1 பின்பு இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் பிரயாணம் பண்ணி, எரிகோவின் கிட்ட இருக்கும் யோர்தானுக்கு இக்கரையிலே மோவாபின் சமனான வெளிகளில் பாளயமிறங்கினார்கள். And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in the plains of Moab on this side Jordan by Jericho.

2 இஸ்ரவேலர் எமோரியருக்குச் செய்த யாவையும் சிப்போரின் குமாரனாகிய பாலாக் கண்டான். And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites.

3 ஜனங்கள் ஏராளமாயிருந்தபடியினால், மோவாப் மிகவும் பயந்து, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரினிமித்தம் கலக்கமடைந்து, And Moab was sore afraid of the people, because they were many: and Moab was distressed because of the children of Israel.

4 மீதியானரின் மூப்பரை நோக்கி: மாடு வெளியின் புல்லை மேய்கிறதுபோல, இப்பொழுது இந்தக் கூட்டம் நம்மைச் சுற்றியிருக்கிற யாவையும் மேய்ந்துபோடும் என்றான் அக்காலத்திலே சிப்போரின் குமாரனாகிய பாலாக் மோவாபியருக்கு ராஜாவாயிருந்தான். And Moab said unto the elders of Midian, Now shall this company lick up all that are round about us, as the ox licketh up the grass of the field. And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time.

5 அவன் பேயோரின் குமாரனாகிய பிலேயாமை அழைத்துவரும்படி, தன் சந்ததியாருடைய தேசத்தில் நதியருகேயுள்ள பெத்தூருக்கு ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பி: எகிப்திலிருந்து ஒரு ஜனக்கூட்டம் வந்திருக்கிறது; அவர்கள் பூமியின் விசாலத்தை மூடி, எனக்கு எதிரே இறங்கியிருக்கிறார்கள். He sent messengers therefore unto Balaam the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me:

6 அவர்கள் என்னிலும் பலவான்கள்; ஆகிலும், நீர் ஆசீர்வதிக்கிறவன் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவன், நீர் சபிக்கிறவன் சபிக்கப்பட்டவன் என்று அறிவேன்; ஆதலால், நீர் வந்து, எனக்காக அந்த ஜனத்தைச் சபிக்கவேண்டும்; அப்பொழுது ஒருவேளை நான் அவர்களை முறிய அடித்து, அவர்களை இத்தேசத்திலிருந்து துரத்திவிடலாம் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னான். Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.

7 அப்படியே மோவாபின் மூப்பரும் மீதியானின் மூப்பரும் குறிசொல்லுதலுக்குரிய கூலியைத் தங்கள் கையில் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு புறப்பட்டு, பிலேயாமிடத்தில் போய், பாலாகின் வார்த்தைகளை அவனுக்குச் சொன்னார்கள். And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam, and spake unto him the words of Balak.

8 அவன் அவர்களை நோக்கி: இராத்திரிக்கு இங்கே தங்கியிருங்கள்; கர்த்தர் எனக்குச் சொல்லுகிறபடியே உங்களுக்கு உத்தரவு கொடுப்பேன் என்றான்; அப்படியே மோவாபின் பிரபுக்கள் பிலேயாமிடத்தில் தங்கினார்கள். And he said unto them, Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as the LORD shall speak unto me: and the princes of Moab abode with Balaam.

9 தேவன் பிலேயாமிடத்தில் வந்து: உன்னிடத்திலிருக்கிற இந்த மனிதர் யார் என்றார். And God came unto Balaam, and said, What men are these with thee?

10 பிலேயாம் தேவனை நோக்கி: சிப்போரின் குமாரனாகிய பாலாக் என்னும் மோவாபின் ராஜா அவர்களை என்னிடத்துக்கு அனுப்பி: And Balaam said unto God, Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, hath sent unto me, saying,

11 பூமியின் விசாலத்தை மூடுகிற ஒரு ஜனக்கூட்டம் எகிப்திலிருந்து வந்திருக்கிறது; ஆகையால், நீ வந்து எனக்காக அவர்களைச் சபிக்கவேண்டும்; அப்பொழுது நான் அவர்களோடே யுத்தம் பண்ணி, ஒருவேளை அவர்களைத் துரத்திவிடலாம் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னான் என்றான். Behold, there is a people come out of Egypt, which covereth the face of the earth: come now, curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to overcome them, and drive them out.

