Acts 12
1 ആ കാലത്തു ഹെരോദാരാജാവു സഭയിൽ ചിലരെ പീഡിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു കൈ നീട്ടി.
2 യോഹന്നാന്റെ സഹോദരനായ യാക്കോബിനെ അവൻ വാൾകൊണ്ടു കൊന്നു.
3 അതു യെഹൂദന്മാർക്കു പ്രസാദമായി എന്നു കണ്ടു അവൻ പത്രൊസിനെയും പിടിച്ചു. അപ്പോൾ പുളിപ്പില്ലാത്ത അപ്പത്തിന്റെ പെരുനാൾ ആയിരുന്നു.
4 അവനെ പിടിച്ചശേഷം പെസഹ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ജനത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ നിറുത്തുവാൻ ഭാവിച്ചു തടവിലാക്കി അവനെ കാപ്പാൻ നന്നാലു ചേവകർ ഉള്ള നാലു കൂട്ടത്തിന്നു ഏല്പിച്ചു.
5 ഇങ്ങനെ പത്രൊസിനെ തടവിൽ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവരുമ്പോൾ സഭ ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ അവന്നുവേണ്ടി ദൈവത്തോടു പ്രാർത്ഥന കഴിച്ചുപോന്നു.
1 Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.
2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)
4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.
5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
