וַיְהִ֧י came hāyâ דְבַר Moreover the word dābār יְהוָ֛ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶֽל unto ʾēl יִרְמְיָ֖הוּ Jeremiah yirmĕyâ שֵׁנִ֑ית the second šēnî וְהוּא֙ time, while he hûʾ עוֹדֶ֣נּוּ was yet ʿôd עָצ֔וּר shut up ʿāṣār בַּחֲצַ֥ר in the court ḥāṣēr הַמַּטָּרָ֖ה of the prison, maṭṭārāʾ לֵאמֹֽר׃ saying, ʾāmar

כֹּֽה Thus kō אָמַ֥ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֖ה the Lord yĕhōwâ עֹשָׂ֑הּ the maker ʿāśâ יְהוָ֗ה thereof, the Lord yĕhōwâ יוֹצֵ֥ר that formed yāṣar אוֹתָ֛הּ ʾēt לַהֲכִינָ֖הּ it, to establish kûn יְהוָ֥ה it; the Lord yĕhōwâ שְׁמֽוֹ׃ his name; šēm

קְרָ֥א Call qārāʾ אֵלַ֖י unto ʾēl וְאֶעֱנֶ֑ךָּ me, and I will answer ʿānâ וְאַגִּ֧ידָה thee, and shew nāgad לְּךָ֛ גְּדֹל֥וֹת thee great gādôl וּבְצֻר֖וֹת and mighty things, bāṣar לֹ֥א lōʾ יְדַעְתָּֽם׃ which thou knowest not. yādaʿ

כִּי֩ For kî כֹ֨ה thus kō אָמַ֤ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָה֙ the Lord, yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵ֣י the God ʾĕlōhîm יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel, yiśrāʾēl עַל concerning ʿal בָּתֵּי֙ the houses bayit הָעִ֣יר city, ʿîr הַזֹּ֔את of this zōt וְעַל and concerning ʿal בָּתֵּ֖י the houses bayit מַלְכֵ֣י of the kings melek יְהוּדָ֑ה of Judah, yĕhûdâ הַנְּתֻצִ֕ים which are thrown down nātaṣ אֶל by ʾēl הַסֹּלְל֖וֹת the mounts, sōlĕlâ וְאֶל and by ʾēl הֶחָֽרֶב׃ the sword; ḥereb

בָּאִ֗ים They come bôʾ לְהִלָּחֵם֙ to fight lāḥam אֶת with ʾēt הַכַּשְׂדִּ֔ים the Chaldeans, kaśdî וּלְמַלְאָם֙ but to fill mālēʾ אֶת them with ʾēt פִּגְרֵ֣י the dead bodies peger הָאָדָ֔ם of men, ʾādām אֲשֶׁר whom ʾăšer הִכֵּ֥יתִי I have slain nākâ בְאַפִּ֖י in mine anger ʾap וּבַחֲמָתִ֑י and in my fury, ḥēmâ וַאֲשֶׁ֨ר whose ʾăšer הִסְתַּ֤רְתִּי I have hid sātar פָנַי֙ my face pānîm מֵהָעִ֣יר city. ʿîr הַזֹּ֔את from this zōt עַ֖ל and for ʿal כָּל all kōl רָעָתָֽם׃ wickedness raʿ

הִנְנִ֧י Behold, hēn מַעֲלֶה I will bring ʿālâ לָּ֛הּ אֲרֻכָ֥ה it health ʾărûkâ וּמַרְפֵּ֖א and cure, marpēʾ וּרְפָאתִ֑ים and I will cure rāpāʾ וְגִלֵּיתִ֣י them, and will reveal gālâ לָהֶ֔ם hēm עֲתֶ֥רֶת unto them the abundance ʿăteret שָׁל֖וֹם of peace šālôm וֶאֱמֶֽת׃ and truth. ʾemet

וַהֲשִֽׁבֹתִי֙ to return, šûb אֶת And I will cause ʾēt שְׁב֣וּת the captivity šĕbût יְהוּדָ֔ה of Judah yĕhûdâ וְאֵ֖ת ʾēt שְׁב֣וּת and the captivity šĕbût יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl וּבְנִתִ֖ים and will build bānâ כְּבָרִֽאשֹׁנָֽה׃ them, as at the first. riʾšôn

וְטִ֣הַרְתִּ֔ים And I will cleanse ṭāhēr מִכָּל them from all kōl עֲוֹנָ֖ם their iniquity, ʿāwōn אֲשֶׁ֣ר whereby ʾăšer חָֽטְאוּ they have sinned ḥāṭāʾ לִ֑י וְסָלַחְתִּ֗י against me; and I will pardon sālaḥ לְכָול all kōl עֲוֹנֽוֹתֵיהֶם֙ their iniquities, ʿāwōn אֲשֶׁ֣ר whereby ʾăšer חָֽטְאוּ they have sinned, ḥāṭāʾ לִ֔י וַאֲשֶׁ֖ר and whereby ʾăšer פָּ֥שְׁעוּ they have transgressed against me. pāšaʿ בִֽי׃

