1 When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:പുലർച്ചെക്കു മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ജനത്തിന്റെ മൂപ്പന്മാരും എല്ലാം യേശുവിനെ കൊല്ലുവാൻ കൂടിവിചാരിച്ചു,

2 And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.അവനെ ബന്ധിച്ചു കെണ്ടുപോയി നാടുവാഴിയായ പീലാത്തൊസിനെ ഏല്പിച്ചു.

3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,അവനെ ശിക്ഷെക്കു വിധിച്ചു എന്നു അവനെ കാണിച്ചുകൊടുത്ത യൂദാ കണ്ടു അനുതപിച്ചു, ആ മുപ്പതു വെള്ളിക്കാശ് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെയും മൂപ്പന്മാരുടെയും അടുക്കൽ മടക്കി കൊണ്ടുവന്നു:

4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.ഞാൻ കുററമില്ലാത്ത രക്തത്തെ കാണിച്ചുകൊടുത്തതിനാൽ പാപം ചെയ്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതു ഞങ്ങൾക്കു എന്തു? നീ തന്നേ നോക്കിക്കൊൾക എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.

5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.അവൻ ആ വെള്ളിക്കാശ് മന്ദിരത്തിൽ എറിഞ്ഞു, ചെന്നു കെട്ടിഞാന്നു ചത്തുകളഞ്ഞു.

6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാർ ആ വെള്ളിക്കാശ് എടുത്തു: ഇതു രക്തവിലയാകയാൽ ശ്രീഭണ്ഡാരത്തിൽ ഇടുന്നതു വിഹിതമല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു കൂടി ആലോചിച്ചു,

7 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.പരദേശികളെ കുഴിച്ചിടുവാൻ അതുകൊണ്ടു കുശവന്റെ നിലം വാങ്ങി.

8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.ആകയാൽ ആ നിലത്തിന്നു ഇന്നുവരെ രക്തനിലം എന്നു പേർ പറയുന്നു.

9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value;“യിസ്രായേൽമക്കൾ വിലമതിച്ചവന്റെ വിലയായ മുപ്പതു വെള്ളിക്കാശു അവർ എടുത്തു,

10 And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.കർത്താവു എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തുപോലെ കുശവന്റെ നിലത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി കൊടുത്തു.” എന്നു യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകൻ മുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതിന്നു അന്നു നിവൃത്തിവന്നു..

11 And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.എന്നാൽ യേശു നാടുവാഴിയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ നിന്നു നീ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവോ എന്നു നാടുവാഴി ചോദിച്ചു; “ഞാൻ ആകുന്നു” എന്നു യേശു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു

12 And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും മൂപ്പന്മാരും കുറ്റം ചുമത്തുകയിൽ അവൻ ഒന്നും ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞില്ല.

13 Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?പീലാത്തൊസ് അവനോടു: ഇവർ നിന്റെ നേരെ എന്തെല്ലാം സാക്ഷ്യം പറയുന്നു എന്നു കേൾക്കുന്നില്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

14 And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.അവൻ ഒരു വാക്കിന്നും ഉത്തരം പറയായ്കയാൽ നാടുവാഴി അത്യന്തം ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു.

15 Now at that feast the governor was wont to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would.എന്നാൽ ഉത്സവസമയത്തു പുരുഷാരം ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്ന ഒരു തടവുകാരനെ നാടുവാഴി വിട്ടയക്കപതിവായിരുന്നു.

16 And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.അന്നു ബറബ്ബാസ് എന്ന ശ്രുതിപ്പെട്ടോരു തടവുകാരൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

17 Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ?അവർ കൂടിവന്നപ്പോൾ പീലാത്തൊസ് അവരോടു: ബറബ്ബാസിനെയോ, ക്രിസ്തു എന്നു പറയുന്ന യേശുവിനെയോ, ആരെ നിങ്ങൾക്കു വിട്ടുതരേണം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

18 For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.അവർ അസൂയകൊണ്ടാകുന്നു അവനെ ഏല്പിച്ചതു എന്നു അവൻ ഗ്രഹിച്ചിരുന്നു.