12 அதற்குத் தேவன் பிலேயாமை நோக்கி: நீ அவர்களோடே போகவேண்டாம்; அந்த ஜனங்களைச் சபிக்கவும் வேண்டாம்; அவர்கள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள் என்றார். And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed.

13 பிலேயாம் காலமே எழுந்து, பாலாகின் பிரபுக்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் உங்கள் தேசத்திற்குப் போய்விடுங்கள்; நான் உங்களோடேகூட வருகிறதற்குக் கர்த்தர் எனக்கு உத்தரவு கொடுக்கமாட்டோம் என்கிறார் என்று சொன்னான். And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said unto the princes of Balak, Get you into your land: for the LORD refuseth to give me leave to go with you.

14 அப்படியே மோவாபியருடைய பிரபுக்கள் எழுந்து, பாலாகினிடத்தில் போய்: பிலேயாம் எங்களோடே வரமாட்டேன் என்று சொன்னான் என்றார்கள். And the princes of Moab rose up, and they went unto Balak, and said, Balaam refuseth to come with us.

15 பாலாக் மறுபடியும் அவர்களிலும் கனவான்களான அதிக பிரபுக்களை அனுப்பினான். And Balak sent yet again princes, more, and more honorable than they.

16 அவர்கள் பிலேயாமிடத்தில் போய், அவனை நோக்கி: சிப்போரின் குமாரனாகிய பாலாக் எங்களை அனுப்பி: நீர் என்னிடத்தில் வருகிறதற்குத் தடைபடவேண்டாம்; And they came to Balaam, and said to him, Thus saith Balak the son of Zippor, Let nothing, I pray thee, hinder thee from coming unto me:

17 உம்மை மிகவும் கனம்பண்ணுவேன்; நீர் சொல்வதையெல்லாம் செய்வேன்; நீர் வந்து எனக்காக அந்த ஜனங்களைச் சபிக்கவேண்டும் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னார் என்றார்கள். For I will promote thee unto very great honor, and I will do whatsoever thou sayest unto me: come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people.

18 பிலேயாம் பாலாகின் ஊழியக்காரருக்கு பிரதியுத்தரமாக: பாலாக் எனக்குத் தன் வீடு நிறைய வெள்ளியும் பொன்னும் தந்தாலும், சிறிய காரியமானாலும் பெரியகாரியமானாலும் செய்யும்பொருட்டு, என் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின் கட்டளையை நான் மீறக் கூடாது. And Balaam answered and said unto the servants of Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to do less or more.

19 ஆகிலும், கர்த்தர் இனிமேல் எனக்கு என்ன சொல்லுவார் என்பதை நான் அறியும்படிக்கு நீங்களும் இந்த இராத்திரி இங்கே தங்கியிருங்கள் என்றான். Now therefore, I pray you, tarry ye also here this night, that I may know what the LORD will say unto me more.

20 இரவிலே தேவன் பிலேயாமிடத்தில் வந்து: அந்த மனிதர் உன்னைக் கூப்பிட வந்திருந்தால், நீ அவர்களோடே கூடப்போ; ஆனாலும் நான் உனக்குச் சொல்லும் வார்த்தையின்படிமாத்திரம் நீ செய்யவேண்டும் என்றார். And God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up, and go with them; but yet the word which I shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do.

21 பிலேயாம் காலமே எழுந்து, தன் கழுதையின்மேல் சேணங்கட்டி, மோவாபின் பிரபுக்களோடேகூடப் போனான். And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab.

22 அவன் போகிறதினாலே தேவனுக்குக் கோபம் மூண்டது; கர்த்தருடைய தூதனானவர் வழியிலே அவனுக்கு எதிராளியாக நின்றார். அவன் தன் கழுதையின் மேல் ஏறிப்போனான்; அவன் வேலைக்காரர் இரண்டுபேரும் அவனோடே இருந்தார்கள். And God's anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him.

