18 রহবিয়াম দাযূদের পুত্র য়িরীমোতের কন্যা মহলত্কে বিয়ে করেছিলেন| মহলতের মাতা অবীহযিল ছিলেন য়িশযের পৌত্রী, ইলীয়াবের কন্যা|
19 রহবিয়াম আর মহলতের পুত্রদের নাম ছিল: য়িযূশ, শমরিয় এবং সহম|
20 এরপর, রহবিয়াম অবশালোমের কন্যা মাখাকে বিয়ে করেন| তাঁদের দুজনের পুত্রের নাম হল: অবিয, অত্তয, সীষ এবং শলোমীত্|
21 রহবিয়ামের 18 জন স্ত্রী ও 60 জন উপপত্নী থাকলেও তিনি তাঁর স্ত্রী মাখাকেই সবচেয়ে বেশী ভালবাসতেন| সব মিলিযে রহবিয়ামের 28 জন পুত্র ও 60 জন কন্যা হয়েছিল|
22 তাঁর পুত্রদের মধ্যে রহবিয়াম অবিযকে য়ুবরাজ, তার ভাইদের মধ্যে নেতা বলে ঘোষণা করেন কারণ তিনি তাকেই পরবর্তী রাজা করতে চেয়েছিলেন|
18 And Rehoboam took him Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David to wife, and Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse;
19 Which bare him children; Jeush, and Shamariah, and Zaham.
20 And after her he took Maachah the daughter of Absalom; which bare him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
21 And Rehoboam loved Maachah the daughter of Absalom above all his wives and his concubines: (for he took eighteen wives, and threescore concubines; and begat twenty and eight sons, and threescore daughters.)
22 And Rehoboam made Abijah the son of Maachah the chief, to be ruler among his brethren: for he thought to make him king.
