1 And it came to the ears of the Canaanite, the king of Arad, living in the South, that Israel was coming by the way of Atharim, and he came out against them and took some of them prisoners.आरादाका कनानी राजा नेगेवमा बस्थे। उनले इस्राएली मानिसहरू अटारीमको बाटो भएर आउँदैछन् भन्ने चाल पाए। यसर्थ तिनी गएर इस्राएली मानिसहरू माथि आक्रमण गरे। तिनले केही मानिसहरूलाई पक्राऊ गरेर कैद गरे।

2 Then Israel made an oath to the Lord, and said, If you will give up this people into my hands, then I will send complete destruction on all their towns.तब इस्राएलका मानिसहरूले विशेष भाकल गरी परमप्रभुलाई पुकारेः “हे परमप्रभु, दया गरी हामीलाई यी मानिसहरूमाथि विजय गराई दिनुहोस् र हामी तिनीहरूको शहरहरू नष्ट पारी दिनेछौ।”

3 And the Lord, in answer to the voice of Israel, gave the Canaanites up to them; and they put them and their towns completely to destruction: and that place was named Hormah.परमप्रभुले इस्राएलीहरूको पुकार मान्नु भयो र कनानीहरूलाई जित्न तिनीहरूलाई सहायता गर्नु भयो। इस्राएलीहरूले तिनीहरू र तिनीहरूका शहर सम्पूर्ण ध्वंश पारे। यसर्थ त्यस ठाँउको नाम होर्मा राखियो।

4 Then they went on from Mount Hor by the way to the Red Sea, going round the land of Edom: and the spirit of the people was overcome with weariness on the way.इस्राएली मानिसहरू होर पर्वत छोडेर लाल समुद्र जाने बाटोमा हिड्न लागे। तिनीहरूले एदोम देश वरिपरि जानलाई त्यो बाटो गए। तर मानिसहरू धैर्यहीन भईसकेका थिए।

5 And crying out against God and against Moses, they said, Why have you taken us out of Egypt to come to our death in the waste land? For there is no bread and no water, and this poor bread is disgusting to us.मानिसहरूले परमेश्वर र मोशाको विरोधमा कुरा गरे। तिनीहरूले भने, “यो मरूभूमिमा मर्नुको निम्ति किन हामीलाई मिश्र देशबाट ल्याइयो? कारण यहाँ न त पानी छ न रोटी। तुच्छ खाना अथवा रोटी खाँदा खाँदा वाक्क भई सक्यो।”

6 Then the Lord sent poison-snakes among the people; and their bites were a cause of death to numbers of the people of Israel.यसर्थ परमप्रभुले मानिसहरूको माझमा विषालु सर्पहरू पठाईदिनुभयो र तिनीहरूले धेरै मानिसहरूलाई डसेर मार्यो। यसरी इस्राएलका धेरै मानिसहरू मरे।

7 Then the people came to Moses and said, We have done wrong in crying out against the Lord and against you: make prayer to the Lord to take away the snakes from us. So Moses made prayer for the people.मानिसहरू आएर मोशासंग भने, “हामी जान्दछौं परमप्रभु र तपाईंको विरोधमा बोलेर हामीले पाप गर्यौं। परमप्रभुसित प्रार्थना गरेर यी सर्पहरू फर्काउन लगाईदिनु होस्।” यसकारण मोशाले मानिसहरूको निम्ति प्रार्थना गरे।

8 And the Lord said to Moses, Make an image of a snake and put it on a rod, and anyone who has been wounded by the snakes, looking on it will be made well.परमप्रभुले मोशालाई भन्नुभयो, “काँसाको एउटा सर्प बनाऊ र खम्बा माथि राख। सर्पबाट डसिएको कुनै व्यक्तिले त्यो खम्बामाथि राखिएको काँसाको सर्पलाई हेर्छ त्यो मर्ने छैन।”

9 So Moses made a snake of brass and put it on a rod; and anyone who had a snakebite, after looking on the snake of brass, was made well.यसकारण मोशाले परमप्रभुको आज्ञा मानी एउटा काँसाको सर्प बनाई खम्बामाथि राखे। त्यसपछि जब कुनै व्यक्तिलाई सर्पले टोके उसले त्यो खम्बा माथि राखिएको काँसाको सर्पलाई हेर्थ्यो र त्यो बाँच्थ्यो।

10 Then the children of Israel went on and put up their tents in Oboth.इस्राएली मानिसहरूले त्यो ठाँउ छोडे अनि ओबोतमा छाउनी हाले।