23 கர்த்தருடைய தூதனானவர் உருவின பட்டயத்தைத் தம்முடைய கையிலே பிடித்துக்கொண்டு வழியிலே நிற்கிறதைக் கழுதை கண்டு, வழியை விட்டு வயலிலே விலகிப்போயிற்று; கழுதையை வழியில் திருப்ப பிலேயாம் அதை அடித்தான். And the ass saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way.

24 கர்த்தருடைய தூதனானவர் இருபுறத்திலும் சுவர் வைத்திருந்த திராட்சத் தோட்டங்களின் பாதையிலே போய் நின்றார். But the angel of the LORD stood in a path of the vineyards, a wall being on this side, and a wall on that side.

25 கழுதை கர்த்தருடைய தூதனைக்கண்டு, சுவர் ஓரமாய் ஒதுங்கி, பிலேயாமின் காலைச் சுவரோடே நெருக்கிற்று; திரும்பவும் அதை அடித்தான். And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she thrust herself unto the wall, and crushed Balaam's foot against the wall: and he smote her again.

26 அப்பொழுது கர்த்தருடைய தூதன் அப்புறம் போய், வலதுபுறம் இடதுபுறம் விலக வழியில்லாத இடுக்கமான இடத்திலே நின்றார். And the angel of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left.

27 கழுதை கர்த்தருடைய தூதனைக் கண்டு, பிலேயாமின் கீழ்ப் படுத்துக்கொண்டது; பிலேயாம் கோபம் மூண்டவனாகி, கழுதையைத் தடியினால் அடித்தான். And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam's anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff.

28 உடனே கர்த்தர் கழுதையின் வாயைத் திறந்தார்; அது பிலேயாமைப் பார்த்து: நீர் என்னை இப்பொழுது மூன்று தரம் அடிக்கும்படி நான் உமக்கு என்ன செய்தேன் என்றது. And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?

29 அப்பொழுது பிலேயாம் கழுதையைப் பார்த்து: நீ என்னைப் பரியாசம் பண்ணிக்கொண்டு வருகிறாய்; என் கையில் ஒரு பட்டயம்மாத்திரம் இருந்தால் இப்பொழுதே உன்னைக் கொன்றுபோடுவேன் என்றான். And Balaam said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee.

30 கழுதை பிலேயாமை நோக்கி: நீர் என்னைக் கைக்கொண்ட காலமுதல் இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் நீர் ஏறின கழுதை நான் அல்லவா? இப்படி உமக்கு எப்போதாகிலும் நான் செய்தது உண்டா என்றது. அதற்கு அவன்: இல்லை என்றான். And the ass said unto Balaam, Am not I thine ass, upon which thou hast ridden ever since I was thine unto this day? was I ever wont to do so unto thee? And he said, Nay.

31 அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் பிலேயாமின் கண்களைத் திறந்தார்; வழியிலே நின்று உருவின பட்டத்தைத் தம்முடைய கையிலே பிடித்திருக்கிற தூதனைக் கண்டு, தலைகுனிந்து முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து பணிந்தான். Then the LORD opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and he bowed down his head, and fell flat on his face.

32 கர்த்தருடைய தூதனானவர் அவனை நோக்கி: நீ உன் கழுதையை இதனோடே மூன்றுதரம் அடித்ததென்ன? உன் வழி எனக்கு மாறுபாடாயிருக்கிறதினால், நான் உனக்கு எதிரியாகப் புறப்பட்டு வந்தேன். And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these three times? behold, I went out to withstand thee, because thy way is perverse before me:

33 கழுதை என்னைக் கண்டு, இந்த மூன்று தரம் எனக்கு விலகிற்று; எனக்கு விலகாமல் இருந்ததானால், இப்பொழுது நான் உன்னை கொன்றுபோட்டு, கழுதையை உயிரோடே வைப்பேன் என்றார். And the ass saw me, and turned from me these three times: unless she had turned from me, surely now also I had slain thee, and saved her alive.