וְהָ֣יְתָה And it shall be hāyâ לִּ֗י לְשֵׁ֤ם to me a name šēm שָׂשׂוֹן֙ of joy, śāśôn לִתְהִלָּ֣ה a praise tĕhillâ וּלְתִפְאֶ֔רֶת and an honour tipʾārâ לְכֹ֖ל before all kōl גּוֹיֵ֣י the nations gôy הָאָ֑רֶץ of the earth, ʾereṣ אֲשֶׁ֨ר which ʾăšer יִשְׁמְע֜וּ shall hear šāmaʿ אֶת ʾēt כָּל all kōl הַטּוֹבָ֗ה the good ṭôb אֲשֶׁ֤ר that ʾăšer אָֽנֹכִי֙ I ʾānōkî עֹשֶׂ֣ה do unto ʿāśâ אוֹתָ֔ם ʾēt וּפָחֲד֣וּ them: and they shall fear pāḥad וְרָֽגְז֗וּ and tremble rāgaz עַ֤ל for ʿal כָּל all kōl הַטּוֹבָה֙ the goodness ṭôb וְעַ֣ל and for ʿal כָּל all kōl הַשָּׁל֔וֹם the prosperity šālôm אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ʾăšer אָֽנֹכִ֖י I ʾānōkî עֹ֥שֶׂה procure unto it. ʿāśâ לָּֽהּ׃

כֹּ֣ה׀ Thus kō אָמַ֣ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֗ה the Lord; yĕhōwâ עוֹד֮ Again ʿôd יִשָּׁמַ֣ע there shall be heard šāmaʿ בַּמָּקוֹם place, māqôm הַזֶּה֒ in this ze אֲשֶׁר֙ which ʾăšer אַתֶּ֣ם ye ʾattâ אֹֽמְרִ֔ים say ʾāmar חָרֵ֣ב desolate ḥārēb ה֔וּא hûʾ מֵאֵ֥ין without ʾayin אָדָ֖ם man ʾādām וּמֵאֵ֣ין and without ʾayin בְּהֵמָ֑ה beast, bĕhēmâ בְּעָרֵ֤י in the cities ʿîr יְהוּדָה֙ of Judah, yĕhûdâ וּבְחֻצ֣וֹת and in the streets ḥûṣ יְרוּשָׁלִַ֔ם of Jerusalem, yĕrûšālaim הַֽנְשַׁמּ֗וֹת that are desolate, šāmēm מֵאֵ֥ין without ʾayin אָדָ֛ם man, ʾādām וּמֵאֵ֥ין and without ʾayin יוֹשֵׁ֖ב inhabitant, yāšab וּמֵאֵ֥ין and without ʾayin בְּהֵמָֽה׃ beast, bĕhēmâ

ק֣וֹל The voice qôl שָׂשׂ֞וֹן of joy, śāśôn וְק֣וֹל and the voice qôl שִׂמְחָ֗ה of gladness, śimḥâ ק֣וֹל the voice qôl חָתָן֮ of the bridegroom, ḥātān וְק֣וֹל and the voice qôl כַּלָּה֒ of the bride, kallâ ק֣וֹל the voice qôl אֹמְרִ֡ים of them that shall say, ʾāmar הוֹדוּ֩ Praise yādâ אֶת ʾēt יְהוָ֨ה the Lord yĕhōwâ צְבָא֜וֹת of hosts: ṣābāʾ כִּֽי for kî ט֤וֹב good; ṭôb יְהוָה֙ the Lord yĕhōwâ כִּֽי for kî לְעוֹלָ֣ם for ever: ʿôlām חַסְדּ֔וֹ his mercy ḥēsēd מְבִאִ֥ים of them that shall bring bôʾ תּוֹדָ֖ה the sacrifice of praise tôdâ בֵּ֣ית into the house bayit יְהוָ֑ה of the Lord. yĕhōwâ כִּֽי For kî אָשִׁ֧יב I will cause to return šûb אֶת ʾēt שְׁבוּת the captivity šĕbût הָאָ֛רֶץ of the land, ʾereṣ כְּבָרִאשֹׁנָ֖ה as at the first, riʾšôn אָמַ֥ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָֽה׃ the Lord. yĕhōwâ

