וַֽיְהִי֙ And it came to pass hāyâ בַּשָּׁנָ֣ה year šāne הָרְבִעִ֔ית in the fourth rĕbîʿî לִיהוֹיָקִ֥ים of Jehoiakim yĕhôyāqîm בֶּן the son bēn יֹאשִׁיָּ֖הוּ of Josiah yōʾšiyyâ מֶ֣לֶךְ king melek יְהוּדָ֑ה of Judah, yĕhûdâ הָיָ֞ה came hāyâ הַדָּבָ֤ר word dābār הַזֶּה֙ this ze אֶֽל unto ʾēl יִרְמְיָ֔הוּ Jeremiah yirmĕyâ מֵאֵ֥ת from ʾēt יְהוָ֖ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ לֵאמֹֽר׃ saying, ʾāmar

קַח Take lāqaḥ לְךָ֮ מְגִלַּת thee a roll mĕgillâ סֵפֶר֒ of a book, sēper וְכָתַבְתָּ֣ and write kātab אֵלֶ֗יהָ therein ʾēl אֵ֣ת ʾēt כָּל all kōl הַדְּבָרִ֞ים the words dābār אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer דִּבַּ֧רְתִּי I have spoken dābar אֵלֶ֛יךָ unto ʾēl עַל thee against ʿal יִשְׂרָאֵ֥ל Israel, yiśrāʾēl וְעַל and against ʿal יְהוּדָ֖ה Judah, yĕhûdâ וְעַל and against ʿal כָּל all kōl הַגּוֹיִ֑ם the nations, gôy מִיּ֞וֹם from the day yôm דִּבַּ֤רְתִּי I spake dābar אֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ unto ʾēl מִימֵ֣י thee, from the days yôm יֹאשִׁיָּ֔הוּ of Josiah, yōʾšiyyâ וְעַ֖ד even unto ʿad הַיּ֥וֹם day. yôm הַזֶּֽה׃ this ze

אוּלַ֤י It may be that ʾûlay יִשְׁמְעוּ֙ will hear šāmaʿ בֵּ֣ית the house bayit יְהוּדָ֔ה of Judah yĕhûdâ אֵ֚ת ʾēt כָּל all kōl הָ֣רָעָ֔ה the evil raʿ אֲשֶׁ֛ר which ʾăšer אָנֹכִ֥י I ʾānōkî חֹשֵׁ֖ב purpose ḥāšab לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת to do ʿāśâ לָהֶ֑ם לְמַ֣עַן unto them; that maʿan יָשׁ֗וּבוּ they may return šûb אִ֚ישׁ every man ʾîš מִדַּרְכּ֣וֹ way; derek הָרָעָ֔ה from his evil raʿ וְסָלַחְתִּ֥י that I may forgive sālaḥ לַעֲוֺנָ֖ם their iniquity ʿāwōn וּלְחַטָּאתָֽם׃ and their sin. ḥaṭṭāʾâ

וַיִּקְרָ֣א called qārāʾ יִרְמְיָ֔הוּ Then Jeremiah yirmĕyâ אֶת ʾēt בָּר֖וּךְ Baruch bārûk בֶּן the son bēn נֵֽרִיָּ֑ה of Neriah: nēriyyâ וַיִּכְתֹּ֨ב wrote kātab בָּר֜וּךְ and Baruch bārûk מִפִּ֣י from the mouth pe יִרְמְיָ֗הוּ of Jeremiah yirmĕyâ אֵ֣ת ʾēt כָּל all kōl דִּבְרֵ֧י the words dābār יְהוָ֛ה of the Lord, yĕhōwâ אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer דִּבֶּ֥ר he had spoken dābar אֵלָ֖יו unto ʾēl עַל him, upon ʿal מְגִלַּת a roll mĕgillâ סֵֽפֶר׃ of a book. sēper

וַיְצַוֶּ֣ה commanded ṣāwâ יִרְמְיָ֔הוּ And Jeremiah yirmĕyâ אֶת ʾēt בָּר֖וּךְ Baruch, bārûk לֵאמֹ֑ר saying, ʾāmar אֲנִ֣י I ʾănî עָצ֔וּר shut up; ʿāṣār לֹ֣א lōʾ אוּכַ֔ל I cannot yākōl לָב֖וֹא go bôʾ בֵּ֥ית into the house bayit יְהוָֽה׃ of the Lord: yĕhōwâ

