அவன் தான் விலைப்பட்ட வருஷந்தொடங்கி, யூபிலி வருஷம்வரைக்கும் உண்டான காலத்தைத் தன்னை விலைக்குக்கொண்டவனுடன் கணக்குப்பார்க்கக்கடவன்; அவனுடைய விலைக்கிரயம் கூலிக்காரனுடைய காலக்கணக்குப்போல, வருஷத்தொகைக்கு ஒத்துப்பார்க்கவேண்டும்.

அப்பொழுது ராஜாவாகிய ரெகொபெயாம் தன்னுடைய தகப்பனாகிய சாலொமோன் உயிரோடு இருக்கும்போது அவனுக்கு முன்பாக நின்ற முதியவர்களோடு ஆலோசனைசெய்து, இந்த மக்களுக்கு பதில் சொல்ல, நீங்கள் என்ன யோசனை சொல்லுகிறீர்கள் என்று கேட்டான்.

சாலொமோன் உயிரோடு இருந்தபோது அவனுக்கு யோசனை சொல்வதற்காகச் சில முதியவர்கள் இருந்தனர். அவர்களிடம் ரெகொபெயாம் என்ன செய்வது என்று கேட்டான். ரெகொபெயாம், “இந்த ஜனங்களுக்கு நான் என்னபதில் சொல்ல வேண்டும்?” என்று கலந்து ஆலோசித்தான்.