34 அப்பொழுது பிலேயாம் கர்த்தருடைய தூதனை நோக்கி: நான் பாவஞ்செய்தேன்; வழியிலே நீர் எனக்கு எதிராக நிற்கிறதை அறியாதிருந்தேன்; இப்பொழுதும் உமது பார்வைக்கு இது தகாததாயிருக்குமானால், நான் திரும்பிப் போய்விடுகிறேன் என்றான். And Balaam said unto the angel of the LORD, I have sinned; for I knew not that thou stoodest in the way against me: now therefore, if it displease thee, I will get me back again.

35 கர்த்தருடைய தூதனானவர் பிலேயாமை நோக்கி: அந்த மனிதரோடே கூடப்போ; நான் உன்னோடே சொல்லும் வார்த்தையைமாத்திரம் நீ சொல்லக்கடவாய் என்றார்; அப்படியே பிலேயாம் பாலாகின் பிரபுக்களோடேகூடப் போனான். And the angel of the LORD said unto Balaam, Go with the men: but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.

36 பிலேயாம் வருகிறதைப் பாலாக் கேட்டமாத்திரத்தில், கடைசி எல்லையான அர்னோன் நதியின் ஓரத்திலுள்ள மோவாபின் பட்டணமட்டும் அவனுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டு போனான். And when Balak heard that Balaam was come, he went out to meet him unto a city of Moab, which is in the border of Arnon, which is in the utmost coast.

37 பாலாக் பிலேயாமை நோக்கி: உம்மை அழைக்கும்படி நான் ஆவலோடே உம்மிடத்தில் ஆள் அனுப்பவில்லையா? என்னிடத்திற்கு வராமல் இருந்ததென்ன? ஏற்றபிரகாரமாக உம்மை நான் கனம் பண்ணமாட்டேனா என்றான். And Balak said unto Balaam, Did I not earnestly send unto thee to call thee? wherefore camest thou not unto me? am I not able indeed to promote thee to honor?

38 அப்பொழுது பிலேயாம் பாலாகை நோக்கி: இதோ, உம்மிடத்திற்கு வந்தேன்; ஆனாலும் ஏதாகிலும் சொல்லுகிறதற்கு என்னாலே ஆகுமோ: தேவன் என் வாயிலே அளிக்கும் வார்த்தையையே சொல்லுவேன் என்றான். And Balaam said unto Balak, Lo, I am come unto thee: have I now any power at all to say any thing? the word that God putteth in my mouth, that shall I speak.

39 பிலேயாம் பாலாகுடனேகூடப் போனான்; அவர்கள் கீரியாத் ஊசோத்தில் சேர்ந்தார்கள். And Balaam went with Balak, and they came unto Kirjathhuzoth.

40 அங்கே பாலாக் ஆடுமாடுகளை அடித்து, பிலேயாமுக்கும் அவனோடிருந்த பிரபுக்களுக்கும் அனுப்பினான். And Balak offered oxen and sheep, and sent to Balaam, and to the princes that were with him.

41 மறுநாள் காலமே பாலாக் பிலேயாமைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, அவனைப் பாகாலுடைய மேடுகளில் ஏறப்பண்ணினான்; அவ்விடத்திலிருந்து பிலேயாம் ஜனத்தின் கடைசிப் பாளயத்தைப் பார்த்தான். And it came to pass on the morrow, that Balak took Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of Baal, that thence he might see the utmost part of the people.

1 Pinpu Israel puththirar pirayaanam pannnni, erikovin kitta irukkum yorthaanukku ikkaraiyilae movaapin samanaana velikalil paalayamiranginaarkal. And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in the plains of Moab on this side Jordan by Jericho.

2 Isravaelar emoriyarukkuch seytha yaavaiyum sipporin kumaaranaakiya paalaak kanndaan. And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites.

