18 ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನು ದಾವೀದನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೆರೀ ಮೋತನಿಗೆ ಇಷಯನ ಮೊಮ್ಮಗಳೂ ಎಲೀಯಾಬನ ಮಗಳು ಆದ ಅಬೀಹೈಲಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ ಮಹ್ಲತ್ ಎಂಬಾಕೆಯನ್ನು ಹೆಂಡತಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡನು.
19 ಅಬೀಹೈಲಳು ಯೆಗೂಷ್, ಶೆಮರ್ಯ, ಜಾಹಮ್ ಎಂಬ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೆತ್ತಳು.
20 ಇವಳ ತರು ವಾಯ ಅವನು ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನ ಮಗಳಾದ ಮಾಕ ಳನ್ನು ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾಗಿ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡನು. ಇವಳು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಅಬೀಯನ್ನೂ ಅತ್ತೈಯನ್ನೂ ಜೀಜನನ್ನೂ ಶೆಲೋ ವಿಾತನ್ನೂ ಹೆತ್ತಳು.
21 ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನಿಗೆ ಹದಿನೆಂಟು ಮಂದಿ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯರೂ ಅರವತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಉಪ ಪತ್ನಿಯರೂ ಇದ್ದರು; ಅವನು ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತೆಂಟು ಮಂದಿ ಕುಮಾರರನ್ನೂ ಅರವತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಕುಮಾರ್ತೆಯರನ್ನೂ ಪಡೆದನು. ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಯರಿಗಿಂತಲೂ ಉಪಪತ್ನಿಯರಿಗಿಂತಲೂ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋ ಮನ ಮಗಳಾದ ಮಾಕಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಮಾಡಿದನು.
22 ರೆಹಬ್ಬಾಮನು ಮಾಕಳ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಬೀಯನನ್ನು ಅವನ ಸಹೋದರರಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಯಕನಾಗಿರುವಂತೆ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಸ್ಥನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಅವನನ್ನು ಅರಸನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಲು ಮನಸ್ಸುಳ್ಳವನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
18 And Rehoboam took him Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David to wife, and Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse;
19 Which bare him children; Jeush, and Shamariah, and Zaham.
20 And after her he took Maachah the daughter of Absalom; which bare him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
21 And Rehoboam loved Maachah the daughter of Absalom above all his wives and his concubines: (for he took eighteen wives, and threescore concubines; and begat twenty and eight sons, and threescore daughters.)
22 And Rehoboam made Abijah the son of Maachah the chief, to be ruler among his brethren: for he thought to make him king.
