1 இஸ்ரவேலர் மிஸ்பாவிலே இருக்கும் போது: நம்மில் ஒருவனும் தன் குமாரத்தியைப் பென்யமீனருக்கு விவாகம்பண்ணிக்கொடுப்பதில்லை என்று ஆணையிட்டிருந்தார்கள். Now the men of Israel had sworn in Mizpeh, saying, There shall not any of us give his daughter unto Benjamin to wife.

2 ஆகையால் ஜனங்கள் தேவனுடைய வீட்டிற்குப் போய், அங்கே தேவசந்நிதியில் சாயங்காலமட்டும் இருந்து, சத்தமிட்டு, மிகவும் அழுது; And the people came to the house of God, and abode there till even before God, and lifted up their voices, and wept sore;

3 இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தாவே, இன்று இஸ்ரவேலில் ஒரு கோத்திரம் குறைந்துபோகத்தக்கதாக இஸ்ரவேலில் இந்தக் காரியம் நேரிட்டது என்ன என்றார்கள். And said, O LORD God of Israel, why is this come to pass in Israel, that there should be to day one tribe lacking in Israel?

4 மறுநாளிலே, ஜனங்கள் காலமே எழுந்திருந்து, அங்கே ஒரு பலிபீடத்தைக் கட்டி, சர்வாங்க தகனபலிகளையும் சமாதான பலிகளையும் செலுத்தினார்கள். And it came to pass on the morrow, that the people rose early, and built there an altar, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings.

5 கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் மிஸ்பாவுக்கு வராதவன் நிச்சயமாய்க் கொலை செய்யப்படக்கடவன் என்று அவர்கள் பெரிய ஆணையிட்டிருந்தபடியால், இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர்: கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் சபைகூடினபோது, இஸ்ரவேலுடைய எல்லாக் கோத்திரங்களிலுமிருந்து வராதே போனவர்கள் யார் என்று விசாரித்தார்கள். And the children of Israel said, Who is there among all the tribes of Israel that came not up with the congregation unto the LORD? For they had made a great oath concerning him that came not up to the LORD to Mizpeh, saying, He shall surely be put to death.

6 இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் தங்கள் சகோதரராகிய பென்யமீனரை நினைத்து, மனஸ்தாபப்பட்டு: இன்று இஸ்ரவேலில் ஒரு கோத்திரம் அறுப்புண்டுபோயிற்றே. And the children of Israel repented them for Benjamin their brother, and said, There is one tribe cut off from Israel this day.

7 மீந்திருப்பவர்களுக்கு மனைவிகள் கிடைக்கும்படி நாம் அவர்களுக்காக என்னசெய்யலாம்? நம்முடைய குமாரத்திகளில் ஒருத்தியையும் அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுப்பதில்லை என்று நாம் கர்த்தர் மேல் ஆணையிட்டுக்கொண்டோமே, How shall we do for wives for them that remain, seeing we have sworn by the LORD that we will not give them of our daughters to wives?

8 இஸ்ரவேலின் கோத்திரங்களில் மிஸ்பாவிலே கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் வராதேபோன யாதொருவர் உண்டோ என்று விசாரித்தார்கள்; அப்பொழுது கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள யாபேசின் மனுஷரில் ஒருவரும் பாளயத்தில் சபைகூடினபோது வரவில்லை. And they said, What one is there of the tribes of Israel that came not up to Mizpeh to the LORD? And, behold, there came none to the camp from Jabeshgilead to the assembly.

9 ஜனங்கள் இலக்கம்பார்க்கப்பட்ட போது, கீலேயாத்திலிருக்கிற யாபேசின் குடிகளில் அங்கே ஒருவரும் இருந்ததில்லை. For the people were numbered, and, behold, there were none of the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead there.

10 உடனே சபையார் பலவான்களில் பன்னீராயிரம்பேரை அங்கே அழைத்து: நீங்கள் போய், கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள யாபேசின் குடிகளை ஸ்திரீகளோடும் பிள்ளைகளோடும் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் வெட்டுங்கள். And the congregation sent thither twelve thousand men of the valiantest, and commanded them, saying, Go and smite the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead with the edge of the sword, with the women and the children.

11 சகல ஆண்பிள்ளைகளையும், புருஷரை அறிந்த சகல பெண்பிள்ளைகளையும் சங்கரிக்கடவீர்கள் என்று அவர்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டு அனுப்பினார்கள். And this is the thing that ye shall do, Ye shall utterly destroy every male, and every woman that hath lain by man.

12 இவர்கள் கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள யாபேசின் குடிகளிடத்திலே புருஷரை அறியாத நானூறு கன்னிப்பெண்களைக் கண்டு பிடித்து, அவர்களைக் கானான்தேசமான சீலோவிலிருக்கிற பாளயத்திற்குக் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள். And they found among the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead four hundred young virgins, that had known no man by lying with any male: and they brought them unto the camp to Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan.