3 Janangal aeraalamaayirunthapatiyinaal, movaap mikavum payanthu, Israel puththirarinimiththam kalakkamatainthu, And Moab was sore afraid of the people, because they were many: and Moab was distressed because of the children of Israel.

4 Meethiyaanarin moopparai Nnokki: maadu veliyin pullai maeykirathupola, ippoluthu inthak koottam nammaich suttiyirukkira yaavaiyum maeynthupodum entan akkaalaththilae sipporin kumaaranaakiya paalaak movaapiyarukku raajaavaayirunthaan. And Moab said unto the elders of Midian, Now shall this company lick up all that are round about us, as the ox licketh up the grass of the field. And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time.

5 Avan paeyorin kumaaranaakiya pilaeyaamai alaiththuvarumpati, than santhathiyaarutaiya thaesaththil nathiyarukaeyulla peththoorukku sthaanaapathikalai anuppi: ekipthilirunthu oru janakkoottam vanthirukkirathu; avarkal poomiyin visaalaththai mooti, enakku ethirae irangiyirukkiraarkal. 6 Avarkal ennilum palavaankal; aakilum, neer aaseervathikkiravan aaseervathikkappattavan, neer sapikkiravan sapikkappattavan entu arivaen; aathalaal, neer vanthu, enakkaaka antha janaththaich sapikkavaenndum; appoluthu oruvaelai naan avarkalai muriya atiththu, avarkalai iththaesaththilirunthu thuraththividalaam entu sollachchaொnnaan. Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.

7 Appatiyae movaapin moopparum meethiyaanin moopparum kurisolluthalukkuriya kooliyaith thangal kaiyil eduththukkonndu purappattu, pilaeyaamidaththil poy, paalaakin vaarththaikalai avanukkuch sonnaarkal. And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam, and spake unto him the words of Balak.

8 Avan avarkalai Nnokki: iraaththirikku ingae thangiyirungal; Karththar enakkuch sollukirapatiyae ungalukku uththaravu koduppaen entan; appatiyae movaapin pirapukkal pilaeyaamidaththil thanginaarkal. And he said unto them, Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as the LORD shall speak unto me: and the princes of Moab abode with Balaam.

9 Dhevan pilaeyaamidaththil vanthu: unnidaththilirukkira intha manithar yaar entar. And God came unto Balaam, and said, What men are these with thee?

10 Pilaeyaam thaevanai Nnokki: sipporin kumaaranaakiya paalaak ennum movaapin raajaa avarkalai ennidaththukku anuppi: And Balaam said unto God, Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, hath sent unto me, saying,

11 Poomiyin visaalaththai moodukira oru janakkoottam ekipthilirunthu vanthirukkirathu; aakaiyaal, nee vanthu enakkaaka avarkalaich sapikkavaenndum; appoluthu naan avarkalotae yuththam pannnni, oruvaelai avarkalaith thuraththividalaam entu sollachchaொnnaan entan. Behold, there is a people come out of Egypt, which covereth the face of the earth: come now, curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to overcome them, and drive them out.

12 Atharkuth Dhevan pilaeyaamai Nnokki: nee avarkalotae pokavaenndaam; antha janangalaich sapikkavum vaenndaam; avarkal aaseervathikkappattavarkal entar. And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed.

13 Pilaeyaam kaalamae elunthu, paalaakin pirapukkalai Nnokki: neengal ungal thaesaththirkup poyvidungal; naan ungalotaekooda varukiratharkuk Karththar enakku uththaravu kodukkamaattaோm enkiraar entu sonnaan. And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said unto the princes of Balak, Get you into your land: for the LORD refuseth to give me leave to go with you.

14 Appatiyae movaapiyarutaiya pirapukkal elunthu, paalaakinidaththil poy: pilaeyaam engalotae varamaattaேn entu sonnaan entarkal. And the princes of Moab rose up, and they went unto Balak, and said, Balaam refuseth to come with us.

15 Paalaak maraுpatiyum avarkalilum kanavaankalaana athika pirapukkalai anuppinaan. And Balak sent yet again princes, more, and more honorable than they.

