உன் செய்கைக்குத்தக்க பலனைக் கர்த்தர் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிடுவாராக; இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருடைய செட்டைகளின்கீழ் அடைக்கலமாய் வந்த உனக்கு அவராலே நிறைவான பலன் கிடைப்பதாக என்றான்.

அப்பொழுது யூதேயா தேசத்தார் மற்றும் எருசலேம் நகரத்தார் அனைவரும், யோவானிடம்போய், தங்களுடைய பாவங்களை அறிக்கைசெய்து, யோர்தான் நதியில் அவனால் ஞானஸ்நானம் பெற்றார்கள்.
