ਅਮੋਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਹਰਸ ਪਹਾੜ, ਅਯਾਲੋਨ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਲਬੀਮ ਪਰਬਤ ਉੱਤੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਦਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਬਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਦਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਵੱਧੇਰੇ ਤਾਕਤਵਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਅਮੋਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ਬਰਦਸਤੀ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ।
1 Samuel 6:12
ਗਊਆਂ ਸਿੱਧੀਆਂ ਬੈਤਸ਼ਮਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਗਈਆਂ। ਉਹ ਸੜਕ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਦੀਆਂ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ, ਰਾਹ ’ਚ ਅੜਾਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ। ਉਹ ਕਿਤੇ ਵੀ ਖੱਬੇ ਜਾਂ ਸੱਜੇ ਨਾ ਮੁੜੀਆਂ। ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਨੀ ਸ਼ਾਸਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ-ਪਿੱਛੇ ਬੈਤਸ਼ਮਸ਼ ਦੀ ਹੱਦ ਤੱਕ ਗਏ।

ਤਾਂ ਬੈਤਸ਼ਮਸ਼ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਭਲਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਕੀ ਮਜ਼ਾਲ ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਇਸ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਅੱਗੇ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋ ਸੱਕੇਗਾ, ਕੌਣ ਜਾਜਕ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਇਸ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰ ਸੱਕੇ। ਇੱਥੇ ਇਹ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਕਿਸ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਵੇ?”
