நான் பார்த்தபோது, இதோ, மங்கினநிறமுள்ள ஒரு குதிரையைக் கண்டேன்; அதின்மேல் ஏறியிருந்தவனுக்கு மரணம் என்று பெயர்; பாதாளம் அவன்பின் சென்றது. பட்டயத்தினாலும், பஞ்சத்தினாலும், சாவினாலும், பூமியின் துஷ்டமிருகங்களினாலும், பூமியின் காற்பங்கிலுள்ளவர்களைக் கொலைசெய்யும்படியான அதிகாரம் அவைகளுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்பட்டது.

நான் பார்த்தபோது மங்கிய நிறமுள்ள ஒரு குதிரை வந்தது. இக்குதிரையை ஓட்டி வந்தவனுக்கு “மரணம்” என்று பெயர். மேலும் அவனுக்குப் பின்னால் “பாதாளம்” நெருக்கமாய் வந்துகொண்டிருந்தது. உலகில் உள்ள கால் பங்கு மக்களின்மேல் அவனுக்கு அதிகாரம் கொடுக்கப்பட்டது. வாளாலும், பஞ்சத்தாலும் நோயாலும் காட்டு மிருகங்களாலும் மக்களைக் கொல்லும் அதிகாரத்தை அவன் பெற்றான்.
