  1. אַף also ʾap לְ֭זֹאת At this zōt יֶחֱרַ֣ד trembleth, ḥārad לִבִּ֑י my heart lēb וְ֝יִתַּ֗ר and is moved out nātar מִמְּקוֹמֽוֹ׃ of his place. māqôm
  2. שִׁמְע֤וּ Hear šāmaʿ שָׁמ֣וֹעַ attentively šāmaʿ בְּרֹ֣גֶז the noise rōgez קֹל֑וֹ of his voice, qôl וְ֝הֶ֗גֶה and the sound hege מִפִּ֥יו of his mouth. pe יֵצֵֽא׃ goeth out yāṣāʾ
  3. תַּֽחַת under taḥat כָּל the whole kōl הַשָּׁמַ֥יִם heaven, šāmayim יִשְׁרֵ֑הוּ He directeth it yāšar וְ֝אוֹר֗וֹ and his lightning ʾôr עַל unto ʿal כַּנְפ֥וֹת the ends kānāp הָאָֽרֶץ׃ of the earth. ʾereṣ
  4. אַחֲרָ֤יו׀ After ʾaḥar יִשְׁאַג roareth: šāʾag ק֗וֹל it a voice qôl יַ֭רְעֵם he thundereth rāʿam בְּק֣וֹל with the voice qôl גְּאוֹנ֑וֹ of his excellency; gāʾôn וְלֹ֥א and he will not lōʾ יְ֝עַקְּבֵ֗ם stay ʿāqab כִּֽי them when יִשָּׁמַ֥ע is heard. šāmaʿ קוֹלֽוֹ׃ his voice qôl
  5. יַרְעֵ֤ם thundereth rāʿam אֵ֣ל God ʾēl בְּ֭קוֹלוֹ with his voice; qôl נִפְלָא֑וֹת marvellously pālāʾ עֹשֶׂ֥ה doeth ʿāśâ גְ֝דֹל֗וֹת great things gādôl וְלֹ֣א he, which we cannot lōʾ נֵדָֽע׃ comprehend. yādaʿ
  6. כִּ֤י For לַשֶּׁ֨לַג׀ to the snow, šeleg יֹאמַ֗ר he saith ʾāmar הֱוֵ֫א Be thou hāwāʾ אָ֥רֶץ the earth; ʾereṣ וְגֶ֥שֶׁם rain, gešem מָטָ֑ר likewise to the small māṭar וְ֝גֶ֗שֶׁם rain gešem מִטְר֥וֹת and to the great māṭar עֻזּֽוֹ׃ of his strength. ʿōz
  7. בְּיַד the hand yād כָּל of every kōl אָדָ֥ם man; ʾādām יַחְתּ֑וֹם He sealeth up ḥātam לָ֝דַ֗עַת may know yādaʿ כָּל that all kōl אַנְשֵׁ֥י men ʾîš מַעֲשֵֽׂהוּ׃ his work. maʿăśe
  8. וַתָּב֣וֹא go bôʾ חַיָּ֣ה Then the beasts ḥay בְמוֹ into bĕmô אָ֑רֶב dens, ʾereb וּבִמְע֖וֹנֹתֶ֣יהָ in their places. mĕʿônâ תִשְׁכֹּֽן׃ and remain šākan
  9. מִן Out of min הַ֭חֶדֶר the south ḥeder תָּב֣וֹא cometh bôʾ סוּפָ֑ה the whirlwind: sûpâ וּֽמִמְּזָרִ֥ים out of the north. mĕzāre קָרָֽה׃ and cold qārâ
  10. מִנִּשְׁמַת By the breath nĕšāmâ אֵ֥ל of God ʾēl יִתֶּן is given: nātan קָ֑רַח frost qeraḥ וְרֹ֖חַב and the breadth rōḥab מַ֣יִם of the waters mayim בְּמוּצָֽק׃ is straitened. mûṣaq
  11. אַף Also ʾap בְּ֭רִי by watering יַטְרִ֣יחַ he wearieth ṭāraḥ עָ֑ב the thick cloud: ʿāb יָ֝פִ֗יץ he scattereth pûṣ עֲנַ֣ן cloud: ʿānān אוֹרֽוֹ׃ his bright ʾôr
  12. וְה֤וּא And it hûʾ מְסִבּ֨וֹת׀ round about mēsab מִתְהַפֵּ֣ךְ is turned hāpak בְּתַחְבּֽוּלֹתָ֣ו by his counsels: taḥbulâ לְפָעֳלָ֑ם that they may do pōʿal כֹּ֖ל whatsoever kōl אֲשֶׁ֥ר ʾăšer יְצַוֵּ֓ם׀ he commandeth ṣāwâ עַל them upon ʿal פְּנֵ֖י the face pānîm תֵבֵ֣ל of the world tēbēl אָֽרְצָה׃ in the earth. ʾereṣ