כֹּֽה Thus kō אָמַר֮ saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ צְבָאוֹת֒ of hosts; ṣābāʾ ע֞וֹד Again ʿôd יִֽהְיֶ֣ה׀ thereof, shall be hāyâ בַּמָּק֣וֹם place, māqôm הַזֶּ֗ה in this ze הֶחָרֵ֛ב which is desolate ḥārēb מֵֽאֵין without ʾayin אָדָ֥ם man ʾādām וְעַד and without ʿad בְּהֵמָ֖ה beast, bĕhēmâ וּבְכָל and in all kōl עָרָ֑יו the cities ʿîr נְוֵ֣ה an habitation nāwe רֹעִ֔ים of shepherds rāʿâ מַרְבִּצִ֖ים to lie down. rābaṣ צֹֽאן׃ causing flocks ṣōn

בְּעָרֵ֨י In the cities ʿîr הָהָ֜ר of the mountains, har בְּעָרֵ֤י in the cities ʿîr הַשְּׁפֵלָה֙ of the vale, šĕpēlâ וּבְעָרֵ֣י and in the cities ʿîr הַנֶּ֔גֶב of the south, negeb וּבְאֶ֧רֶץ and in the land ʾereṣ בִּנְיָמִ֛ן of Benjamin, binyāmîn וּבִסְבִיבֵ֥י and in the places about sābîb יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם Jerusalem, yĕrûšālaim וּבְעָרֵ֣י and in the cities ʿîr יְהוּדָ֑ה of Judah, yĕhûdâ עֹ֣ד ʿôd תַּעֲבֹ֧רְנָה pass again ʿābar הַצֹּ֛אן shall the flocks ṣōn עַל under ʿal יְדֵ֥י the hands yād מוֹנֶ֖ה of him that telleth mānâ אָמַ֥ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָֽה׃ the Lord. yĕhōwâ

הִנֵּ֛ה Behold, hinnē יָמִ֥ים the days yôm בָּאִ֖ים come, bôʾ נְאֻם saith nĕʾum יְהוָ֑ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ וַהֲקִֽמֹתִי֙ that I will perform qûm אֶת ʾēt הַדָּבָ֣ר thing dābār הַטּ֔וֹב that good ṭôb אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer דִּבַּ֛רְתִּי I have promised dābar אֶל unto ʾēl בֵּ֥ית the house bayit יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl וְעַל and to ʿal בֵּ֥ית the house bayit יְהוּדָֽה׃ of Judah. yĕhûdâ

בַּיָּמִ֤ים days, yôm הָהֵם֙ In those hēm וּבָעֵ֣ת time, ʿēt הַהִ֔יא and at that hûʾ אַצְמִ֥יחַ to grow up ṣāmaḥ לְדָוִ֖ד unto David; dāwid צֶ֣מַח will I cause the Branch ṣemaḥ צְדָקָ֑ה of righteousness ṣĕdāqâ וְעָשָׂ֛ה and he shall execute ʿāśâ מִשְׁפָּ֥ט judgment mišpāṭ וּצְדָקָ֖ה and righteousness ṣĕdāqâ בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ in the land. ʾereṣ

בַּיָּמִ֤ים days yôm הָהֵם֙ In those hēm תִּוָּשַׁ֣ע be saved, yāšaʿ יְהוּדָ֔ה shall Judah yĕhûdâ וִירוּשָׁלִַ֖ם and Jerusalem yĕrûšālaim תִּשְׁכּ֣וֹן shall dwell šākan לָבֶ֑טַח safely: beṭaḥ וְזֶ֥ה and this ze אֲשֶׁר wherewith ʾăšer יִקְרָא she shall be called, qārāʾ לָ֖הּ יְהוָ֥ה׀ The Lord yĕhōwâ צִדְקֵֽנוּ׃ our righteousness. ṣedeq

כִּי For kî כֹ֖ה thus kō אָמַ֣ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֑ה the Lord; yĕhōwâ לֹֽא shall never lōʾ יִכָּרֵ֣ת want kārat לְדָוִ֔ד David dāwid אִ֕ישׁ a man ʾîš יֹשֵׁ֖ב to sit yāšab עַל upon ʿal כִּסֵּ֥א the throne kissēʾ בֵֽית of the house bayit יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of Israel; yiśrāʾēl

וְלַכֹּהֲנִים֙ shall the priests kōhēn הַלְוִיִּ֔ם the Levites lēwiyyî לֹֽא Neither lōʾ יִכָּרֵ֥ת want kārat אִ֖ישׁ a man ʾîš מִלְּפָנָ֑י before pānîm מַעֲלֶ֨ה me to offer ʿālâ עוֹלָ֜ה burnt offerings, ʿōlâ וּמַקְטִ֥יר and to kindle qāṭar מִנְחָ֛ה meat offerings, minḥâ וְעֹ֥שֶׂה and to do ʿāśâ זֶּ֖בַח sacrifice zebaḥ כָּל kōl הַיָּמִֽים׃ continually. yôm