11 And journeying on again from Oboth, they put up their tents in Iye-abarim, in the waste land before Moab looking east.त्यसपछि तिनीहरूले ओबोतबाट हिंडी मोआबको पूर्वमा रहेको मरूभूमि ऐ अबारीममा छाउनी हाले।

12 And moving on from there, they put up their tents in the valley of Zered.तिनीहरूले त्यो ठाँउ पनि छाडी जेरोद बेंसीमा छाउनी हाले।

13 From there they went on and put up their tents on the other side of the Arnon, which is on the waste land at the edge of the land of the Amorites; for the Arnon is the line of division between Moab and the Amorites:त्यहाँबाट पनि गई अर्नोन नदी पारीको मरूभूमिमा छाउनी हाले। यो नदी एमोरीहरूको सिमानाबाट शुरू हुन्थ्यो। त्यो बेंसीमा मोआब र एमोरीहरू बीचको सिमान थियो।

14 As it says in the book of the Wars of the Lord, Vaheb in Suphah, and the valley of the Amon;यसकारण परमप्रभुको युद्धको पुस्तकमा यी कुरा लेखिएका छन्।“अनि सूपामा वाहेब अनि अर्नोनको बेंसी

15 The slope of the valleys going down to the tents of Ar and touching the edge of Moab.अनि बेंसीहरूको आरको भिरालोहरू वासस्थान पट्टि जो मोआबको सिमानामा अवस्थित छन्।”

16 From there they went on to Beer, the water-spring of which the Lord said to Moses, Make the people come together and I will give them water.इस्राएलका मानिसहरू त्यस ठाँउ छाडेर बेओर तिर गए। यस ठाँउमा कूवा थियो र परमप्रभुले मोशालाई भन्नु भयो, “मानिसहरूलाई भेला गरेर ल्याऊ, म तिनीहरूलाई पानी दिनेछु।”

17 Then Israel gave voice to this song: Come up, O water-spring, let us make a song to it:तब इस्राएलका मानिसहरूले यो गीत गाए।“हे कूवा पानीसित बग्छ। यस विषयमा गीत गाओ।

18 The fountain made by the chiefs, made deep by the great ones of the people, with the law-givers' rod, and with their sticks. Then from the waste land they went on to Mattanah:महान व्यक्तिले यो कूवा खने। महान नायकहरूले यो कूवा खने। तिनीहरूले आफ्नो भारदारहरूसंग हिंड्ने लहुरोहरूले यो कूवा खने। मरूभूमिमा एउटा उपहार रहेको छ।”यसर्थ मानिसहरूले त्यो कुवाको नाम “मत्ताना” राखे।

19 And from Mattanah to Nahaliel: and from Nahaliel to Bamoth:मानिसहरू मत्तानाबाट नहलीएल गए। त्यसपछि तिनीहरू नहलीएलबाट बामोत गए।

20 And from Bamoth to the valley in the open country of Moab, and to the top of Pisgah looking over Jeshimon.बामोतबाट मानिसहरू फेरि मोआब बेंसी गए। यस ठाँउमा पिसगा पर्वतको टुप्पो मरूभूमि माथि देखिन्छ।

21 And Israel sent men to Sihon, king of the Amorites, saying,इस्राएलले आफ्नो केही मानिसहरू एमोरीहरूका राजा सीहोन कहाँ पठाए। ती मानिसहरूले राजालाई भने,

22 Let me go through your land: we will not go into field or vine-garden, or take the water of the springs; we will go by the highway till we have gone past the limits of your land.“हामीहरूलाई तपाईंहरूको देश भएर जान दिनुहोस्। हामी तपाईंको दाखबारीहरू तथा खेतमा पस्ने छैनौ, तपाईंको पोखटीबाट पानी पिउने छैनौं। जब सम्म हामी तपाईंको देशको सिमानामा पुग्दैनौं हामी मूल बाटोमा रहने छौं।”

23 And Sihon would not let Israel go through his land; but got all his people together and went out against Israel into the waste land, as far as Jahaz, to make war on Israel.तर सीहोनले इस्राएललाई तिनको राज्यको सिमाना भित्रबाट हिड्नु दिएनन् अनि आफ्ना मानिसहरूलाई भेला पारेर इस्राएललाई मरूभूमिमा आक्रमण गर्न आए। तिनी यहससम्म आए अनि इस्राएलीहरूसित लडाँई गरे।”

