2 Samuel 12
1 അനന്തരം യഹോവ നാഥാനെ ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചു. അവൻ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: ഒരു പട്ടണത്തിൽ രണ്ടു പുരുഷന്മാർ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഒരുത്തൻ ധനവാൻ, മറ്റവൻ ദരിദ്രൻ.
2 ധനവാന്നു ആടുമാടുകൾ അനവധി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
3 ദരിദ്രന്നോ താൻ വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങി വളർത്തിയ ഒരു പെൺകുഞ്ഞാടല്ലാതെ ഒന്നും ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു; അതു അവന്റെ അടുക്കലും അവന്റെ മക്കളുടെ അടുക്കലും വളർന്നുവന്നു; അതു അവൻ തിന്നുന്നതിൽ ഓഹരി തിന്നുകയും അവൻ കുടിക്കുന്നതിൽ ഓഹരി കുടിക്കയും അവന്റെ മടിയിൽ കിടക്കയും ചെയ്തു; അവന്നു ഒരു മകളെപ്പോലെയും ആയിരുന്നു.
4 ധനവാന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഒരു വഴിയാത്രക്കാരൻ വന്നു; തന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്ന വഴിപോക്കന്നുവേണ്ടി പാകംചെയ്വാൻ സ്വന്ത ആടുമാടുകളിൽ ഒന്നിനെ എടുപ്പാൻ മനസ്സാകാതെ, അവൻ ആ ദരിദ്രന്റെ കുഞ്ഞാടിനെ പിടിച്ചു തന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്ന ആൾക്കുവേണ്ടി പാകം ചെയ്തു.
5 അപ്പോൾ ദാവീദിന്റെ കോപം ആ മനുഷ്യന്റെ നേരെ ഏറ്റവും ജ്വലിച്ചു; അവൻ നാഥാനോടു: യഹോവയാണ, ഇതു ചെയ്തവൻ മരണയോഗ്യൻ.
6 അവൻ കനിവില്ലാതെ ഈ കാര്യം പ്രവർത്തിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു ആ ആടിന്നുവേണ്ടി നാലിരട്ടി പകരം കൊടുക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
1 And the Lord sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor.
2 The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds:
3 But the poor man had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own meat, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter.
4 And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man’s lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.
5 And David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the Lord liveth, the man that hath done this thing shall surely die:
6 And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.

And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man’s lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.
5 അപ്പോൾ ദാവീദിന്റെ കോപം ആ മനുഷ്യന്റെ നേരെ ഏറ്റവും ജ്വലിച്ചു; അവൻ നാഥാനോടു: യഹോവയാണ, ഇതു ചെയ്തവൻ മരണയോഗ്യൻ.
And David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the Lord liveth, the man that hath done this thing shall surely die:
6 അവൻ കനിവില്ലാതെ ഈ കാര്യം പ്രവർത്തിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു ആ ആടിന്നുവേണ്ടി നാലിരട്ടി പകരം കൊടുക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.
