Ecclesiastes 2
4 ഞാൻ മഹാപ്രവൃത്തികളെ ചെയ്തു; എനിക്കു അരമനകളെ പണിതു; മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടങ്ങളെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി.
5 ഞാൻ തോട്ടങ്ങളെയും ഉദ്യാനങ്ങളെയും ഉണ്ടാക്കി; അവയിൽ സകലവിധ ഫലവൃക്ഷങ്ങളെയും നട്ടു.
6 വൃക്ഷം വെച്ചുപിടിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്ന തോപ്പു നനെപ്പാൻ കുളങ്ങളും കുഴിപ്പിച്ചു.
7 ഞാൻ ദാസന്മാരെയും ദാസിമാരെയും വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങി; വീട്ടിൽ ജനിച്ച ദാസന്മാരും എനിക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്നു; യെരൂശലേമിൽ എനിക്കുമുമ്പു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ഏവരിലും അധികം ആടുമാടുകളായ ബഹുസമ്പത്തു എനിക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
8 ഞാൻ വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും രാജാക്കന്മാർക്കും സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങൾക്കും ഉള്ള ഭണ്ഡാരവും സ്വരൂപിച്ചു; സംഗീതക്കാരെയും സംഗീതക്കാരത്തികളെയും മനുഷ്യരുടെ പ്രമോദമായ അനവധി സ്ത്രീജനത്തെയും സമ്പാദിച്ചു.
9 ഇങ്ങനെ ഞാൻ, എനിക്കുമുമ്പു യെരൂശലേമിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എല്ലാവരിലും മഹാനായിത്തീർന്നു അഭിവൃദ്ധി പ്രാപിച്ചു; ജ്ഞാനവും എന്നിൽ ഉറെച്ചുനിന്നു.
10 എന്റെ കണ്ണു ആഗ്രഹിച്ചതൊന്നും ഞാൻ അതിന്നു നിഷേധിച്ചില്ല; എന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്നു ഒരു സന്തോഷവും വിലക്കിയില്ല; എന്റെ സകലപ്രയത്നവും നിമിത്തം എന്റെ ഹൃദയം സന്തോഷിച്ചു; എന്റെ സകലപ്രയത്നത്തിലും എനിക്കുണ്ടായ അനുഭവം ഇതു തന്നേ.
11 ഞാൻ എന്റെ കൈകളുടെ സകലപ്രവൃത്തികളെയും ഞാൻ ചെയ്വാൻ ശ്രമിച്ച സകലപരിശ്രമങ്ങളെയും നോക്കി; എല്ലാം മായയും വൃഥാപ്രയത്നവും അത്രേ; സൂര്യന്റെ കീഴിൽ യാതൊരു ലാഭവും ഇല്ല എന്നു കണ്ടു.
4 I made me great works; I builded me houses; I planted me vineyards:
5 I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all kind of fruits:
6 I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood that bringeth forth trees:
7 I got me servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me:
8 I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts.
9 So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me.
10 And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour.
11 Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.

4 ഞാൻ മഹാപ്രവൃത്തികളെ ചെയ്തു; എനിക്കു അരമനകളെ പണിതു; മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടങ്ങളെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി.
I made me great works; I builded me houses; I planted me vineyards:
5 ഞാൻ തോട്ടങ്ങളെയും ഉദ്യാനങ്ങളെയും ഉണ്ടാക്കി; അവയിൽ സകലവിധ ഫലവൃക്ഷങ്ങളെയും നട്ടു.

7 ഞാൻ ദാസന്മാരെയും ദാസിമാരെയും വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങി; വീട്ടിൽ ജനിച്ച ദാസന്മാരും എനിക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്നു; യെരൂശലേമിൽ എനിക്കുമുമ്പു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ഏവരിലും അധികം ആടുമാടുകളായ ബഹുസമ്പത്തു എനിക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
I got me servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me:
8 ഞാൻ വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും രാജാക്കന്മാർക്കും സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങൾക്കും ഉള്ള ഭണ്ഡാരവും സ്വരൂപിച്ചു; സംഗീതക്കാരെയും സംഗീതക്കാരത്തികളെയും മനുഷ്യരുടെ പ്രമോദമായ അനവധി സ്ത്രീജനത്തെയും സമ്പാദിച്ചു.
I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts.
9 ഇങ്ങനെ ഞാൻ, എനിക്കുമുമ്പു യെരൂശലേമിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എല്ലാവരിലും മഹാനായിത്തീർന്നു അഭിവൃദ്ധി പ്രാപിച്ചു; ജ്ഞാനവും എന്നിൽ ഉറെച്ചുനിന്നു.
So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me.
10 എന്റെ കണ്ണു ആഗ്രഹിച്ചതൊന്നും ഞാൻ അതിന്നു നിഷേധിച്ചില്ല; എന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്നു ഒരു സന്തോഷവും വിലക്കിയില്ല; എന്റെ സകലപ്രയത്നവും നിമിത്തം എന്റെ ഹൃദയം സന്തോഷിച്ചു; എന്റെ സകലപ്രയത്നത്തിലും എനിക്കുണ്ടായ അനുഭവം ഇതു തന്നേ.

Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.
