻ അവരുടെ അടുക്കലോളം ചെന്നിട്ടും മടങ്ങിവരുന്നില്ല എന്നു അറിയിച്ചു.

So there went one on horseback to meet him, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu said, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me. And the watchman told, saying, The messenger came to them, but he cometh not again.

הַסּ֜וּס sûs soos
to meet לִקְרָאת֗וֹ qirʾâ keer-AH
him, and said, וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ ʾāmar ah-MAHR
Thus כֹּֽה kō koh
saith אָמַ֤ר ʾāmar ah-MAHR
the king, הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ melek meh-LEK
peace? הֲשָׁל֔וֹם šālôm sha-LOME
said, וַיֹּ֧אמֶר ʾāmar ah-MAHR
And Jehu יֵה֛וּא yēhûʾ yay-HOO
What מַה mâ ma
לְּךָ֥
hast thou to do with peace? וּלְשָׁל֖וֹם šālôm sha-LOME
turn סֹ֣ב sābab sa-VAHV
אֶֽל ʾēl ale
thee behind אַחֲרָ֑י ʾaḥar ah-HAHR
told, וַיַּגֵּ֤ד nāgad na-ɡAHD
me. And the watchman הַצֹּפֶה֙ ṣāpâ tsa-FA
saying, לֵאמֹ֔ר ʾāmar ah-MAHR
came בָּֽא bôʾ boh
The messenger הַמַּלְאָ֥ךְ mălʾok mul-OKE
to עַד ʿad ad
them, הֵ֖ם hēm hame
וְלֹא lōʾ loh
but he cometh not again. שָֽׁב׃ šûb shoov
