পুরানো দিনের কথা জেরুশালেম ভাবছে| ভাবছে সেই সময়ের কথা যখন সে যন্ত্রণা ভোগ করছিল এবং ছড়িয়ে পড়েছিল| তার সমস্ত মূল্যবান জিনিষ হারানোর কথা| পুরানো দিনের উল্লেখয়োগ্য মধুর ঘটনার কথা| শএুদের হাতে নিজের লোকদের বন্দী হওয়ার কথাও সে স্মরণ করছে| ধ্বংসের সময় শএুরা তাকে দেখে উপহাস করেছিল| সে সময় তাকে সাহায্য করার কেউ ছিল না|

Jerusalem remembered in the days of her affliction and of her miseries all her pleasant things that she had in the days of old, when her people fell into the hand of the enemy, and none did help her: the adversaries saw her, and did mock at her sabbaths.
