മൂന്നാം ദിവസം എസ്ഥേർ രാജവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു രാജധാനിയുടെ അകത്തെ പ്രാകാരത്തിൽ ചെന്നു രാജഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ നേരെ നിന്നു; രാജാവു രാജധാനിയിൽ രാജഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ വാതിലിന്നു നേരെ തന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കയായിരുന്നു.

യെഹൂദനായ മൊർദ്ദെഖായി അഹശ്വേരോശ്‌രാജാവിന്റെ രണ്ടാമനും യെഹൂദന്മാരിൽവെച്ചു മഹാനും സഹോദരസംഘത്തിന്നു ഇഷ്ടനും സ്വജനത്തിന്നു ഗുണകാംക്ഷിയും തന്റെ സർവ്വവംശത്തിന്നും അനുകൂലവാദിയും ആയിരുന്നു.

രാജാവിന്റെ വാതിൽക്കലെ രാജഭൃത്യന്മാർ ഒക്കെയും ഹാമാനെ കുമ്പിട്ടു നമസ്ക്കരിച്ചു; രാജാവു അവനെ സംബന്ധിച്ചു അങ്ങനെ കല്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. എങ്കിലും മൊർദ്ദെഖായി അവനെ കുമ്പിട്ടില്ല, നമസ്ക്കരിച്ചതുമില്ല.