וּבָאתָ֣ Therefore go bôʾ אַתָּ֡ה thou, ʾattâ וְקָרָ֣אתָ and read qārāʾ בַמְּגִלָּ֣ה in the roll, mĕgillâ אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer כָּתַֽבְתָּ thou hast written kātab מִפִּי֩ from my mouth, pe אֶת ʾēt דִּבְרֵ֨י the words dābār יְהוָ֜ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ בְּאָזְנֵ֥י in the ears ʾōzen הָעָ֛ם of the people ʿam בֵּ֥ית house bayit יְהוָ֖ה in the Lord's yĕhōwâ בְּי֣וֹם day: yôm צ֑וֹם upon the fasting ṣôm וְגַ֨ם and also gam בְּאָזְנֵ֧י them in the ears ʾōzen כָל of all kōl יְהוּדָ֛ה Judah yĕhûdâ הַבָּאִ֥ים that come out bôʾ מֵעָרֵיהֶ֖ם of their cities. ʿîr תִּקְרָאֵֽם׃ thou shalt read qārāʾ

אוּלַ֞י It may be ʾûlay תִּפֹּ֤ל they will present nāpal תְּחִנָּתָם֙ their supplication tĕḥinnâ לִפְנֵ֣י before pānîm יְהוָ֔ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ וְיָשֻׁ֕בוּ and will return šûb אִ֖ישׁ every one ʾîš מִדַּרְכּ֣וֹ way: derek הָרָעָ֑ה from his evil raʿ כִּֽי for kî גָד֤וֹל great gādôl הָאַף֙ the anger ʾap וְהַ֣חֵמָ֔ה and the fury ḥēmâ אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer דִּבֶּ֥ר hath pronounced dābar יְהוָ֖ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶל against ʾēl הָעָ֥ם people. ʿam הַזֶּֽה׃ this ze

וַיַּ֗עַשׂ did ʿāśâ בָּרוּךְ֙ And Baruch bārûk בֶּן the son bēn נֵ֣רִיָּ֔ה of Neriah nēriyyâ כְּכֹ֥ל according to all kōl אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer צִוָּ֖הוּ commanded ṣāwâ יִרְמְיָ֣הוּ Jeremiah yirmĕyâ הַנָּבִ֑יא the prophet nābîʾ לִקְרֹ֥א him, reading qārāʾ בַסֵּ֛פֶר in the book sēper דִּבְרֵ֥י the words dābār יְהוָ֖ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ בֵּ֥ית house. bayit יְהוָֹֽה׃ in the Lord's yĕhōwâ

וַיְהִ֣י And it came to pass hāyâ בַשָּׁנָ֣ה year šāne הַ֠חֲמִשִׁית in the fifth ḥămîšî לִיהוֹיָקִ֨ים of Jehoiakim yĕhôyāqîm בֶּן the son bēn יֹאשִׁיָּ֤הוּ of Josiah yōʾšiyyâ מֶֽלֶךְ king melek יְהוּדָה֙ of Judah, yĕhûdâ בַּחֹ֣דֶשׁ month, ḥōdeš הַתְּשִׁעִ֔י in the ninth tĕšîʿî קָרְא֨וּ they proclaimed qārāʾ צ֜וֹם a fast ṣôm לִפְנֵ֧י before pānîm יְהוָ֛ה the Lord yĕhōwâ כָּל to all kōl הָעָ֖ם the people ʿam בִּירֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם in Jerusalem, yĕrûšālaim וְכָל and to all kōl הָעָ֗ם the people ʿam הַבָּאִ֛ים that came bôʾ מֵעָרֵ֥י from the cities ʿîr יְהוּדָ֖ה of Judah yĕhûdâ בִּירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ unto Jerusalem. yĕrûšālaim

