2 Samuel 16
5 ദാവീദ്രാജാവു ബഹൂരീമിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ ശൌലിന്റെ കുലത്തിൽ ഗേരയുടെ മകൻ ശീമെയി എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരുത്തൻ അവിടെനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു ശപിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു വരുന്നതു കണ്ടു.
6 അവൻ ദാവീദിനെയും രാജഭൃത്യന്മാരെ ഒക്കെയും കല്ലുവാരി എറിഞ്ഞു; ജനവും വീരന്മാരുമെല്ലാം ഇടത്തും വലത്തുമായി നടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
7 ശിമെയി ശപിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു ഇവ്വണം പറഞ്ഞു: രക്തപാതകാ, നീചാ, പോ, പോ.
8 ശൌൽ ഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ രക്തം യഹോവ നിന്റെമേൽ വരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്നു പകരമല്ലോ നീ രാജാവയതു; യഹോവ രാജത്വം നിന്റെ മകനായ അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ രക്തപാതകനായിരിക്കയാൽ ഇപ്പോൾ ഇതാ, നിന്റെ ദോഷത്തിന്റെ ഫലം നിനക്കു വന്നുഭവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
9 അപ്പോൾ സെരൂയയുടെ മകനായ അബീശായി രാജാവിനോടു: ഈ ചത്ത നായി എന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവിനെ ശപിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു? ഞാൻ ചെന്നു അവന്റെ തല വെട്ടിക്കളയട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
10 അതിന്നു രാജാവു: സെരൂയയുടെ പുത്രന്മാരേ, എനിക്കും നിങ്ങൾക്കും തമ്മിൽ എന്തു? അവൻ ശപിക്കട്ടെ; ദാവീദിനെ ശപിക്ക എന്നു യഹോവ അവനോടു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; പിന്നെ നീ ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ആർ ചോദിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
11 പിന്നെ ദാവീദ് അബീശായിയോടും തന്റെ സകല ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടും പറഞ്ഞതു: എന്റെ ഉദരത്തിൽ നിന്നു പറപ്പെട്ട മകൻ എനിക്കു പ്രാണഹാനി വരുത്തുവാൻ നോക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ ഈ ബെന്യാമീന്യൻ ചെയ്യുന്നതു ആശ്ചര്യമോ? അവനെ വിടുവിൻ; അവൻ ശപിക്കട്ടെ; യഹോവ അവനോടു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
12 പക്ഷേ യഹോവ എന്റെ സങ്കടം നോക്കി ഇന്നത്തെ ഇവന്റെ ശാപത്തിന്നു പകരം എനിക്കു അനുഗ്രഹം നല്കും.
13 ഇങ്ങനെ ദാവീദും അവന്റെ ആളുകളും വഴിനടന്നു പോകുമ്പോൾ ശിമെയിയും മലഞ്ചരിവിൽ കൂടി അടുത്തു നടന്നു; നടന്നുകൊണ്ടു ശപിക്കയും കല്ലും പൂഴിയും വാരി അവനെ എറികയും ചെയ്തു.
14 രാജാവും കൂടെയുള്ള സകല ജനവും ക്ഷീണിച്ചവരായി എത്തി അവിടെ ആശ്വസിച്ചു.
15 എന്നാൽ അബ്ശാലോമും യിസ്രായേല്യരായ ജനമൊക്കെയും അഹീഥോഫെലുമായി യെരൂശലേമിൽ എത്തി.
16 ദാവീദിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതൻ അർഖ്യനായ ഹൂശായി അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നിട്ടു അബ്ശാലോമിനോടു: രാജാവേ, ജയ ജയ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
17 അപ്പോൾ അബ്ശാലോം ഹൂശായിയോടു: ഇതാകുന്നുവോ നിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനോടു നിനക്കുള്ള സ്നേഹം? സ്നേഹിതനോടുകൂടെ പോകാതിരുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
18 അതിന്നു ഹൂശായി അബ്ശാലോമിനോടു: അങ്ങനെയല്ല, യഹോവയും ഈ ജനവും യിസ്രായേല്യരൊക്കെയും ആരെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്നുവോ അവന്നുള്ളവൻ ആകന്നു ഞാൻ; അവന്റെ പക്ഷത്തിൽ ഞാൻ ഇരിക്കും.
19 ഞാൻ ആരെ ആകുന്നു സേവിക്കേണ്ടതു? അവന്റെ മകനെ അല്ലയോ? ഞാൻ നിന്റെ അപ്പനെ സേവിച്ചതുപോലെ നിന്നെയും സേവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
5 And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera: he came forth, and cursed still as he came.
6 And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.
7 And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Come out, come out, thou bloody man, and thou man of Belial:
8 The Lord hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and the Lord hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and, behold, thou art taken in thy mischief, because thou art a bloody man.
9 Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah unto the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head.
10 And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? so let him curse, because the Lord hath said unto him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Wherefore hast thou done so?
11 And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this Benjamite do it? let him alone, and let him curse; for the Lord hath bidden him.
12 It may be that the Lord will look on mine affliction, and that the Lord will requite me good for his cursing this day.
13 And as David and his men went by the way, Shimei went along on the hill’s side over against him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.
14 And the king, and all the people that were with him, came weary, and refreshed themselves there.
15 And Absalom, and all the people the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.
16 And it came to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David’s friend, was come unto Absalom, that Hushai said unto Absalom, God save the king, God save the king.