19 When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.അവൻ ന്യായാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ ആളയച്ചു: ആ നീതിമാന്റെ കാര്യത്തിൽ ഇടപെടരുതു; അവൻ നിമിത്തം ഞാൻ ഇന്നു സ്വപ്നത്തിൽ വളരെ കഷ്ടം സഹിച്ചു എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

20 But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.എന്നാൽ ബറബ്ബാസിനെ ചോദിപ്പാനും യേശുവിനെ നശിപ്പിപ്പാനും മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും മൂപ്പന്മാരും പുരുഷാരത്തെ സമ്മതിപ്പിച്ചു.

21 The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.നാടുവാഴി അവരോടു: ഈ ഇരുവരിൽ ഏവനെ വിട്ടുതരേണമെന്നു നിങ്ങൾ ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു ബറബ്ബാസിനെ എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.

22 Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.പീലാത്തൊസ് അവരോടു: എന്നാൽ ക്രിസ്തു എന്ന യേശുവിനെ എന്തു ചെയ്യേണ്ടു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്കേണം എന്നു എല്ലാവരും പറഞ്ഞു.

23 And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.അവൻ ചെയ്ത ദോഷം എന്തു എന്നു അവൻ ചോദിച്ചു. അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്കേണം എന്നു അവർ ഏറ്റവും നിലവിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.ആരവാരം അധികമാകുന്നതല്ലാതെ ഒന്നും സാധിക്കുന്നില്ല എന്നു പീലാത്തൊസ് കണ്ടിട്ടുവെള്ളം എടുത്തു പുരുഷാരം കാൺകെ കൈ കഴുകി: ഈ നീതിമാന്റെ രക്തത്തിൽ എനിക്കു കുറ്റം ഇല്ല; നിങ്ങൾ തന്നേ നോക്കിക്കൊൾവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.അവന്റെ രക്തം ഞങ്ങളുടെമേലും ഞങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളുടെ മേലും വരട്ടെ എന്നു ജനം ഒക്കെയും ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

26 Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.അങ്ങനെ അവൻ ബറബ്ബാസിനെ അവർക്കു വിട്ടുകൊടുത്തു, യേശുവിനെ ചമ്മട്ടി കൊണ്ടടിപ്പിച്ചു ക്രൂശിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഏല്പിച്ചു.

27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.അനന്തരം നാടുവാഴിയുടെ പടയാളികൾ യേശുവിനെ ആസ്ഥാനത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി പട്ടാളത്തെ എല്ലാം അവന്റെ നേരെ വരുത്തി,

28 And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രം അഴിച്ചു ഒരു ചുവന്ന മേലങ്കി ധരപ്പിച്ചു.

29 And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!മുള്ളുകൊണ്ടു ഒരു കിരീടം മെടഞ്ഞു അവന്റെ തലയിൽ വെച്ചു, വലങ്കയ്യിൽ ഒരു കോലും കൊടുത്തു അവന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ മുട്ടുകുത്തി: യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവേ, ജയജയ എന്നു പരിഹസിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

30 And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.പിന്നെ അവന്റെമേൽ തുപ്പി, കോൽ എടുത്തു അവന്റെ തലയിൽ അടിച്ചു.

31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.അവനെ പരിഹസിച്ചുതീർന്നപ്പോൾ മേലങ്കി നീക്കി അവന്റെ സ്വന്തവസ്ത്രം ധരിപ്പിച്ചു, ക്രൂശിപ്പാൻ കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.അവർ പോകുമ്പോൾ ശീമോൻ എന്നു പേരുള്ള കുറേനക്കാരനെ കണ്ടു, അവന്റെ ക്രൂശ് ചുമപ്പാൻ നിർബന്ധിച്ചു.

