ਯੋਆਬ ਨੇ ਲੇਵੀ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਨਯਾਮੀਨ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਗਿਣਿਆ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਯੋਆਬ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਊਦ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਹੁਕਮ ਭਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।

ਯੋਆਬ ਨੇ ਅਮਾਸਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ! ਤੂੰ ਸੁੱਖ-ਸਾਂਦ ਨਾਲ ਹੈਂ?” ਤਾਂ ਯੋਆਬ ਨੇ ਅਮਾਸਾ ਦੀ ਦਾਹੜੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੱਜੇ ਹੱਥ ਨਾਲ ਫ਼ੜ ਲਈ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੰਮ ਕੇ ਵੇਖੋ ਆਖ ਸੱਕੇ।

ਸਰੂਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯੋਆਬ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗਿਣਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਿਆ। ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਇਸੇ ਕਾਰਣ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਦਾਊਦ ਪਾਤਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਇਤਹਾਸ ਦੀ ਪੋਥੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਰਜ ਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ।
