Jonah 4 interlinear in Tamil

  1. וַיֵּ֥רַע But it displeased rāʿaʿ אֶל ʾēl יוֹנָ֖ה Jonah yônâ רָעָ֣ה raʿ גְדוֹלָ֑ה exceedingly, gādôl וַיִּ֖חַר and he was very angry. ḥārâ לֽוֹ׃
  2. וַיִּתְפַּלֵּ֨ל And he prayed pālal אֶל unto ʾēl יְהוָ֜ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ וַיֹּאמַ֗ר and said, ʾāmar אָנָּ֤ה I pray thee, ʾonnāʾ יְהוָה֙ O Lord, yĕhōwâ הֲלוֹא not lōʾ זֶ֣ה this ze דְבָרִ֗י my saying, dābār עַד yet ʿad הֱיוֹתִי֙ when I was hāyâ עַל in ʿal אַדְמָתִ֔י my country? ʾădāmâ עַל Therefore ʿal כֵּ֥ן kēn קִדַּ֖מְתִּי before qādam לִבְרֹ֣חַ I fled bāraḥ תַּרְשִׁ֑ישָׁה unto Tarshish: taršîš כִּ֣י for יָדַ֗עְתִּי I knew yādaʿ כִּ֤י that אַתָּה֙ thou ʾattâ אֵֽל God, ʾēl חַנּ֣וּן a gracious ḥannûn וְרַח֔וּם and merciful, raḥûm אֶ֤רֶךְ slow ʾārēk אַפַּ֙יִם֙ to anger, ʾap וְרַב and of great rab חֶ֔סֶד kindness, ḥēsēd וְנִחָ֖ם and repentest nāḥam עַל thee of ʿal הָרָעָֽה׃ the evil. raʿ
  3. וְעַתָּ֣ה Therefore now, ʿattâ יְהוָ֔ה O Lord, yĕhōwâ קַח take, lāqaḥ נָ֥א I beseech thee, nāʾ אֶת ʾēt נַפְשִׁ֖י my life nepeš מִמֶּ֑נִּי from min כִּ֛י me; for ט֥וֹב better ṭôb מוֹתִ֖י for me to die māwet מֵחַיָּֽי׃ than to live. ḥay
  4. וַיֹּ֣אמֶר Then said ʾāmar יְהוָ֔ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ הַהֵיטֵ֖ב Doest thou well yāṭab חָ֥רָה to be angry? ḥārâ לָֽךְ׃
  5. וַיֵּצֵ֤א went out yāṣāʾ יוֹנָה֙ So Jonah yônâ מִן of min הָעִ֔יר the city, ʿîr וַיֵּ֖שֶׁב and sat yāšab מִקֶּ֣דֶם on the east side qedem לָעִ֑יר of the city, ʿîr וַיַּעַשׂ֩ made ʿāśâ ל֨וֹ שָׁ֜ם and there šām סֻכָּ֗ה him a booth, sukkâ וַיֵּ֤שֶׁב and sat yāšab תַּחְתֶּ֙יהָ֙ under taḥat בַּצֵּ֔ל it in the shadow, ṣēl עַ֚ד till ʿad אֲשֶׁ֣ר ʾăšer יִרְאֶ֔ה he might see rāʾâ מַה what יִּהְיֶ֖ה would become hāyâ בָּעִֽיר׃ of the city. ʿîr
  6. וַיְמַ֣ן prepared mānâ יְהוָֽה And the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱ֠לֹהִים God ʾĕlōhîm קִיקָי֞וֹן a gourd, qîqāyôn וַיַּ֣עַל׀ and made to come up ʿālâ מֵעַ֣ל over ʿal לְיוֹנָ֗ה Jonah, yônâ לִֽהְי֥וֹת that it might be hāyâ צֵל֙ a shadow ṣēl עַל over ʿal רֹאשׁ֔וֹ his head, rōš לְהַצִּ֥יל to deliver nāṣal ל֖וֹ מֵרָֽעָת֑וֹ him from his grief. raʿ וַיִּשְׂמַ֥ח was śāmaḥ יוֹנָ֛ה So Jonah yônâ עַל of ʿal הַקִּֽיקָי֖וֹן the gourd. qîqāyôn שִׂמְחָ֥ה glad śimḥâ גְדוֹלָֽה׃ exceeding gādôl