16 Avarkal pilaeyaamidaththil poy, avanai Nnokki: sipporin kumaaranaakiya paalaak engalai anuppi: neer ennidaththil varukiratharkuth thataipadavaenndaam; And they came to Balaam, and said to him, Thus saith Balak the son of Zippor, Let nothing, I pray thee, hinder thee from coming unto me:

17 Ummai mikavum kanampannnuvaen; neer solvathaiyellaam seyvaen; neer vanthu enakkaaka antha janangalaich sapikkavaenndum entu sollachchaொnnaar entarkal. For I will promote thee unto very great honor, and I will do whatsoever thou sayest unto me: come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people.

18 Pilaeyaam paalaakin ooliyakkaararukku pirathiyuththaramaaka: paalaak enakkuth than veedu niraiya velliyum ponnum thanthaalum, siriya kaariyamaanaalum periyakaariyamaanaalum seyyumporuttu, en thaevanaakiya karththarin kattalaiyai naan meerak koodaathu. And Balaam answered and said unto the servants of Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to do less or more.

19 Aakilum, Karththar inimael enakku enna solluvaar enpathai naan ariyumpatikku neengalum intha iraaththiri ingae thangiyirungal entan. Now therefore, I pray you, tarry ye also here this night, that I may know what the LORD will say unto me more.

20 Iravilae Dhevan pilaeyaamidaththil vanthu: antha manithar unnaik kooppida vanthirunthaal, nee avarkalotae koodappo; aanaalum naan unakkuch sollum vaarththaiyinpatimaaththiram nee seyyavaenndum entar. And God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up, and go with them; but yet the word which I shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do.

21 Pilaeyaam kaalamae elunthu, than kaluthaiyinmael senangatti, movaapin pirapukkalotaekoodap ponaan. And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab.

22 Avan pokirathinaalae thaevanukkuk kopam moonndathu; karththarutaiya thoothanaanavar valiyilae avanukku ethiraaliyaaka nintar. Avan than kaluthaiyin mael aeripponaan; avan vaelaikkaarar iranndupaerum avanotae irunthaarkal. And God's anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him.

23 Karththarutaiya thoothanaanavar uruvina pattayaththaith thammutaiya kaiyilae pitiththukkonndu valiyilae nirkirathaik kaluthai kanndu, valiyai vittu vayalilae vilakippoyittaு; kaluthaiyai valiyil thiruppa pilaeyaam athai atiththaan. And the ass saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way.

24 Karththarutaiya thoothanaanavar irupuraththilum suvar vaiththiruntha thiraatchath thottangalin paathaiyilae poy nintar. But the angel of the LORD stood in a path of the vineyards, a wall being on this side, and a wall on that side.

25 Kaluthai karththarutaiya thoothanaikkanndu, suvar oramaay othungi, pilaeyaamin kaalaich suvarotae nerukkittaு; thirumpavum athai atiththaan. And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she thrust herself unto the wall, and crushed Balaam's foot against the wall: and he smote her again.

26 Appoluthu karththarutaiya thoothan appuram poy, valathupuram idathupuram vilaka valiyillaatha idukkamaana idaththilae nintar. And the angel of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left.

27 Kaluthai karththarutaiya thoothanaik kanndu, pilaeyaamin geelp paduththukkonndathu; pilaeyaam kopam moonndavanaaki, kaluthaiyaith thatiyinaal atiththaan. And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam's anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff.

28 Udanae Karththar kaluthaiyin vaayaith thiranthaar; athu pilaeyaamaip paarththu: neer ennai ippoluthu moontu tharam atikkumpati naan umakku enna seythaen entathu. And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?

29 Appoluthu pilaeyaam kaluthaiyaip paarththu: nee ennaip pariyaasam pannnnikkonndu varukiraay; en kaiyil oru pattayammaaththiram irunthaal ippoluthae unnaik kontupoduvaen entan. And Balaam said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee.