24 But Israel overcame him, and took all his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, as far as the country of the children of Ammon, for the country of the children of Ammon was strongly armed.तर इस्राएलीहरूले तिनलाई तरवारको टुप्पोले घोचेर मारे अनि तिनको भूमि अर्नोन नदीदेखि यब्बोक नदी सम्म कब्जा गरे। तिनीहरूले अम्मोनीहरूको सिमानासम्म मात्र लिएर रोकिए कारण अम्मोनीहरूले आफ्नो सिमाना बलियो गरी सुरक्षा गरेका थिए।

25 And Israel took all their towns, living in Heshbon and all the towns and small places of the Amorites.यसकारण इस्राएलले एमोरीहरूको सबै शहरहरू कब्जामा लिएर त्यहीं बस्न शुरू गरे। तिनीहरूले हेशबोन र त्यसको वरिपरिको साना साना शहरहरू पनि आफ्नो अधीनमा लिए।

26 For Heshbon was the town of Sihon, king of the Amorites, who had made war against an earlier king of Moab and taken from him all his land as far as the Arnon.हेशबोन त्यो शहर हो जहाँ अम्मोरीहरूका राजा सीहोन बस्थे। सीहोनले मोओबका राजासित युद्ध गरी तिनको भूमि अर्नोन नदीसम्म कब्जामा लिएका थिए।

27 So the makers of wise sayings say, Come to Heshbon, building up the town of Sihon and making it strong:यसैकारण गाइनेहरूले यो गीत गाँउछन्।तिमीहरू हेशबोन शहरमा आऊ, यो पुर्नस्थापित होस्। सीहोन शहर फेरि बनियोस्।

28 For a fire has gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the town of Sihon: for the destruction of Ar in Moab, and the lords of the high places of the Arnon.किनभने हेशबोन शहरबाट आगो शुरू भएर एउटा ज्वाला सीहोन शहरबाट शुरू भयो। यसले अर र मोआबलाई ध्वंश पार्यो। यसले अर्नोन माथिका उच्च पर्वतहरू जलायो।

29 Sorrow is yours, O Moab! Destruction is your fate, O people of Chemosh: his sons have gone in flight, and his daughters are prisoners, in the hands of Sihon, king of the Amorites.ए मोआब तँलाई धिक्कार छ। ए कमोशका प्रजाहरू हो तिमीहरू नष्ट भयौ। यसले आफ्नो छोराहरूलाई भगौटे बनाएर र छोरीहरूलाई कैद गराएर, एमोरीहरूका राजा सीहोनलाई दिएको छ।

30 They are wounded with our arrows; destruction has come on Heshbon, even to Dibon; and we have made the land waste as far as Nophah, stretching out to Medeba.तर हामीले ती एमोरीहरूलाई जितेका छौं। हेशबोन देखि दीबोनसम्मै, ध्वंश भयो, र हामीले मेदेबाको नजीक नोपा सम्म, तिनीहरूको शहरहरू नष्ट पारेका छौं।

31 So Israel put up their tents in the land of the Amorites.यसकारण इस्राएलीहरूले एमोरीहरूको भूमि दखल गरे।

32 And Moses sent men secretly to Jazer, and they took its towns, driving out the Amorites who were living there.मोशाले याजेरको शहरमा खूपियाहरू पठाए। मोशाले यसो गरे पछि इस्राएलीहरूले त्यसका वरिपरिका शहरहरू अधीनमा ल्याए अनि एमोरीहरूलाई लखेटे।

33 Then turning they went up by the way of Bashan; and Og, king of Bashan, went out against them with all his people, to the fight at Edrei.त्यसपछि इस्राएलीहरू बाशानतिर जाने बाटो लागे। बाशानका राजा ओग आफ्नो सेनाहरू लिएर इस्राएलीहरूलाई भेटन अघि बढे अनि एद्रईमा तिनीहरूसित युद्ध गरे।

34 And the Lord said to Moses, Have no fear of him: for I have given him up into your hands, with all his people and his land; do to him as you did to Sihon, king of the Amorites, at Heshbon.तर परमप्रभुले मोशालाई भन्नुभयो, “त्यो राजासित नडराऊ, म तिमीलाई जिताउनेछु। हेशबोनमा बस्ने एमोरीहरूका राजा सीहोनलाई जुन व्यवहार गरेका थियौ ओगसित पनि त्यही गर। उसको सबै सेनाहरू र भूमि अधीनमा पार।”

35 So they overcame him and his sons and his people, driving them all out: and they took his land for their heritage.यसर्थ इस्राएलीहरूले राजा ओग र उसको सेनाहरूलाई परास्त पारे अनि तिनीहरूले उसको छोराहरू, सेनाहरू तथा उसलाई पनि मारेर उसको भूमि अधीनमा लिए।
