1 And it cometh to pass, at Jehovah's taking up Elijah in a whirlwind to the heavens, that Elijah goeth, and Elisha, from Gilgal,യഹോവ ഏലീയാവെ ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റിൽ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലേക്കു എടുത്തുകൊൾവാൻ ഭാവിച്ചിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഏലീയാവു എലീശയോടു കൂടെ ഗിൽഗാലിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു.

2 and Elijah saith unto Elisha, `Abide, I pray thee, here, for Jehovah hath sent me unto Beth-El;' and Elisha saith, `Jehovah liveth, and thy soul liveth, if I leave thee;' and they go down to Beth-El.ഏലീയാവു എലീശയോടു: നീ ഇവിടെ താമസിച്ചു കൊൾക: യഹോവ എന്നെ ബേഥേലിലേക്കു അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എലീശാ അവനോടു: യഹോവയാണ, നിന്റെ ജീവനാണ, ഞാൻ നിന്നെ വിടുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവർ ബേഥേലിലേക്കു പോയി.

3 And sons of the prophets who `are' in Beth-El come out unto Elisha, and say unto him, `Hast thou known that to-day Jehovah is taking thy lord from thy head?' and he saith, `I also have known -- keep silent.'ബേഥേലിലെ പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യന്മാർ എലീശയുടെ അടുക്കൽ പുറത്തുവന്നു അവനോടു: യഹോവ ഇന്നു നിന്റെ യജമാനനെ നിന്റെ തലെക്കൽനിന്നു എടുത്തുകൊള്ളും എന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു അവൻ: അതേ, ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു; നിങ്ങൾ മിണ്ടാതിരിപ്പിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4 And Elijah saith to him, `Elisha, abide, I pray thee, here, for Jehovah hath sent me to Jericho;' and he saith, `Jehovah liveth, and thy soul liveth, if I leave thee;' and they come in to Jericho.ഏലീയാവു അവനോടു: എലീശയേ, നീ ഇവിടെ താമസിച്ചുകൊൾക; യഹോവ എന്നെ യെരീഹോവിലേക്കു അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവൻ: യഹോവയാണ, നിന്റെ ജീവനാണ, ഞാൻ നിന്നെ വിടുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവർ യെരീഹോവിലേക്കു പോയി.

5 And sons of the prophets who `are' in Jericho come nigh unto Elisha, and say unto him, `Hast thou known that to-day Jehovah is taking thy lord from thy head?' and he saith, `I also have known -- keep silent.'യെരീഹോവിലെ പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യന്മാർ എലീശയുടെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു അവനോടു: യഹോവ ഇന്നു നിന്റെ യജമാനനെ നിന്റെ തലെക്കൽനിന്നു എടുത്തുകൊള്ളും എന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു; അതിന്നു അവൻ: അതേ, ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു; നിങ്ങൾ മിണ്ടാതിരിപ്പിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6 And Elijah saith to him, `Abide, I pray thee, here, for Jehovah hath sent me to the Jordan;' and he saith, `Jehovah liveth, and thy soul liveth, if I leave thee;' and they go on both of them,ഏലീയാവു അവനോടു: നീ ഇവിടെ താമസിച്ചുകൊൾക; യഹോവ എന്നെ യോർദ്ദാങ്കലേക്കു അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അതിന്നു അവൻ യഹോവയാണ, നിന്റെ ജീവനാണ, ഞാൻ നിന്നെ വിടുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവർ ഇരുവരുംകൂടെ പോയി.

7 -- and fifty men of the sons of the prophets have gone on, and stand over-against afar off -- and both of them have stood by the Jordan.പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യന്മാരിൽ അമ്പതുപേർ ചെന്നു അവർക്കെതിരെ ദൂരത്തു നിന്നു; അവർ ഇരുവരും യോർദ്ദാന്നരികെ നിന്നു.

8 And Elijah taketh his robe, and wrappeth `it' together, and smiteth the waters, and they are halved, hither and thither, and they pass over both of them on dry land.അപ്പോൾ ഏലീയാവു തന്റെ പുതപ്പു എടുത്തു മടക്കി വെള്ളത്തെ അടിച്ചു; അതു അങ്ങോട്ടും ഇങ്ങോട്ടും പിരിഞ്ഞു; അങ്ങനെ അവർ ഇരുവരും ഉണങ്ങിയ നിലത്തുകൂടി അക്കരെക്കു കടന്നു.

