பின்னும் அவள் கர்ப்பவதியாகி ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்று: என் புருஷனுக்கு மூன்று குமாரனைப் பெற்றபடியால் அவர் இப்பொழுது என்னோடே சேர்ந்திருப்பார் என்று சொல்லி, அவனுக்கு லேவி என்று பேரிட்டாள்.

உன்னோடே கூடிக்கொண்டு, கூடாரத்துக்கடுத்த எல்லாப் பணிவிடையையும் செய்ய, ஆசரிப்புக் கூடாரத்தின் காவலைக்காக்கக்கடவர்கள்; அந்நியன் ஒருவனும் உங்களிடத்தில் சேரக் கூடாது.

தேவனுடைய மனுஷனாகிய மோசேயின் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்திற்கு ஏற்ற தங்கள் முறைமையின்படியே தங்கள் ஸ்தானத்திலே நின்றார்கள்; ஆசாரியர் லேவியரின் கையிலிருந்து இரத்தத்தை வாங்கித்தெளித்தார்கள்.

இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரே, என்னைவிட்டு வழிதப்பிப்போகையில், என் பரிசுத்த ஸ்தலத்தின் காவலைக் காக்கிற சாதோக்கின் புத்திரராகிய லேவியர் என்னும் ஆசாரியர்களே எனக்கு ஆராதனைசெய்ய என் சமீபத்தில் சேர்ந்து, நிணத்தையும் இரத்தத்தையும் எனக்குச் செலுத்த என் சந்நிதியில் நிற்பார்களென்று கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர் சொல்லுகிறார்.
