1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ:ଯୀଶୁଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କ ସବେକ ଓ ପ୍ ରରେିତ,ଶିମିଯୋନ ପିତର ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ, ଯେଉଁମାନଙ୍କର ବିଶ୍ବାସ ଅତି ବହୁମୂଲ୍ଯ, ଏହି ପତ୍ରଟି ଲେଖୁଅଛି।

2 Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,ଅନୁଗ୍ରହ ଓ ଶାନ୍ତି ପ୍ରଚୁର ଭାବେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ମିଳୁ। ତୁମ୍ଭମାନେେ ପ୍ରକୃତ ରେ ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କୁ ଓ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ପ୍ରଭୁ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କୁ ଜାଣିଥିବାରୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଅନୁଗ୍ରହ ଓ ଶାନ୍ତି ପାଇବ।

3 seeing that his divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue;ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କଠା ରେ ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ଶକ୍ତି ଅଛି। ଆମ୍ଭର ଜୀବନଯାପନ ପାଇଁ ଓ ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କୁ ସବୋ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଯାହା କିଛି ଦରକାର ସେ ସବୁ ଆପଣା ଶକ୍ତି ରେ ଆମ୍ଭକୁ ଦଇେଛନ୍ତି। ଆମ୍ଭେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଜାଣିଛୁ ବୋଲି ଏହାସବୁ ପାଇଛୁ। ଯୀଶୁ ଆପଣା ମହିମା ଓ ଉତ୍ତମତା ରେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଡ଼ାକିଛନ୍ତି।

4 by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust.ଯୀଶୁ ନିଜ ମହିମା ଓ ଉତ୍ତମତା ହତେୁ, ପ୍ରତିଜ୍ଞା କରିଥିବା ଅତି ମୂଲ୍ଯବାନ୍ ଓ ମହତ ବିଷୟଗୁଡ଼ିକ ଆମ୍ଭକୁ ଦଇେଛନ୍ତି। ସହେି ଦାନଗୁଡ଼ିକ ସାହାୟ୍ଯ ରେ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ଆଚରଣର ଅଂଶ ହାଇପୋରିବ। ଏହାଦ୍ବାରା ଜଗତ ରେ ଥିବା ମନ୍ଦ ବିଷୟଗୁଡ଼ିକ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ନଷ୍ଟ କରିପାରିବ ନାହିଁ।

5 Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge;ଯେ ହତେୁ ଏହି ଆଶୀର୍ବାଦଗୁଡ଼ିକ ତୁମ୍ଭଠା ରେ ଅଛି, ତେଣୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ନିଜ ଜୀବନ ରେ ଏଗୁଡ଼ିକ ଅଧିକ ପାଇବା ପାଇଁ ପାରୁପର୍ୟ୍ଯନ୍ତ ପରିଶ୍ରମ କରିବା ଉଚିତ। ନିଜ ବିଶ୍ବାସ ରେ ଉତ୍ତମ ଗୁଣ, ନିଜ ଉତ୍ତମଗୁଣ ରେ ଜ୍ଞାନ,

6 and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control patience; and in patience godliness;ଜ୍ଞାନ ରେ ଆତ୍ମସଂୟମତା, ଆତ୍ମସଂୟମତା ରେ ର୍ଧୈୟ୍ଯ ଓ ର୍ଧୈୟ୍ଯ ରେ ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ସବୋ,

7 and in godliness brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love.ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ସବୋ ରେ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ ଭାଇ ଓ ଭଉଣୀମାନଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ଦୟାଭାବ, ଓ ଏହି ଦୟା ରେ ପ୍ ରମେକୁ ୟୋଗ କର।

8 For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle nor unfruitful to the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.ଯଦି ଏସମସ୍ତ ବିଷୟ ତୁମ୍ଭ ଭିତ ରେ ଅଛି ଓ ବୃଦ୍ଧି ପାଇ ଚାଲିଛି, ତା' ହେଲେ ତୁମ୍ଭେ କବେେ ହେଲେ ଶିଥିଳ ହବେ ନାହିଁ। ସଗେୁଡ଼ିକ ଆମ୍ଭ ପ୍ରଭୁ ଯୀଶୁ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କ ବିଷୟକ ଜ୍ଞାନ ରେ ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣତା ପାଇବା ପାଇଁ କବେେ ହେଲେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ମୂଲ୍ଯହୀନ ହବୋକୁ ଦବେ ନାହିଁ।