  7. וַיְמַ֤ן prepared mānâ הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ But God ʾĕlōhîm תּוֹלַ֔עַת a worm tôlāʿ בַּעֲל֥וֹת rose ʿālâ הַשַּׁ֖חַר when the morning šaḥar לַֽמָּחֳרָ֑ת the next day, moḥŏrāt וַתַּ֥ךְ and it smote nākâ אֶת ʾēt הַקִּֽיקָי֖וֹן the gourd qîqāyôn וַיִּיבָֽשׁ׃ that it withered. yābēš
  8. וַיְהִ֣י׀ And it came to pass, hāyâ כִּזְרֹ֣חַ did arise, zāraḥ הַשֶּׁ֗מֶשׁ when the sun šemeš וַיְמַ֨ן prepared mānâ אֱלֹהִ֜ים that God ʾĕlōhîm ר֤וּחַ wind; rûaḥ קָדִים֙ east qādîm חֲרִישִׁ֔ית a vehement ḥărîšî וַתַּ֥ךְ beat nākâ הַשֶּׁ֛מֶשׁ and the sun šemeš עַל upon ʿal רֹ֥אשׁ the head rōš יוֹנָ֖ה of Jonah, yônâ וַיִּתְעַלָּ֑ף that he fainted, ʿālap וַיִּשְׁאַ֤ל and wished šāʾal אֶת in ʾēt נַפְשׁוֹ֙ himself nepeš לָמ֔וּת to die, mût וַיֹּ֕אמֶר and said, ʾāmar ט֥וֹב better ṭôb מוֹתִ֖י for me to die māwet מֵחַיָּֽי׃ than to live. ḥay
  9. וַיֹּ֤אמֶר said ʾāmar אֱלֹהִים֙ And God ʾĕlōhîm אֶל to ʾēl יוֹנָ֔ה Jonah, yônâ הַהֵיטֵ֥ב Doest thou well yāṭab חָרָֽה to be angry ḥārâ לְךָ֖ עַל for ʿal הַקִּֽיקָי֑וֹן the gourd? qîqāyôn וַיֹּ֕אמֶר And he said, ʾāmar הֵיטֵ֥ב I do well yāṭab חָֽרָה to be angry, ḥārâ לִ֖י עַד unto ʿad מָֽוֶת׃ death. māwet
  10. וַיֹּ֣אמֶר Then said ʾāmar יְהוָ֔ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ אַתָּ֥ה Thou ʾattâ חַ֙סְתָּ֙ hast had pity ḥûs עַל on ʿal הַקִּ֣יקָי֔וֹן the gourd, qîqāyôn אֲשֶׁ֛ר for the which ʾăšer לֹא thou hast not lōʾ עָמַ֥לְתָּ laboured, ʿāmal בּ֖וֹ וְלֹ֣א neither lōʾ גִדַּלְתּ֑וֹ madest it grow; gādal שֶׁבִּן bēn לַ֥יְלָה in a night, layil הָיָ֖ה which came up hāyâ וּבִן bēn לַ֥יְלָה in a night: layil אָבָֽד׃ and perished ʾābad
  11. וַֽאֲנִי֙ I ʾănî לֹ֣א And should not lōʾ אָח֔וּס spare ḥûs עַל ʿal נִינְוֵ֖ה Nineveh, nînĕwē הָעִ֣יר city, ʿîr הַגְּדוֹלָ֑ה that great gādôl אֲשֶׁ֣ר wherein ʾăšer יֶשׁ are yēš בָּ֡הּ הַרְבֵּה֩ more than rābâ מִֽשְׁתֵּים sixscore šĕnayim עֶשְׂרֵ֨ה ʿāśār רִבּ֜וֹ thousand ribbô אָדָ֗ם persons ʾādām אֲשֶׁ֤ר that ʾăšer לֹֽא cannot lōʾ יָדַע֙ discern yādaʿ בֵּין between bên יְמִינ֣וֹ their right hand yāmîn לִשְׂמֹאל֔וֹ and their left hand; śĕmōwl וּבְהֵמָ֖ה cattle? bĕhēmâ רַבָּֽה׃ and much rab