וַיִּקְרָ֨א Then read qārāʾ בָר֥וּךְ Baruch bārûk בַּסֵּ֛פֶר in the book sēper אֶת ʾēt דִּבְרֵ֥י the words dābār יִרְמְיָ֖הוּ of Jeremiah yirmĕyâ בֵּ֣ית in the house bayit יְהוָ֑ה of the Lord, yĕhōwâ בְּלִשְׁכַּ֡ת in the chamber liškâ גְּמַרְיָהוּ֩ of Gemariah gĕmaryâ בֶן the son bēn שָׁפָ֨ן of Shaphan šāpān הַסֹּפֵ֜ר the scribe, sāpar בֶּחָצֵ֣ר court, ḥāṣēr הָעֶלְי֗וֹן in the higher ʿelyôn פֶּ֣תַח at the entry petaḥ שַׁ֤עַר gate šaʿar בֵּית house, bayit יְהוָה֙ of the Lord's yĕhōwâ הֶֽחָדָ֔שׁ of the new ḥādoš בְּאָזְנֵ֖י in the ears ʾōzen כָּל of all kōl הָעָֽם׃ the people. ʿam

וַ֠יִּשְׁמַ֗ע had heard šāmaʿ מִכָ֨יְהוּ When Michaiah mîkāyhû בֶן the son bēn גְּמַרְיָ֧הוּ of Gemariah, gĕmaryâ בֶן the son bēn שָׁפָ֛ן of Shaphan, šāpān אֶת ʾēt כָּל all kōl דִּבְרֵ֥י the words dābār יְהוָ֖ה of the Lord, yĕhōwâ מֵעַ֥ל out of ʿal הַסֵּֽפֶר׃ the book sēper

וַיֵּ֤רֶד Then he went down into yārad בֵּית house, bayit הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ the king's melek עַל into ʿal לִשְׁכַּ֣ת chamber: liškâ הַסֹּפֵ֔ר the scribe's sāpar וְהִ֨נֵּה and, lo, hinnē שָׁ֔ם there, šām כָּל all kōl הַשָּׂרִ֖ים the princes śar יֽוֹשְׁבִ֑ים sat yāšab אֱלִישָׁמָ֣ע Elishama ʾĕlîšāmāʿ הַסֹּפֵ֡ר the scribe, sāpar וּדְלָיָ֣הוּ and Delaiah dĕlāyâ בֶן the son bēn שְׁ֠מַעְיָהוּ of Shemaiah, šĕmaʿyâ וְאֶלְנָתָ֨ן and Elnathan ʾelnātān בֶּן the son bēn עַכְבּ֜וֹר of Achbor, ʿakbôr וּגְמַרְיָ֧הוּ and Gemariah gĕmaryâ בֶן the son bēn שָׁפָ֛ן of Shaphan, šāpān וְצִדְקִיָּ֥הוּ and Zedekiah ṣidqiyyâ בֶן the son bēn חֲנַנְיָ֖הוּ of Hananiah, ḥănanyâ וְכָל and all kōl הַשָּׂרִֽים׃ the princes. śar

וַיַּגֵּ֤ד declared nāgad לָהֶם֙ מִכָ֔יְהוּ Then Michaiah mîkāyhû אֵ֥ת unto them ʾēt כָּל all kōl הַדְּבָרִ֖ים the words dābār אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ʾăšer שָׁמֵ֑עַ he had heard, šāmaʿ בִּקְרֹ֥א read qārāʾ בָר֛וּךְ when Baruch bārûk בַּסֵּ֖פֶר the book sēper בְּאָזְנֵ֥י in the ears ʾōzen הָעָֽם׃ of the people. ʿam