30 Kaluthai pilaeyaamai Nnokki: neer ennaik kaikkonnda kaalamuthal innaalvaraikkum neer aerina kaluthai naan allavaa? Ippati umakku eppothaakilum naan seythathu unndaa entathu. Atharku avan: illai entan. And the ass said unto Balaam, Am not I thine ass, upon which thou hast ridden ever since I was thine unto this day? was I ever wont to do so unto thee? And he said, Nay.

31 Appoluthu Karththar pilaeyaamin kannkalaith thiranthaar; valiyilae nintu uruvina pattaththaith thammutaiya kaiyilae pitiththirukkira thoothanaik kanndu, thalaikuninthu mukanguppura vilunthu panninthaan. Then the LORD opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and he bowed down his head, and fell flat on his face.

32 Karththarutaiya thoothanaanavar avanai Nnokki: nee un kaluthaiyai ithanotae moontutharam atiththathenna? Un vali enakku maaraுpaadaayirukkirathinaal, naan unakku ethiriyaakap purappattu vanthaen. And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these three times? behold, I went out to withstand thee, because thy way is perverse before me:

33 Kaluthai ennaik kanndu, intha moontu tharam enakku vilakittaு; enakku vilakaamal irunthathaanaal, ippoluthu naan unnai kontupottu, kaluthaiyai uyirotae vaippaen entar. And the ass saw me, and turned from me these three times: unless she had turned from me, surely now also I had slain thee, and saved her alive.

34 Appoluthu pilaeyaam karththarutaiya thoothanai Nnokki: naan paavanjaெythaen; valiyilae neer enakku ethiraaka nirkirathai ariyaathirunthaen; ippoluthum umathu paarvaikku ithu thakaathathaayirukkumaanaal, naan thirumpip poyvidukiraேn entan. And Balaam said unto the angel of the LORD, I have sinned; for I knew not that thou stoodest in the way against me: now therefore, if it displease thee, I will get me back again.

35 Karththarutaiya thoothanaanavar pilaeyaamai Nnokki: antha manitharotae koodappo; naan unnotae sollum vaarththaiyaimaaththiram nee sollakkadavaay entar; appatiyae pilaeyaam paalaakin pirapukkalotaekoodap ponaan. And the angel of the LORD said unto Balaam, Go with the men: but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.

36 Pilaeyaam varukirathaip paalaak kaettamaaththiraththil, kataisi ellaiyaana arnon nathiyin oraththilulla movaapin pattanamattum avanukku ethirkonndu ponaan. And when Balak heard that Balaam was come, he went out to meet him unto a city of Moab, which is in the border of Arnon, which is in the utmost coast.

37 Paalaak pilaeyaamai Nnokki: ummai alaikkumpati naan aavalotae ummidaththil aal anuppavillaiyaa? Ennidaththirku varaamal irunthathenna? Aettapirakaaramaaka ummai naan kanam pannnamaattaேnaa entan. And Balak said unto Balaam, Did I not earnestly send unto thee to call thee? wherefore camest thou not unto me? am I not able indeed to promote thee to honor?

38 Appoluthu pilaeyaam paalaakai Nnokki: itho, ummidaththirku vanthaen; aanaalum aethaakilum sollukiratharku ennaalae aakumo: Dhevan en vaayilae alikkum vaarththaiyaiyae solluvaen entan. And Balaam said unto Balak, Lo, I am come unto thee: have I now any power at all to say any thing? the word that God putteth in my mouth, that shall I speak.

39 Pilaeyaam paalaakudanaekoodap ponaan; avarkal geeriyaath oosoththil sernthaarkal. And Balaam went with Balak, and they came unto Kirjathhuzoth.

40 Angae paalaak aadumaadukalai atiththu, pilaeyaamukkum avanotiruntha pirapukkalukkum anuppinaan. And Balak offered oxen and sheep, and sent to Balaam, and to the princes that were with him.

41 Maraுnaal kaalamae paalaak pilaeyaamaik koottikkonndu, avanaip paakaalutaiya maedukalil aerappannnninaan; avvidaththilirunthu pilaeyaam janaththin kataisip paalayaththaip paarththaan. And it came to pass on the morrow, that Balak took Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of Baal, that thence he might see the utmost part of the people.