9 And it cometh to pass, at their passing over, that Elijah hath said unto Elisha, `Ask, what do I do for thee before I am taken from thee?' and Elisha saith, `Then let there be, I pray thee, a double portion of thy spirit unto me;'അവർ അക്കരെ കടന്നശേഷം ഏലീയാവു എലീശയോടു: ഞാൻ നിങ്കൽനിന്നു എടുത്തുകൊള്ളപ്പെടുംമുമ്പെ ഞാൻ നിനക്കു എന്തു ചെയ്തു തരേണം? ചോദിച്ചുകൊൾക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു എലീശാ: നിന്റെ ആത്മാവിൽ ഇരട്ടി പങ്കു എന്റെമേൽ വരുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10 and he saith, `Thou hast asked a hard thing; if thou dost see me taken from thee, it is to thee so; and if not, it is not.'അതിന്നു അവൻ: നീ പ്രയാസമുള്ള കാര്യമാകുന്നു ചോദിച്ചതു; ഞാൻ നിങ്കൽനിന്നു എടുത്തുകൊള്ളപ്പെടുമ്പോൾ നീ എന്നെ കാണുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ നിനക്കു അങ്ങനെ ഉണ്ടാകും; അല്ലെന്നുവരികിൽ ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11 And it cometh to pass, they are going, going on and speaking, and lo, a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and they separate between them both, and Elijah goeth up in a whirlwind, to the heavens.അവർ സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു നടക്കുമ്പോൾ അഗ്നിരഥവും അഗ്ന്യശ്വങ്ങളും വന്നു അവരെ തമ്മിൽ വേർപിരിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ ഏലീയാവു ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റിൽ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലേക്കു കയറി.

12 And Elisha is seeing, and he is crying, `My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and its horsemen;' and he hath not seen him again; and he taketh hold on his garments, and rendeth them into two pieces.എലീശാ അതു കണ്ടിട്ടു: എന്റെ പിതാവേ, എന്റെ പിതാവേ, യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ തേരും തേരാളികളും എന്നു നിലവിളിച്ചു, പിന്നെ അവനെ കണ്ടില്ല; അപ്പോൾ അവൻ തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം പിടിച്ചു രണ്ടു ഖണ്ഡമായി കീറിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

13 And he taketh up the robe of Elijah, that fell from off him, and turneth back and standeth on the edge of the Jordan,പിന്നെ അവൻ ഏലീയാവിന്മേൽനിന്നു വീണ പുതപ്പു എടുത്തു മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു യോർദ്ദാന്നരികെ നിന്നു.

14 and he taketh the robe of Elijah that fell from off him, and smiteth the waters, and saith, `Where `is' Jehovah, God of Elijah -- even He?' and he smiteth the waters, and they are halved, hither and thither, and Elisha passeth over.ഏലീയാവിന്മേൽനിന്നു വീണ പുതപ്പുകൊണ്ടു അവൻ വെള്ളത്തെ അടിച്ചു: ഏലീയാവിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ എവിടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവൻ വെള്ളത്തെ അടിച്ചപ്പോൾ അതു അങ്ങോട്ടും ഇങ്ങോട്ടും പിരിഞ്ഞു. എലീശാ ഇക്കരെക്കു കടന്നു.

15 And they see him -- the sons of the prophets who `are' in Jericho -- over-against, and they say, `Rested hath the spirit of Elijah on Elisha;' and they come to meet him, and bow themselves to him to the earth,യെരീഹോവിൽ അവന്നെതിരെ നിന്നിരുന്നു പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യന്മാർ അവനെ കണ്ടിട്ടു: ഏലീയാവിന്റെ ആത്മാവു എലീശയുടെ മേൽ അധിവസിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ എതിരേറ്റുചെന്നു അവന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു.