וַֽיְהִי֙ came hāyâ דְּבַר And the word dābār יְהוָ֔ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶֽל unto ʾēl יִרְמְיָ֖הוּ Jeremiah, yirmĕyâ לֵאמֽוֹר׃ saying, ʾāmar

כֹּ֚ה Thus kō אָמַ֣ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֔ה the Lord; yĕhōwâ אִם If ʾim תָּפֵ֙רוּ֙ ye can break pārar אֶת ʾēt בְּרִיתִ֣י my covenant bĕrît הַיּ֔וֹם of the day, yôm וְאֶת ʾēt בְּרִיתִ֖י and my covenant bĕrît הַלָּ֑יְלָה of the night, layil וּלְבִלְתִּ֛י and that there should not biltî הֱי֥וֹת be hāyâ יֽוֹמָם day yômām וָלַ֖יְלָה and night layil בְּעִתָּֽם׃ in their season; ʿēt

גַּם may also gam בְּרִיתִ֤י my covenant bĕrît תֻפַר֙ be broken pārar אֶת with ʾēt דָּוִ֣ד David dāwid עַבְדִּ֔י my servant, ʿebed מִהְיֽוֹת that he should not have hāyâ ל֥וֹ בֵ֖ן a son bēn מֹלֵ֣ךְ to reign mālak עַל upon ʿal כִּסְא֑וֹ his throne; kissēʾ וְאֶת and with ʾēt הַלְוִיִּ֥ם the Levites lēwiyyî הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים the priests, kōhēn מְשָׁרְתָֽי׃ my ministers. šārat

אֲשֶׁ֤ר As ʾăšer לֹֽא cannot lōʾ יִסָּפֵר֙ be numbered, sāpar צְבָ֣א the host ṣābāʾ הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם of heaven šāmayim וְלֹ֥א neither lōʾ יִמַּ֖ד measured: mādad ח֣וֹל the sand ḥôl הַיָּ֑ם of the sea yām כֵּ֣ן so kēn אַרְבֶּ֗ה will I multiply rābâ אֶת ʾēt זֶ֙רַע֙ the seed zeraʿ דָּוִ֣ד of David dāwid עַבְדִּ֔י my servant, ʿebed וְאֶת ʾēt הַלְוִיִּ֖ם and the Levites lēwiyyî מְשָׁרְתֵ֥י that minister unto me. šārat אֹתִֽי׃ ʾēt

הֲל֣וֹא thou not lōʾ רָאִ֗יתָ Considerest rāʾâ מָֽה what mâ הָעָ֤ם people ʿam הַזֶּה֙ this ze דִּבְּר֣וּ have spoken, dābar לֵאמֹ֔ר saying, ʾāmar שְׁתֵּ֣י The two šĕnayim הַמִּשְׁפָּח֗וֹת families mišpāḥâ אֲשֶׁ֨ר which ʾăšer בָּחַ֧ר hath chosen, bāḥar יְהוָ֛ה the Lord yĕhōwâ בָּהֶ֖ם וַיִּמְאָסֵ֑ם he hath even cast them off? māʾas וְאֶת ʾēt עַמִּי֙ my people, ʿam יִנְאָצ֔וּן thus they have despised nāʾaṣ מִֽהְי֥וֹת that they should be no hāyâ ע֖וֹד more ʿôd גּ֥וֹי a nation gôy לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃ before them. pānîm

כֹּ֚ה Thus kō אָמַ֣ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֔ה the Lord; yĕhōwâ אִם If ʾim לֹ֥א not lōʾ בְרִיתִ֖י my covenant bĕrît יוֹמָ֣ם with day yômām וָלָ֑יְלָה and night, layil חֻקּ֛וֹת the ordinances ḥuqqâ שָׁמַ֥יִם of heaven šāmayim וָאָ֖רֶץ and earth; ʾereṣ לֹא I have not lōʾ שָֽׂמְתִּי׃ appointed śûm

גַּם Then gam זֶ֣רַע the seed zeraʿ יַעֲקוֹב֩ of Jacob, yaʿăqōb וְדָוִ֨ד and David dāwid עַבְדִּ֜י my servant, ʿebed אֶמְאַ֗ס will I cast away māʾas מִקַּ֤חַת that I will not take lāqaḥ מִזַּרְעוֹ֙ of his seed zeraʿ מֹֽשְׁלִ֔ים rulers māšal אֶל over ʾēl זֶ֥רַע the seed zeraʿ אַבְרָהָ֖ם of Abraham, ʾabrāhām יִשְׂחָ֣ק Isaac, yiśḥāq וְיַעֲקֹ֑ב and Jacob: yaʿăqōb כִּֽי for kî אָשִׁ֥וב to return, šûb אֶת I will cause ʾēt שְׁבוּתָ֖ם their captivity šĕbût וְרִחַמְתִּֽים׃ and have mercy on them. rāḥam
