ਬਾਰਾਂ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪੋ-ਆਪਣੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ। ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦੋ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੰਡੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ-ਮਨੱਸ਼ਹ ਅਤੇ ਅਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ। ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਧਰਤੀ ਮਿਲੀ। ਪਰ ਲੇਵੀ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਧਰਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਹਿਣ ਲਈ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਕੁਝ ਕਸਬੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ। ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਕਸਬੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਸ਼ੂਆਂ ਲਈ ਖੇਤ ਵੀ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ।