וַיִּשְׁלְח֨וּ sent šālaḥ כָל Therefore all kōl הַשָּׂרִ֜ים the princes śar אֶל unto ʾēl בָּר֗וּךְ Baruch, bārûk אֶת ʾēt יְהוּדִ֡י Jehudi yĕhûdî בֶּן the son bēn נְ֠תַנְיָהוּ of Nethaniah, nĕtanyâ בֶּן the son bēn שֶׁלֶמְיָ֣הוּ of Shelemiah, šelemyâ בֶן the son bēn כּוּשִׁי֮ of Cushi, kûšî לֵאמֹר֒ saying, ʾāmar הַמְּגִלָּ֗ה the roll mĕgillâ אֲשֶׁ֨ר wherein ʾăšer קָרָ֤אתָ thou hast read qārāʾ בָּהּ֙ בְּאָזְנֵ֣י in the ears ʾōzen הָעָ֔ם of the people, ʿam קָחֶ֥נָּה Take lāqaḥ בְיָדְךָ֖ in thine hand yād וָלֵ֑ךְ and come. hālak וַ֠יִּקַּח took lāqaḥ בָּר֨וּךְ So Baruch bārûk בֶּן the son bēn נֵרִיָּ֤הוּ of Neriah nēriyyâ אֶת ʾēt הַמְּגִלָּה֙ the roll mĕgillâ בְּיָד֔וֹ in his hand, yād וַיָּבֹ֖א and came bôʾ אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ unto them. ʾēl

וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ And they said ʾāmar אֵלָ֔יו unto ʾēl שֵׁ֣ב him, Sit down yāšab נָ֔א now, nāʾ וּקְרָאֶ֖נָּה and read qārāʾ בְּאָזְנֵ֑ינוּ it in our ears. ʾōzen וַיִּקְרָ֥א read qārāʾ בָר֖וּךְ So Baruch bārûk בְּאָזְנֵיהֶֽם׃ in their ears. ʾōzen

וַיְהִ֗י Now it came to pass, hāyâ כְּשָׁמְעָם֙ when they had heard šāmaʿ אֶת ʾēt כָּל all kōl הַדְּבָרִ֔ים the words, dābār פָּחֲד֖וּ they were afraid pāḥad אִ֣ישׁ one ʾîš אֶל both ʾēl רֵעֵ֑הוּ and other, rēaʿ וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ and said ʾāmar אֶל unto ʾēl בָּר֔וּךְ Baruch, bārûk הַגֵּ֤יד We will surely nāgad נַגִּיד֙ tell nāgad לַמֶּ֔לֶךְ the king melek אֵ֥ת of ʾēt כָּל all kōl הַדְּבָרִ֖ים words. dābār הָאֵֽלֶּה׃ these ʾēlle

וְאֶ֨ת ʾēt בָּר֔וּךְ Baruch, bārûk שָׁאֲל֖וּ And they asked šāʾal לֵאמֹ֑ר saying, ʾāmar הַגֶּד Tell nāgad נָ֣א us now, nāʾ לָ֔נוּ אֵ֗יךְ How ʾêk כָּתַ֛בְתָּ didst thou write kātab אֶת ʾēt כָּל all kōl הַדְּבָרִ֥ים words dābār הָאֵ֖לֶּה these ʾēlle מִפִּֽיו׃ at his mouth? pe

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר answered ʾāmar לָהֶם֙ בָּר֔וּךְ Then Baruch bārûk מִפִּיו֙ me with his mouth, pe יִקְרָ֣א them, He pronounced qārāʾ אֵלַ֔י unto ʾēl אֵ֥ת ʾēt כָּל all kōl הַדְּבָרִ֖ים words dābār הָאֵ֑לֶּה these ʾēlle וַאֲנִ֛י and I ʾănî כֹּתֵ֥ב wrote kātab עַל in ʿal הַסֵּ֖פֶר the book. sēper בַּדְּיֽוֹ׃ with ink dĕyô

וַיֹּאמְר֤וּ Then said ʾāmar הַשָּׂרִים֙ the princes śar אֶל unto ʾēl בָּר֔וּךְ Baruch, bārûk לֵ֥ךְ Go, hālak הִסָּתֵ֖ר hide sātar אַתָּ֣ה thee, thou ʾattâ וְיִרְמְיָ֑הוּ and Jeremiah; yirmĕyâ וְאִ֥ישׁ man ʾîš אַל and let no ʾal יֵדַ֖ע know yādaʿ אֵיפֹ֥ה where ye be. ʾêpō אַתֶּֽם׃ ʾattâ