13 அப்பொழுது ரிம்மோன் கன்மலையிலிருக்கிற பென்யமீன் புத்திரரோடே பேசவும், அவர்களுக்குச் சமாதானம் கூறவும், சபையார் எல்லாரும் மனுஷரை அனுப்பினார்கள். And the whole congregation sent some to speak to the children of Benjamin that were in the rock Rimmon, and to call peaceably unto them.

14 அப்படியே அக்காலத்தில் பென்யமீனர் திரும்ப வந்தார்கள்; கீலேயாத்திலிருக்கிற யாபேசின் ஸ்திரீகளில் உயிரோடே வைத்த பெண்களை அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்தார்கள்; அப்படிச் செய்தும் அவர்கள் தொகைக்குக் காணாதிருந்தது. And Benjamin came again at that time; and they gave them wives which they had saved alive of the women of Jabeshgilead: and yet so they sufficed them not.

15 இஸ்ரவேல் கோத்திரங்களிலே கர்த்தர் ஒரு பிளப்பை உண்டாக்கினார் என்று ஜனங்கள் பென்யமீனருக்காக மனஸ்தாபப்பட்டார்கள். And the people repented them for Benjamin, because that the LORD had made a breach in the tribes of Israel.

16 பென்யமீன் கோத்திர ஸ்திரீகள் அழிந்தபடியினாலே, மீதியான மற்றப்பேர்களுக்கும் மனைவிகள் கிடைக்கும்படி என்னசெய்யலாம் என்று சபையின் மூப்பரானவர்கள் கேட்டு, Then the elders of the congregation said, How shall we do for wives for them that remain, seeing the women are destroyed out of Benjamin?

17 இஸ்ரவேலில் ஒரு கோத்திரம் நிர்மூலமாகாதபடிக்கு, தப்பினவர்களுடைய சுதந்தரம் பென்யமீனுக்கு இருக்கவேண்டுமே, And they said, There must be an inheritance for them that be escaped of Benjamin, that a tribe be not destroyed out of Israel.

18 நாமோ நம்முடைய குமாரத்திகளில் அவர்களுக்குப் பெண்கொடுக்கக் கூடாது; பென்யமீனருக்குப் பெண்கொடுக்கிறவன் சபிக்கப்பட்டவன் என்று, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் ஆணையிட்டார்களே என்றார்கள். Howbeit we may not give them wives of our daughters: for the children of Israel have sworn, saying, Cursed be he that giveth a wife to Benjamin.

19 பின்னும், இதோ, பெத்தேலுக்கு வடக்கே பெத்தேலிலிருந்து சீகேமுக்குப் போகிற பாதைக்கு கிழக்காகவும் லிபோனாவுக்குத் தெற்காகவும் இருக்கிற சீலோவிலே வருஷந்தோறும் கர்த்தருக்குப் பண்டிகை கொண்டாடப்படுகிறதே என்று சொல்லி, Then they said, Behold, there is a feast of the LORD in Shiloh yearly in a place which is on the north side of Bethel, on the east side of the highway that goeth up from Bethel to Shechem, and on the south of Lebonah.

20 அவர்கள் பென்யமீன் புத்திரரை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் போய், திராட்சத்தோட்டங்களிலே பதிவிருந்து, Therefore they commanded the children of Benjamin, saying, Go and lie in wait in the vineyards;

21 சீலோவின் குமாரத்திகள் கீதவாத்தியத்தோடே நடனம்பண்ணுகிறவர்களாய்ப் புறப்பட்டு வருகிறதை நீங்கள் காணும்போது, திராட்சத்தோட்டங்களிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு, உங்களில் அவரவர் சீலோவின் குமாரத்திகளில், ஒவ்வொரு பெண்ணைப் பிடித்துப் பென்யமீன் தேசத்திற்குக் கொண்டுபோங்கள். And see, and, behold, if the daughters of Shiloh come out to dance in dances, then come ye out of the vineyards, and catch you every man his wife of the daughters of Shiloh, and go to the land of Benjamin.

And it shall be, when their fathers or their brethren come unto us to complain, that we will say unto them, Be favorable unto them for our sakes: because we reserved not to each man his wife in the war: for ye did not give unto them at this time, that ye should be guilty.

23 பென்யமீன் புத்திரர் அப்படியே செய்து, நடனம்பண்ணுகிறவர்களிலே தங்கள் தொகைக்குச் சரியான பெண்களை மனைவிகளாகப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு, தங்கள் சுதந்தரத்திற்குத் திரும்பிப்போய், பட்டணங்களைப் புதுப்பித்துக் கட்டி, அவைகளில் குடியிருந்தார்கள். And the children of Benjamin did so, and took them wives, according to their number, of them that danced, whom they caught: and they went and returned unto their inheritance, and repaired the cities, and dwelt in them.