9 For he who lacks these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.ଯଦି କୌଣସି ଲୋକଠା ରେ ଏଗୁଡ଼ିକ ନାହିଁ, ତା ହେଲେ ସେ ସ୍ପଷ୍ଟ ଭାବେ ଦେଖି ପାରିବ ନାହିଁ। ସେ ଲୋକ ଅନ୍ଧ। ସେ ପୂର୍ବକୃତ ପାପରୁ କ୍ଷମା ପାଇଅଛି ବୋଲି ଭୁଲିଯାଇଛି।

10 Therefore, brothers,{The word for "brothers" here and where context allows may also be correctly translated "brothers and sisters" or "siblings."} be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble.ମାେ ଭାଇ ଭଉଣୀମାନେ, ପରମେଶ୍ବର ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଡ଼ାକି ମନୋନୀତ କରି ନିଜର କରିଛନ୍ତି। ତୁମ୍ଭର ସର୍ବୋତ୍ତମ କାର୍ୟ୍ଯ ଦ୍ବାରା ପ୍ରମାଣିତ କରିବାକୁ ଚେଷ୍ଟା କର ଯେ, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ଦ୍ବାରା ଡ଼କା ଯାଇଛ ଓ ବଚ୍ଛା ଯାଇଛ ଏବଂ ଏପରି କାର୍ୟ୍ଯ କଲେ ତୁମ୍ଭେ କବେେ ହେଲେ ଝୁଣ୍ଟିବ ନାହିଁ।

11 For thus will be richly supplied to you the entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.ଆମ୍ଭ ପ୍ରଭୁ ଓ ତ୍ରାଣକର୍ତ୍ତା ଯୀଶୁଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କ ରାଜ୍ଯ ରେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ସ୍ବାଗତ କରାୟିବ। ସହେି ରାଜ୍ଯ ଅନନ୍ତକାଳସ୍ଥାଯୀ ଅଟେ।

12 Therefore I will not be negligent to remind you of these things, though you know them, and are established in the present truth.ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଏହି କଥା ଜାଣ। ତୁମ୍ଭଠା ରେ ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ ଥିବା ସତ୍ଯ ରେ, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଅତି ଦୃଢ଼ ଅଟ। କିନ୍ତୁ ମୁଁ ସବୁବେଳେ ଏହି କଥାଗୁଡ଼ିକ ମନେ ପକାଇବା ପାଇଁ ସାହାୟ୍ଯ କରୁଥିବି।

13 I think it right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you;ମୁଁ ଶରୀର ରେ ବଞ୍ଚିଥିବା ପର୍ୟ୍ଯନ୍ତ, ଏକଥା ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ମନେ ପକାଉଥିବା ରେ ସାହାୟ୍ଯ କରିବି, ଏହା ଉଚିତ ବୋଲି ମୁଁ ମନେ କରେ।

14 knowing that the putting off of my tent comes swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me.ମୁଁ ଜାଣେ ଯେ, ମୁଁ ଶୀଘ୍ର ମାରେ ଶରୀର ତ୍ଯାଗ କରିବି। ଆମ୍ଭ ପ୍ରଭୁ ଯୀଶୁଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ ମାେତେ ତାହା ଦଖାଇେଛନ୍ତି।

15 Yes, I will make every effort that you may always be able to remember these things even after my departure.ତୁମ୍ଭମାନେେ ଏହିକଥା ସର୍ବଦା ମନରେଖିବା ପାଇଁ ମୁଁ ପାରୁ ପର୍ୟ୍ଯନ୍ତ ଚେଷ୍ଟା କରିବି। ମୁଁ ଚାଲିଗଲା ପରେ ମଧ୍ଯ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଯେପରି ଏକଥା ମନେ ରଖିବ, ଏହା ମୁଁ ଚା ହେଁ।