וַיָּבֹ֤אוּ And they went in bôʾ אֶל to ʾēl הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ the king melek חָצֵ֔רָה into the court, ḥāṣēr וְאֶת ʾēt הַמְּגִלָּ֣ה the roll mĕgillâ הִפְקִ֔דוּ but they laid up pāqad בְּלִשְׁכַּ֖ת in the chamber liškâ אֱלִישָׁמָ֣ע of Elishama ʾĕlîšāmāʿ הַסֹּפֵ֑ר the scribe, sāpar וַיַּגִּ֙ידוּ֙ and told nāgad בְּאָזְנֵ֣י in the ears ʾōzen הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ of the king. melek אֵ֖ת ʾēt כָּל all kōl הַדְּבָרִֽים׃ the words dābār

וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח sent šālaḥ הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ So the king melek אֶת ʾēt יְהוּדִ֗י Jehudi yĕhûdî לָקַ֙חַת֙ to fetch lāqaḥ אֶת ʾēt הַמְּגִלָּ֔ה the roll: mĕgillâ וַיִּ֨קָּחֶ֔הָ and he took lāqaḥ מִלִּשְׁכַּ֖ת chamber. liškâ אֱלִישָׁמָ֣ע it out of Elishama ʾĕlîšāmāʿ הַסֹּפֵ֑ר the scribe's sāpar וַיִּקְרָאֶ֤הָ read qārāʾ יְהוּדִי֙ And Jehudi yĕhûdî בְּאָזְנֵ֣י it in the ears ʾōzen הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ of the king, melek וּבְאָזְנֵי֙ and in the ears ʾōzen כָּל of all kōl הַשָּׂרִ֔ים the princes śar הָעֹמְדִ֖ים which stood ʿāmad מֵעַ֥ל beside ʿal הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ the king. melek

וְהַמֶּ֗לֶךְ Now the king melek יוֹשֵׁב֙ sat yāšab בֵּ֣ית in the winterhouse bayit הַחֹ֔רֶף ḥōrep בַּחֹ֖דֶשׁ month: ḥōdeš הַתְּשִׁיעִ֑י in the ninth tĕšîʿî וְאֶת ʾēt הָאָ֖ח and on the hearth ʾāḥ לְפָנָ֥יו before him. pānîm מְבֹעָֽרֶת׃ burning bāʿar

וַיְהִ֣י׀ And it came to pass, hāyâ כִּקְר֣וֹא had read qārāʾ יְהוּדִ֗י when Jehudi yĕhûdî שָׁלֹ֣שׁ three šālôš דְּלָתוֹת֮ leaves, delet וְאַרְבָּעָה֒ or four ʾarbaʿ יִֽקְרָעֶ֙הָ֙ he cut qāraʿ בְּתַ֣עַר it with the penknife, taʿar הַסֹּפֵ֔ר sāpar וְהַשְׁלֵ֕ךְ and cast šālak אֶל into ʾēl הָאֵ֖שׁ the fire ʾēš אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ʾăšer אֶל on ʾēl הָאָ֑ח the hearth, ʾāḥ עַד until ʿad תֹּם֙ was consumed tāmam כָּל all kōl הַמְּגִלָּ֔ה the roll mĕgillâ עַל in ʿal הָאֵ֖שׁ the fire ʾēš אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ʾăšer עַל on ʿal הָאָֽח׃ the hearth. ʾāḥ

וְלֹ֣א Yet they were not lōʾ פָחֲד֔וּ afraid, pāḥad וְלֹ֥א nor lōʾ קָרְע֖וּ rent qāraʿ אֶת ʾēt בִּגְדֵיהֶ֑ם their garments, beged הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ the king, melek וְכָל nor any kōl עֲבָדָ֔יו of his servants ʿebed הַשֹּׁ֣מְעִ֔ים that heard šāmaʿ אֵ֥ת ʾēt כָּל all kōl הַדְּבָרִ֖ים words. dābār הָאֵֽלֶּה׃ these ʾēlle

