ഹായിയിലും ബേഥേലിലും യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ പുറപ്പെടാതെ ഒരുത്തനും ശേഷിച്ചില്ല; അവർ പട്ടണം തുറന്നിട്ടേച്ചു യിസ്രായേലിനെ പിന്തുടർന്നു.

യിസ്രായേൽ തങ്ങളെ പിന്തുടർന്ന ഹായിപട്ടണക്കാരെ ഒക്കെയും വെളിൻ പ്രദേശത്തു മരുഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ചു കൊന്നുതീർക്കയും അവർ ഒട്ടൊഴിയാതെ എല്ലാവരും വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാൽ വീണൊടുങ്ങുകയും ചെയ്തശേഷം യിസ്രായേല്യർ ഒക്കെയും ഹായിയിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാൽ അതിനെ സംഹരിച്ചു.

യഹോവ മോശെയോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ അവരെ നിർമ്മൂലമാക്കുകയും കരുണകൂടാതെ നശിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്‍വാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം അവർ നെഞ്ചുറപ്പിച്ചു യിസ്രായേലിനോടു യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പുറപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നു യഹോവ സംഗതിവരുത്തിയിരുന്നു.