17 And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not with thy friend?
18 And Hushai said unto Absalom, Nay; but whom the Lord, and this people, and all the men of Israel, choose, his will I be, and with him will I abide.
19 And again, whom should I serve? should I not serve in the presence of his son? as I have served in thy father’s presence, so will I be in thy presence.

6 അവൻ ദാവീദിനെയും രാജഭൃത്യന്മാരെ ഒക്കെയും കല്ലുവാരി എറിഞ്ഞു; ജനവും വീരന്മാരുമെല്ലാം ഇടത്തും വലത്തുമായി നടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.
7 ശിമെയി ശപിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു ഇവ്വണം പറഞ്ഞു: രക്തപാതകാ, നീചാ, പോ, പോ.
And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Come out, come out, thou bloody man, and thou man of Belial:
8 ശൌൽ ഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ രക്തം യഹോവ നിന്റെമേൽ വരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്നു പകരമല്ലോ നീ രാജാവയതു; യഹോവ രാജത്വം നിന്റെ മകനായ അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ രക്തപാതകനായിരിക്കയാൽ ഇപ്പോൾ ഇതാ, നിന്റെ ദോഷത്തിന്റെ ഫലം നിനക്കു വന്നുഭവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
The Lord hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and the Lord hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and, behold, thou art taken in thy mischief, because thou art a bloody man.
9 അപ്പോൾ സെരൂയയുടെ മകനായ അബീശായി രാജാവിനോടു: ഈ ചത്ത നായി എന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവിനെ ശപിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു? ഞാൻ ചെന്നു അവന്റെ തല വെട്ടിക്കളയട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah unto the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head.
10 അതിന്നു രാജാവു: സെരൂയയുടെ പുത്രന്മാരേ, എനിക്കും നിങ്ങൾക്കും തമ്മിൽ എന്തു? അവൻ ശപിക്കട്ടെ; ദാവീദിനെ ശപിക്ക എന്നു യഹോവ അവനോടു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; പിന്നെ നീ ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ആർ ചോദിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? so let him curse, because the Lord hath said unto him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Wherefore hast thou done so?
11 പിന്നെ ദാവീദ് അബീശായിയോടും തന്റെ സകല ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടും പറഞ്ഞതു: എന്റെ ഉദരത്തിൽ നിന്നു പറപ്പെട്ട മകൻ എനിക്കു പ്രാണഹാനി വരുത്തുവാൻ നോക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ ഈ ബെന്യാമീന്യൻ ചെയ്യുന്നതു ആശ്ചര്യമോ? അവനെ വിടുവിൻ; അവൻ ശപിക്കട്ടെ; യഹോവ അവനോടു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this Benjamite do it? let him alone, and let him curse; for the Lord hath bidden him.
12 പക്ഷേ യഹോവ എന്റെ സങ്കടം നോക്കി ഇന്നത്തെ ഇവന്റെ ശാപത്തിന്നു പകരം എനിക്കു അനുഗ്രഹം നല്കും.
It may be that the Lord will look on mine affliction, and that the Lord will requite me good for his cursing this day.
13 ഇങ്ങനെ ദാവീദും അവന്റെ ആളുകളും വഴിനടന്നു പോകുമ്പോൾ ശിമെയിയും മലഞ്ചരിവിൽ കൂടി അടുത്തു നടന്നു; നടന്നുകൊണ്ടു ശപിക്കയും കല്ലും പൂഴിയും വാരി അവനെ എറികയും ചെയ്തു.
And as David and his men went by the way, Shimei went along on the hill’s side over against him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.
14 രാജാവും കൂടെയുള്ള സകല ജനവും ക്ഷീണിച്ചവരായി എത്തി അവിടെ ആശ്വസിച്ചു.
And the king, and all the people that were with him, came weary, and refreshed themselves there.
15 എന്നാൽ അബ്ശാലോമും യിസ്രായേല്യരായ ജനമൊക്കെയും അഹീഥോഫെലുമായി യെരൂശലേമിൽ എത്തി.
And Absalom, and all the people the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.
16 ദാവീദിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതൻ അർഖ്യനായ ഹൂശായി അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നിട്ടു അബ്ശാലോമിനോടു: രാജാവേ, ജയ ജയ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And it came to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David’s friend, was come unto Absalom, that Hushai said unto Absalom, God save the king, God save the king.
17 അപ്പോൾ അബ്ശാലോം ഹൂശായിയോടു: ഇതാകുന്നുവോ നിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനോടു നിനക്കുള്ള സ്നേഹം? സ്നേഹിതനോടുകൂടെ പോകാതിരുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not with thy friend?
18 അതിന്നു ഹൂശായി അബ്ശാലോമിനോടു: അങ്ങനെയല്ല, യഹോവയും ഈ ജനവും യിസ്രായേല്യരൊക്കെയും ആരെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്നുവോ അവന്നുള്ളവൻ ആകന്നു ഞാൻ; അവന്റെ പക്ഷത്തിൽ ഞാൻ ഇരിക്കും.
And Hushai said unto Absalom, Nay; but whom the Lord, and this people, and all the men of Israel, choose, his will I be, and with him will I abide.
19 ഞാൻ ആരെ ആകുന്നു സേവിക്കേണ്ടതു? അവന്റെ മകനെ അല്ലയോ? ഞാൻ നിന്റെ അപ്പനെ സേവിച്ചതുപോലെ നിന്നെയും സേവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And again, whom should I serve? should I not serve in the presence of his son? as I have served in thy father’s presence, so will I be in thy presence.