וְגַם֩ Nevertheless gam אֶלְנָתָ֨ן Elnathan ʾelnātān וּדְלָיָ֤הוּ and Delaiah dĕlāyâ וּגְמַרְיָ֙הוּ֙ and Gemariah gĕmaryâ הִפְגִּ֣עוּ had made intercession pāgaʿ בַמֶּ֔לֶךְ to the king melek לְבִלְתִּ֥י that he would not biltî שְׂרֹ֖ף burn śārap אֶת ʾēt הַמְּגִלָּ֑ה the roll: mĕgillâ וְלֹ֥א but he would not lōʾ שָׁמַ֖ע hear šāmaʿ אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ them. ʾēl

וַיְצַוֶּ֣ה commanded ṣāwâ הַ֠מֶּלֶךְ But the king melek אֶת ʾēt יְרַחְמְאֵ֨ל Jerahmeel yĕraḥmĕʾēl בֶּן the son bēn הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ of Hammelech, melek וְאֶת ʾēt שְׂרָיָ֣הוּ and Seraiah śĕrāyâ בֶן the son bēn עַזְרִיאֵ֗ל of Azriel, ʿazrîʾēl וְאֶת ʾēt שֶֽׁלֶמְיָ֙הוּ֙ and Shelemiah šelemyâ בֶּֽן the son bēn עַבְדְּאֵ֔ל of Abdeel, ʿabdĕʾēl לָקַ֙חַת֙ to take lāqaḥ אֶת ʾēt בָּר֣וּךְ Baruch bārûk הַסֹּפֵ֔ר the scribe sāpar וְאֵ֖ת ʾēt יִרְמְיָ֣הוּ and Jeremiah yirmĕyâ הַנָּבִ֑יא the prophet: nābîʾ וַיַּסְתִּרֵ֖ם hid them. sātar יְהוָֽה׃ but the Lord yĕhōwâ

וַיְהִ֥י came hāyâ דְבַר Then the word dābār יְהוָ֖ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶֽל to ʾēl יִרְמְיָ֑הוּ Jeremiah, yirmĕyâ אַחֲרֵ֣י׀ after that ʾaḥar שְׂרֹ֣ף had burned śārap הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ the king melek אֶת ʾēt הַמְּגִלָּה֙ the roll, mĕgillâ וְאֶת ʾēt הַדְּבָרִ֔ים and the words dābār אֲשֶׁ֨ר which ʾăšer כָּתַ֥ב wrote kātab בָּר֛וּךְ Baruch bārûk מִפִּ֥י at the mouth pe יִרְמְיָ֖הוּ of Jeremiah, yirmĕyâ לֵאמֹֽר׃ saying, ʾāmar

שׁ֥וּב thee again šûb קַח Take lāqaḥ לְךָ֖ מְגִלָּ֣ה roll, mĕgillâ אַחֶ֑רֶת another ʾaḥēr וּכְתֹ֣ב and write kātab עָלֶ֗יהָ in ʿal אֵ֤ת it ʾēt כָּל all kōl הַדְּבָרִים֙ words dābār הָרִ֣אשֹׁנִ֔ים the former riʾšôn אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ʾăšer הָי֗וּ were hāyâ עַל in ʿal הַמְּגִלָּה֙ roll, mĕgillâ הָרִ֣אשֹׁנָ֔ה the first riʾšôn אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer שָׂרַ֖ף hath burned. śārap יְהוֹיָקִ֥ים Jehoiakim yĕhôyāqîm מֶֽלֶךְ the king melek יְהוּדָֽה׃ of Judah yĕhûdâ

וְעַל to ʿal יְהוֹיָקִ֤ים Jehoiakim yĕhôyāqîm מֶֽלֶךְ king melek יְהוּדָה֙ of Judah, yĕhûdâ תֹּאמַ֔ר And thou shalt say ʾāmar כֹּ֖ה Thus kō אָמַ֣ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֑ה the Lord; yĕhōwâ אַ֠תָּה Thou ʾattâ שָׂרַ֜פְתָּ hast burned śārap אֶת ʾēt הַמְּגִלָּ֤ה roll, mĕgillâ הַזֹּאת֙ this zōt לֵאמֹ֔ר saying, ʾāmar מַדּוּעַ֩ Why maddûaʿ כָּתַ֨בְתָּ hast thou written kātab עָלֶ֜יהָ therein, ʿal לֵאמֹ֗ר saying, ʾāmar בֹּֽא shall certainly bôʾ יָב֤וֹא come bôʾ מֶֽלֶךְ The king melek בָּבֶל֙ of Babylon bābel וְהִשְׁחִית֙ and destroy šāḥat אֶת ʾēt הָאָ֣רֶץ land, ʾereṣ הַזֹּ֔את this zōt וְהִשְׁבִּ֥ית and shall cause to cease šābat מִמֶּ֖נָּה from min אָדָ֥ם thence man ʾādām וּבְהֵמָֽה׃ and beast? bĕhēmâ

