அவனைத் திராட்சத்தோட்டத்திற்குப் புறம்பே தள்ளி, கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள். இப்படியிருக்க, திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தின் எஜமான் அவர்களை என்ன செய்வான்?

அப்படியே ராஜா தன்னோடு இருக்கிற தளபதியான யோவாபைப் பார்த்து: மக்களின் எண்ணிக்கையை நான் அறியும்படி நீ தாண்முதல் பெயெர்செபா வரையுள்ள இஸ்ரவேலர்களின் கோத்திரங்கள் எங்கும் சுற்றித்திரிந்து மக்களைக் கணக்கெடுங்கள் என்றான்.

தாவீது அரசன் படைத் தலைவனாகிய யோவாபை நோக்கி, “தாணிலிருந்து பெயெர் செபா வரைக்கும் எல்லா இஸ்ரவேல் கோத்திரங்களிடமும் நீ போய் ஜனங்களின் எண்ணிக்கையைக் கணக்கிடு. அப்போது நான் மொத்த ஜனங்கள் தொகையைப் பற்றித் தெரிந்துக்கொள்ள முடியும்” என்றான்.