16 For we did not follow cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.ଆମ୍ଭେ ଆମ୍ଭ ପ୍ରଭୁ ଯୀଶୁଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କ ଶକ୍ତି ବିଷୟ ରେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଛୁ। ତାହାଙ୍କର ଆସିବା ବିଷୟ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଛୁ। ସଗେୁଡ଼ିକ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ବିଜ୍ଞାନ ପାଇଁ ମନଗଢ଼ା ଗଳ୍ପ ନୁହେଁ। ଆମ୍ଭେ ନିଜେ ନିଜ ଆଖି ରେ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କର ମହାନତା ଦେଖିଛୁ।

17 For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."ଯେତବେେଳେ ପରମପିତା ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ଠାରୁ ଯୀଶୁ ସମ୍ମାନ ଓ ମହିମା ପାଇଥିଲେ, ସେତବେେଳେ ଯୀଶୁ ପିତା ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ମହାଗୌରବୟୁକ୍ତ ବାଣୀ ଶୁଣିଥିଲେ। ସହେି ସ୍ବର କହିଥିଲା : ଏ ମାରେପୁତ୍ର, ମୁଁ ତାହାକୁ ପ୍ ରମେ କରେ। ମୁଁ ତା' ଉପରେ ଅତି ପ୍ରସନ୍ନ।

18 This voice we heard come out of heaven when we were with him in the holy mountain.ଆମ୍ଭେ ସହେି ବାଣୀ ଶୁଣିଛୁ। ଆମ୍ଭମାନେେ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ସହିତ ପବିତ୍ର ପର୍ବତ ରେ ଥିଲା ବେଳେ ଏହି ବାଣୀ ଆକାଶରୁ ଆସିଥିଲା।

19 We have the more sure word of prophecy; whereunto you do well that you take heed, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns, and the day star arises in your hearts:ଭବିଷ୍ଯଦ୍ ବକ୍ତା କହିଥିବା କଥାଗୁଡ଼ିକ ବିଷୟ ରେ ସୁନିଶ୍ଚିତ ହବୋ ପାଇଁ ଏହା ଅଧିକ ସାହାୟ୍ଯ କରେ। ଭବିଷ୍ଯଦ୍ ବକ୍ତାମାନେ ଯାହା ଯାହା କହିଛନ୍ତି, ସଗେୁଡ଼ିକୁ ଯଥାସମ୍ଭବ କାର୍ୟ୍ଯକାରୀ କରିବା ତୁମ୍ଭ ପାଇଁ ଭଲ। ସମାନେେ ଯାହା କହିଛନ୍ତି ତାହା ଅନ୍ଧକାର ରେ ଜ୍ଯୋତିଃ ତୁଲ୍ଯ ପ୍ରକାଶିତ ହେଲା। ସକାଳ ହବୋ ପର୍ୟ୍ଯନ୍ତ ଓ ପ୍ରଭାତୀ ତାରା ତୁମ୍ଭ ମନ ରେ ନୂତନ ଜ୍ଯୋତିଃ ନ ଆଣିବା ପର୍ୟ୍ଯନ୍ତ, ତୁମ୍ଭ ପାଖ ରେ ସହେି ଜ୍ଯୋତିଃ ଅଛି।

20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of private interpretation.ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରର କୌଣସି ଭାବବାଣୀ ମନୁଷ୍ଯର ନିଜର ବ୍ଯାଖ୍ଯା ନୁହେଁ।

21 For no prophecy ever came by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke, being moved by the Holy Spirit.କୌଣସି ଭବିଷ୍ଯତ୍ ବାଣୀ, ମନୁଷ୍ଯର ନିଜର ଇଚ୍ଛାରୁ ଜାତ ହାଇେ ନାହିଁ। କିନ୍ତୁ ଲୋକମାନେ ପବିତ୍ର ଆତ୍ମା ଦ୍ବାରା ଚାଳିତ ହାଇେ, ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କଠାରୁ ପ୍ରାପ୍ତ କଥା କହି ଅଛନ୍ତି।