24 இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரும் அக்காலத்திலே அவ்விடம் விட்டு அவரவர் தங்கள் கோத்திரத்துக்கும் தங்கள் குடும்பத்துக்கும் போய், அவரவர் தங்கள் சுதந்தரத்தில் சேர்ந்தார்கள். And the children of Israel departed thence at that time, every man to his tribe and to his family, and they went out from thence every man to his inheritance.

25 அந்நாட்களிலே இஸ்ரவேலில் ராஜா இல்லை; அவனவன் தன்தன் பார்வைக்குச் சரிப்போனபடி செய்துவந்தான். In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

1 Isravaelar mispaavilae irukkum pothu: nammil oruvanum than kumaaraththiyaip penyameenarukku vivaakampannnnikkoduppathillai entu aannaiyittirunthaarkal. Now the men of Israel had sworn in Mizpeh, saying, There shall not any of us give his daughter unto Benjamin to wife.

2 Aakaiyaal janangal thaevanutaiya veettirkup poy, angae thaevasannithiyil saayangaalamattum irunthu, saththamittu, mikavum aluthu; And the people came to the house of God, and abode there till even before God, and lifted up their voices, and wept sore;

3 Isravaelin thaevanaakiya karththaavae, intu isravaelil oru koththiram kurainthupokaththakkathaaka isravaelil inthak kaariyam naerittathu enna entarkal. And said, O LORD God of Israel, why is this come to pass in Israel, that there should be to day one tribe lacking in Israel?

4 Maraுnaalilae, janangal kaalamae elunthirunthu, angae oru palipeedaththaik katti, sarvaanga thakanapalikalaiyum samaathaana palikalaiyum seluththinaarkal. And it came to pass on the morrow, that the people rose early, and built there an altar, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings.

5 Karththarutaiya sannithiyil mispaavukku varaathavan nichchayamaayk kolai seyyappadakkadavan entu avarkal periya aannaiyittirunthapatiyaal, Israel puththirar: karththarutaiya sannithiyil Sabaikootinapothu, isravaelutaiya ellaak koththirangalilumirunthu varaathae ponavarkal yaar entu visaariththaarkal. And the children of Israel said, Who is there among all the tribes of Israel that came not up with the congregation unto the LORD? For they had made a great oath concerning him that came not up to the LORD to Mizpeh, saying, He shall surely be put to death.

6 Israel puththirar thangal sakothararaakiya penyameenarai ninaiththu, manasthaapappattu: intu isravaelil oru koththiram araுppunndupoyitte. And the children of Israel repented them for Benjamin their brother, and said, There is one tribe cut off from Israel this day.

7 Meenthiruppavarkalukku manaivikal kitaikkumpati naam avarkalukkaaka ennaseyyalaam? Nammutaiya kumaaraththikalil oruththiyaiyum avarkalukkuk koduppathillai entu naam Karththar mael aannaiyittukkonntoomae, How shall we do for wives for them that remain, seeing we have sworn by the LORD that we will not give them of our daughters to wives?

8 Isravaelin koththirangalil mispaavilae karththarutaiya sannithiyil varaathaepona yaathoruvar unntoo entu visaariththaarkal; appoluthu geelaeyaaththilulla yaapaesin manusharil oruvarum paalayaththil Sabaikootinapothu varavillai. And they said, What one is there of the tribes of Israel that came not up to Mizpeh to the LORD? And, behold, there came none to the camp from Jabeshgilead to the assembly.

9 Janangal ilakkampaarkkappatta pothu, geelaeyaaththilirukkira yaapaesin kutikalil angae oruvarum irunthathillai. For the people were numbered, and, behold, there were none of the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead there.

10 Udanae Sabaiyaar palavaankalil panneeraayirampaerai angae alaiththu: neengal poy, geelaeyaaththilulla yaapaesin kutikalai sthireekalodum pillaikalodum pattayakkarukkinaal vettungal. And the congregation sent thither twelve thousand men of the valiantest, and commanded them, saying, Go and smite the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead with the edge of the sword, with the women and the children.

11 Sakala aannpillaikalaiyum, purusharai arintha sakala pennpillaikalaiyum sangarikkadaveerkal entu avarkalukkuk kattalaiyittu anuppinaarkal. And this is the thing that ye shall do, Ye shall utterly destroy every male, and every woman that hath lain by man.

