Ecclesiastes 2
1 1 ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ--ಹೋಗು, ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಸಂತೋಷದ ಮೂಲಕ ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸುವೆನು; ಆದಕಾರಣ ಸುಖವನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸು ಎಂದು ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡೆನು. ಇಗೋ, ಇದು ಕೂಡ ವ್ಯರ್ಥವೇ.
2 ನಗೆಯ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ--ಇದು ಹುಚ್ಚು ಎಂದೂ ಸಂತೋಷದ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ--ಇದೇನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದೂ ನಾನು ಹೇಳಿದೆನು.
3 ಜ್ಞಾನದಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ಇನ್ನು ಸಂತೋಷಪಡಿಸುವದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸಕ್ಕೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನಾನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿ ಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆಯೂ ಆಕಾಶದ ಕೆಳಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಜೀವ ಮಾನದಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಪುತ್ರರಿಗೆ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದೇನೆಂದು ನೋಡುವ ತನಕ ಬುದ್ಧಿ ಹೀನತೆಯನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯುವದಕ್ಕೂ ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಹೃದಯ ದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಚಾರ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡೆನು.
1 I said in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove thee with mirth, therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also is vanity.
2 I said of laughter, It is mad: and of mirth, What doeth it?
3 I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting mine heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their life.