16 and say unto him, `Lo, we pray thee, there are with thy servants fifty men, sons of valour: let them go, we pray thee, and they seek thy lord, lest the Spirit of Jehovah hath taken him up, and doth cast him on one of the hills, or into one of the valleys;' and he saith, `Ye do not send.'അവർ അവനോടു: ഇതാ, അടിയങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ അമ്പതു ബലശാലികൾ ഉണ്ടു; അവർ ചെന്നു നിന്റെ യജമാനനെ അന്വേഷിക്കട്ടെ; പക്ഷേ യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു അവനെ എടുത്തു വല്ല മലയിലോ താഴ്വരയിലോ എങ്ങാനും ഇട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടായിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവൻ: നിങ്ങൾ അയക്കരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

17 And they press upon him, till he is ashamed, and he saith, `Send ye;' and they send fifty men, and they seek three days, and have not found him;അവർ അവനെ അത്യന്തം നിർബ്ബന്ധിച്ചപ്പോൾ അവൻ: എന്നാൽ അയച്ചുകൊൾവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവർ അമ്പതുപേരെ അയച്ചു; അവർ മൂന്നുദിവസം അന്വേഷിച്ചിട്ടും അവനെ കണ്ടെത്തിയില്ല.

18 and they turn back unto him -- and he is abiding in Jericho -- and he saith unto them, `Did I not say unto you, Do not go?'അവൻ യെരീഹോവിൽ പാർത്തിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവർ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ മടങ്ങിവന്നു; അവൻ അവരോടു: പോകരുതു എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞില്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19 And the men of the city say unto Elisha, `Lo, we pray thee, the site of the city `is' good, as my lord seeth, and the waters `are' bad, and the earth sterile.'അനന്തരം ആ പട്ടണക്കാർ എലീശയോടു: ഈ പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ ഇരിപ്പു മനോഹരമായതെന്നു യജമാനൻ കാണുന്നുവല്ലോ; എന്നാൽ വെള്ളം ചീത്തയും ദേശം ഗർഭനാശകവും ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20 And he saith, `Bring to me a new dish, and place there salt;' and they bring `it' unto him,അതിന്നു അവൻ: ഒരു പുതിയ തളിക കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അതിൽ ഉപ്പു ഇടുവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവർ അതു അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

21 and he goeth out unto the source of the waters, and casteth there salt, and saith, `Thus said Jehovah, I have given healing to these waters; there is not thence any more death and sterility.'അവൻ നീരുറവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു അതിൽ ഉപ്പു ഇട്ടു. ഞാൻ ഈ വെള്ളം പഥ്യമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇനി ഇതിനാൽ മരണവും ഗർഭനാശവും ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22 And the waters are healed unto this day, according to the word of Elisha, that he spake.എലീശാ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ആ വെള്ളം ഇന്നുവരെ പഥ്യമായിത്തന്നേ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

23 And he goeth up thence to Beth-El, and he is going up in the way, and little youths have come out from the city, and scoff at him, and say to him, `Go up, bald-head! go up, bald-head!'പിന്നെ അവൻ അവിടെനിന്നു ബേഥേലിലേക്കു പോയി; അവൻ വഴിയിൽ നടക്കുമ്പോൾ ബാലന്മാർ പട്ടണത്തിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു വന്നു അവനെ പരിഹസിച്ചു അവനോടു: മൊട്ടത്തലയാ, കയറി വാ; മൊട്ടത്തലയാ, കയറി വാ; എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

24 And he looketh behind him, and seeth them, and declareth them vile in the name of Jehovah, and two bears come out of the forest, and rend of them forty and two lads.അവൻ പിന്നോക്കം തിരിഞ്ഞു അവനെ നോക്കി യഹോവനാമത്തിൽ അവരെ ശപിച്ചു; അപ്പോൾ കാട്ടിൽനിന്നു രണ്ടു പെൺകരടി ഇറങ്ങിവന്നു അവരിൽ നാല്പത്തിരണ്ടു ബാലന്മാരെ കീറിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

25 And he goeth thence unto the hill of Carmel, and thence he hath turned back to Samaria.അവൻ അവിടംവിട്ടു കർമ്മേൽപർവ്വതത്തിലേക്കു പോയി; അവിടെനിന്നു ശമർയ്യയിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോന്നു.