12 Ivarkal geelaeyaaththilulla yaapaesin kutikalidaththilae purusharai ariyaatha naanooraு kannippennkalaik kanndu pitiththu, avarkalaik kaanaanthaesamaana seelovilirukkira paalayaththirkuk konnduvanthaarkal. And they found among the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead four hundred young virgins, that had known no man by lying with any male: and they brought them unto the camp to Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan.

13 Appoluthu rimmon kanmalaiyilirukkira penyameen puththirarotae paesavum, avarkalukkuch samaathaanam kooravum, Sabaiyaar ellaarum manusharai anuppinaarkal. And the whole congregation sent some to speak to the children of Benjamin that were in the rock Rimmon, and to call peaceably unto them.

14 Appatiyae akkaalaththil penyameenar thirumpa vanthaarkal; geelaeyaaththilirukkira yaapaesin sthireekalil uyirotae vaiththa pennkalai avarkalukkuk koduththaarkal; appatich seythum avarkal thokaikkuk kaannaathirunthathu. And Benjamin came again at that time; and they gave them wives which they had saved alive of the women of Jabeshgilead: and yet so they sufficed them not.

15 Israel koththirangalilae Karththar oru pilappai unndaakkinaar entu janangal penyameenarukkaaka manasthaapappattarkal. And the people repented them for Benjamin, because that the LORD had made a breach in the tribes of Israel.

16 Penyameen koththira sthireekal alinthapatiyinaalae, meethiyaana mattappaerkalukkum manaivikal kitaikkumpati ennaseyyalaam entu Sabaiyin moopparaanavarkal kaettu, Then the elders of the congregation said, How shall we do for wives for them that remain, seeing the women are destroyed out of Benjamin?

17 Isravaelil oru koththiram nirmoolamaakaathapatikku, thappinavarkalutaiya suthantharam penyameenukku irukkavaenndumae, And they said, There must be an inheritance for them that be escaped of Benjamin, that a tribe be not destroyed out of Israel.

18 Naamo nammutaiya kumaaraththikalil avarkalukkup pennkodukkak koodaathu; penyameenarukkup pennkodukkiravan sapikkappattavan entu, Israel puththirar aannaiyittarkalae entarkal. Howbeit we may not give them wives of our daughters: for the children of Israel have sworn, saying, Cursed be he that giveth a wife to Benjamin.

19 Pinnum, itho, peththaelukku vadakkae peththaelilirunthu seekaemukkup pokira paathaikku kilakkaakavum liponaavukkuth therkaakavum irukkira seelovilae varushanthoraுm karththarukkup panntikai konndaadappadukirathae entu solli, Then they said, Behold, there is a feast of the LORD in Shiloh yearly in a place which is on the north side of Bethel, on the east side of the highway that goeth up from Bethel to Shechem, and on the south of Lebonah.

21 Seelovin kumaaraththikal geethavaaththiyaththotae nadanampannnukiravarkalaayp purappattu varukirathai neengal kaanumpothu, thiraatchaththottangalilirunthu purappattu, ungalil avaravar seelovin kumaaraththikalil, ovvoru pennnnaip pitiththup penyameen thaesaththirkuk konndupongal. And see, and, behold, if the daughters of Shiloh come out to dance in dances, then come ye out of the vineyards, and catch you every man his wife of the daughters of Shiloh, and go to the land of Benjamin.

22 Avarkalutaiya thakappanmaaraakilum, sakothararaakilum engalidaththil muraiyida varumpothu, naangal avarkalai Nnokki: engal nimiththam avarkalukkuth thayavuseyyungal; naangal yuththampannnni, avanavanukku manaiviyai vaangikodukkavillai; ungalmael kuttamunndaaka ippothu neengal avarkalukku manaivikalaik kodukkavum illai enpom entu sonnaarkal. And it shall be, when their fathers or their brethren come unto us to complain, that we will say unto them, Be favorable unto them for our sakes: because we reserved not to each man his wife in the war: for ye did not give unto them at this time, that ye should be guilty.

23 Penyameen puththirar appatiyae seythu, nadanampannnukiravarkalilae thangal thokaikkuch sariyaana pennkalai manaivikalaakap pitiththukkonndu, thangal suthantharaththirkuth thirumpippoy, pattanangalaip puthuppiththuk katti, avaikalil kutiyirunthaarkal. And the children of Benjamin did so, and took them wives, according to their number, of them that danced, whom they caught: and they went and returned unto their inheritance, and repaired the cities, and dwelt in them.

24 Israel puththirarum akkaalaththilae avvidam vittu avaravar thangal koththiraththukkum thangal kudumpaththukkum poy, avaravar thangal suthantharaththil sernthaarkal. And the children of Israel departed thence at that time, every man to his tribe and to his family, and they went out from thence every man to his inheritance.

25 Annaatkalilae isravaelil raajaa illai; avanavan thanthan paarvaikkuch saripponapati seythuvanthaan. In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.