33 And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull,തലയോടിടം എന്നർത്ഥമുള്ള ഗൊല്ഗോഥാ എന്ന സ്ഥലത്തു എത്തിയപ്പോൾ അവന്നു കൈപ്പു കലക്കിയ വീഞ്ഞു കുടിപ്പാൻ കൊടുത്തു;

34 They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.അതു രുചിനോക്കിയാറെ അവന്നു കുടിപ്പാൻ മനസ്സായില്ല.

35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.അവനെ ക്രൂശിൽ തറെച്ചശേഷം അവർ ചീട്ടിട്ടു അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രം പകുത്തെടുത്തു,

36 And sitting down they watched him there;അവിടെ ഇരുന്നുകൊണ്ടു അവനെ കാത്തു.

37 And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവായ യേശു എന്നു അവന്റെ കുറ്റസംഗതി എഴുതി അവന്റെ തലെക്കുമീതെ വെച്ചു.

38 Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.വലത്തും ഇടത്തുമായി രണ്ടു കള്ളന്മാരെയും അവനോടു കൂടെ ക്രൂശിച്ചു.

39 And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,കടന്നുപോകുന്നുവർ തല കലുക്കി അവനെ ദുഷിച്ചു:

40 And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.മന്ദിരം പൊളിച്ചു മൂന്നു നാൾ കൊണ്ടു പണിയുന്നവനേ, നിന്നെത്തന്നേ രക്ഷിക്ക; ദൈവപുത്രൻ എങ്കിൽ ക്രൂശിൽ നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

41 Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും മൂപ്പന്മാരും പരിഹസിച്ചു:

42 He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.ഇവൻ മറ്റുള്ളവരെ രക്ഷിച്ചു, തന്നെത്താൻ രക്ഷിപ്പാൻ കഴികയില്ല; അവൻ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ രാജാവു ആകുന്നു എങ്കിൽ ഇപ്പോൾ ക്രൂശിൽനിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവരട്ടെ; എന്നാൽ ഞങ്ങൾ അവനിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കും.

43 He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.അവൻ ദൈവത്തിൽ ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നു; അവന്നു ഇവനിൽ പ്രസാദമുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ ഇപ്പോൾ വിടുവിക്കട്ടെ; ഞാൻ ദൈവപുത്രൻ എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

44 The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ അവനോടുകൂടെ ക്രൂശിച്ചിരുന്ന കള്ളന്മാരും അവനെ നിന്ദിച്ചു.

45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.ആറാംമണി നേരംമുതൽ ഒമ്പതാംമണി നേരംവരെ ദേശത്തു എല്ലാം ഇരുട്ടുണ്ടായി.

46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?ഏകദേശം ഒമ്പതാംമണി നേരത്തു യേശു: “ഏലീ, ഏലീ, ലമ്മാ ശബക്താനി” എന്നു ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചു; “എന്റെ ദൈവമേ, എന്റെ ദൈവമേ, നീ എന്നെ കൈവിട്ടതു എന്തു” എന്നർത്ഥം.

47 Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.അവിടെ നിന്നിരുന്നവരിൽ ചിലർ അതു കേട്ടിട്ടു; അവൻ ഏലീയാവെ വിളിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

48 And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.ഉടനെ അവരിൽ ഒരുത്തൻ ഓടി ഒരു സ്പോങ്ങ് എടുത്തു പുളിച്ച വീഞ്ഞു നിറെച്ചു ഓടത്തണ്ടിന്മേൽ ആക്കി അവന്നു കുടിപ്പാൻ കൊടുത്തു.

49 The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.ശേഷമുള്ളവർ: നിൽക്ക; ഏലീയാവു അവനെ രക്ഷിപ്പാൻ വരുമോ എന്നു നോക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.യേശു പിന്നെയും ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചു പ്രാണനെ വിട്ടു.