  13. אִם whether ʾim לְשֵׁ֥בֶט for correction, šēbeṭ אִם or ʾim לְאַרְצ֑וֹ for his land, ʾereṣ אִם or ʾim לְ֝חֶ֗סֶד for mercy. ḥēsēd יַמְצִאֵֽהוּ׃ He causeth it to come, māṣāʾ
  14. הַאֲזִ֣ינָה Hearken ʾāzan זֹּ֣את unto this, zōt אִיּ֑וֹב O Job: ʾiyyôb עֲ֝מֹ֗ד stand still, ʿāmad וְהִתְבּוֹנֵ֤ן׀ and consider bîn נִפְלְא֬וֹת the wondrous pālāʾ אֵֽל׃ works of God. ʾēl
  15. הֲ֭תֵדַע Dost thou know yādaʿ בְּשׂוּם disposed śûm אֱל֣וֹהַּ when God ʾĕlôah עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם ʿal וְ֝הוֹפִ֗יעַ to shine? yāpaʿ א֣וֹר them, and caused the light ʾôr עֲנָנֽוֹ׃ of his cloud ʿānān
  16. הֲ֭תֵדַע Dost thou know yādaʿ עַל ʿal מִפְלְשֵׂי the balancings miploś עָ֑ב of the clouds, ʿāb מִ֝פְלְא֗וֹת the wondrous works miplāʾâ תְּמִ֣ים of him which is perfect tāmîm דֵּעִֽים׃ in knowledge? dēaʿ
  17. אֲשֶׁר How ʾăšer בְּגָדֶ֥יךָ thy garments beged חַמִּ֑ים warm, ḥām בְּהַשְׁקִ֥ט when he quieteth šāqaṭ אֶ֝֗רֶץ the earth ʾereṣ מִדָּרֽוֹם׃ by the south dārôm
  18. תַּרְקִ֣יעַ him spread out rāqaʿ עִ֭מּוֹ Hast thou with ʿim לִשְׁחָקִ֑ים the sky, šaḥaq חֲ֝זָקִ֗ים strong, ḥāzāq כִּרְאִ֥י looking glass? rĕʾî מוּצָֽק׃ as a molten yāṣaq
  19. ה֭וֹדִיעֵנוּ Teach yādaʿ מַה us what נֹּ֣אמַר we shall say ʾāmar ל֑וֹ לֹ֥א unto him; we cannot lōʾ נַ֝עֲרֹ֗ךְ order ʿārak מִפְּנֵי by reason pānîm חֹֽשֶׁךְ׃ of darkness. ḥōšek
  20. הַֽיְסֻפַּר Shall it be told sāpar ל֭וֹ כִּ֣י him that אֲדַבֵּ֑ר I speak? dābar אִֽם if ʾim אָ֥מַר speak, ʾāmar אִ֝֗ישׁ a man ʾîš כִּ֣י surely יְבֻלָּֽע׃ he shall be swallowed up. bālaʿ
  21. וְעַתָּ֤ה׀ And now ʿattâ לֹ֘א not lōʾ רָ֤אוּ see rāʾâ א֗וֹר light ʾôr בָּהִ֣יר the bright bāhîr ה֭וּא which hûʾ בַּשְּׁחָקִ֑ים in the clouds: šaḥaq וְר֥וּחַ but the wind rûaḥ עָ֝בְרָ֗ה passeth, ʿābar וַֽתְּטַהֲרֵֽם׃ and cleanseth them. ṭāhēr
  22. מִ֭צָּפוֹן out of the north: ṣāpôn זָהָ֣ב Fair weather zāhāb יֶֽאֱתֶ֑ה cometh ʾātâ עַל with ʿal אֱ֝ל֗וֹהַּ God ʾĕlôah נ֣וֹרָא terrible yārēʾ הֽוֹד׃ majesty. hôd
  23. שַׁדַּ֣י the Almighty, šadday לֹֽא we cannot lōʾ מְ֭צָאנֻהוּ find him out: māṣāʾ שַׂגִּיא excellent śaggîʾ כֹ֑חַ in power, kōaḥ וּמִשְׁפָּ֥ט and in judgment, mišpāṭ וְרֹב and in plenty rōb צְ֝דָקָ֗ה of justice: ṣĕdāqâ לֹ֣א he will not lōʾ יְעַנֶּֽה׃ afflict. ʿānâ
  24. לָ֭כֵן do therefore kēn יְרֵא֣וּהוּ fear yārēʾ אֲנָשִׁ֑ים Men ʾĕnôš לֹֽא not lōʾ יִ֝רְאֶ֗ה him: he respecteth rāʾâ כָּל any kōl חַכְמֵי wise ḥākām לֵֽב׃ of heart. lēb