לָכֵ֞ן Therefore kēn כֹּֽה thus kō אָמַ֣ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֗ה the Lord yĕhōwâ עַל of ʿal יְהֽוֹיָקִים֙ Jehoiakim yĕhôyāqîm מֶ֣לֶךְ king melek יְהוּדָ֔ה of Judah; yĕhûdâ לֹא none lōʾ יִֽהְיֶה He shall have hāyâ לּ֥וֹ יוֹשֵׁ֖ב to sit yāšab עַל upon ʿal כִּסֵּ֣א the throne kissēʾ דָוִ֑ד of David: dāwid וְנִבְלָתוֹ֙ and his dead body nĕbēlâ תִּֽהְיֶ֣ה shall be hāyâ מֻשְׁלֶ֔כֶת cast out šālak לַחֹ֥רֶב to the heat, ḥōreb בַּיּ֖וֹם in the day yôm וְלַקֶּ֥רַח to the frost. qeraḥ בַּלָּֽיְלָה׃ and in the night layil

וּפָקַדְתִּ֨י And I will punish pāqad עָלָ֧יו ʿal וְעַל upon ʿal זַרְע֛וֹ him and his seed zeraʿ וְעַל them, and upon ʿal עֲבָדָ֖יו and his servants ʿebed אֶת for ʾēt עֲוֹנָ֑ם their iniquity; ʿāwōn וְהֵבֵאתִ֣י and I will bring bôʾ עֲ֠לֵיהֶם ʿal וְעַל ʿal יֹשְׁבֵ֨י the inhabitants yāšab יְרוּשָׁלִַ֜ם of Jerusalem, yĕrûšālaim וְאֶל and upon ʾēl אִ֣ישׁ the men ʾîš יְהוּדָ֗ה of Judah, yĕhûdâ אֵ֧ת ʾēt כָּל all kōl הָרָעָ֛ה the evil raʿ אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer דִּבַּ֥רְתִּי I have pronounced dābar אֲלֵיהֶ֖ם against ʾēl וְלֹ֥א lōʾ שָׁמֵֽעוּ׃ them; but they hearkened not. šāmaʿ

וְיִרְמְיָ֜הוּ Jeremiah yirmĕyâ לָקַ֣ח׀ Then took lāqaḥ מְגִלָּ֣ה roll, mĕgillâ אַחֶ֗רֶת another ʾaḥēr וַֽיִּתְּנָהּ֮ and gave nātan אֶל it to ʾēl בָּר֣וּךְ Baruch bārûk בֶּן the son bēn נֵרִיָּהוּ֮ of Neriah; nēriyyâ הַסֹּפֵר֒ the scribe, sāpar וַיִּכְתֹּ֤ב who wrote kātab עָלֶ֙יהָ֙ therein ʿal מִפִּ֣י from the mouth pe יִרְמְיָ֔הוּ of Jeremiah yirmĕyâ אֵ֚ת ʾēt כָּל all kōl דִּבְרֵ֣י the words dābār הַסֵּ֔פֶר of the book sēper אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer שָׂרַ֛ף had burned śārap יְהוֹיָקִ֥ים Jehoiakim yĕhôyāqîm מֶֽלֶךְ king melek יְהוּדָ֖ה of Judah yĕhûdâ בָּאֵ֑שׁ in the fire: ʾēš וְע֨וֹד besides ʿôd נוֹסַ֧ף and there were added yāsap עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם unto ʿal דְּבָרִ֥ים words. dābār רַבִּ֖ים them many rab כָּהֵֽמָּה׃ like hēm