51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;അപ്പോൾ മന്ദിരത്തിലെ തിരശ്ശില മേൽതൊട്ടു അടിയോളം രണ്ടായി ചീന്തിപ്പോയി;

52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,ഭൂമി കുലുങ്ങി, പാറകൾ പിളർന്നു, കല്ലറകൾ തുറന്നു, നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ച വിശുദ്ധന്മാരുടെ ശരീരങ്ങൾ പലതും ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേറ്റു

53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.അവന്റെ പുനരുത്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ ശേഷം കല്ലറകളെ വിട്ടു, വിശുദ്ധനഗരത്തിൽ ചെന്നു പലർക്കും പ്രത്യക്ഷമായി.

54 Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.ശതാധിപനും അവനോടുകൂടെ യേശുവിനെ കാത്തുനിന്നവരും ഭൂകമ്പം മുതലായി സംഭവിച്ചതു കണ്ടിട്ടു: അവൻ ദൈവ പുത്രൻ ആയിരുന്നു സത്യം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ഏറ്റവും ഭയപ്പെട്ടു.

55 And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him:ഗലീലയിൽ നിന്നു യേശുവിനെ ശുശ്രൂഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു അനുഗമിച്ചുവന്ന പല സ്ത്രീകളും ദൂരത്തുനിന്നു നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

56 Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedees children.അവരിൽ മഗ്ദലക്കാരത്തി മറിയയും യാക്കോബിന്റെയും യോസെയുടെയും അമ്മയായ മറിയയും സെബെദിപുത്രന്മാരുടെ അമ്മയും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

57 When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:സന്ധ്യയായപ്പോൾ അരിമഥ്യക്കാരനായ യോസേഫ് എന്ന ധനവാൻ താനും യേശുവിന്റെ ശിഷ്യനായിരിക്കയാൽ വന്നു,

58 He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.പീലാത്തൊസിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു യേശുവിന്റെ ശരീരം ചോദിച്ചു; പീലത്തൊസ് അതു ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുപ്പാൻ കല്പിച്ചു.

59 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,യോസേഫ് ശരീരം എടുത്തു നിർമ്മലശീലയിൽ പൊതിഞ്ഞു,

60 And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.താൻ പാറയിൽ വെട്ടിച്ചിരുന്ന തന്റെ പുതിയ കല്ലറയിൽ വെച്ചു കല്ലറയുടെ വാതിൽക്കൽ ഒരു വലിയ കല്ലു ഉരുട്ടിവെച്ചിട്ടു പോയി.

61 And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.കല്ലറെക്കു എതിരെ മഗ്ദലക്കാരത്തി മറിയയും മറ്റെ മറിയയും ഇരുന്നിരുന്നു.

62 Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,ഒരുക്കനാളിന്റെ പിറ്റെ ദിവസം മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും പരീശന്മാരും പീലാത്തൊസിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നുകൂടി:

63 Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.യജമാനനേ, ആ ചതിയൻ ജീവനോടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ: മൂന്നുനാൾ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ഞാൻ ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേല്ക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞപ്രകാരം ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ഓർമ്മ വന്നു.

64 Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.അതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ ചെന്നു അവനെ മോഷ്ടിച്ചിട്ടു, അവൻ മരിച്ചവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ നിന്നു ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേറ്റു എന്നു ജനത്തോടു പറകയും ഒടുവിലത്തെ ചതിവു മുമ്പിലത്തേതിലും വിഷമമായിത്തീരുകയും ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു മൂന്നാം നാൾവരെ കല്ലറ ഉറപ്പാക്കുവാൻ കല്പിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

65 Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.പീലാത്തൊസ് അവരോടു: കാവൽക്കൂട്ടത്തെ തരാം; പോയി നിങ്ങളാൽ ആകുന്നെടത്തോളം ഉറപ്പുവരുത്തുവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

66 So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.അവർ ചെന്നു കല്ലിന്നു മുദ്രവെച്ചു കാവൽക്കൂട്ടത്തെ നിറുത്തി കല്ലറ ഉറപ്പാക്കി.
