1 Samuel 19
1 അനന്തരം ശൌൽ തന്റെ മകനായ യോനാഥാനോടും സകല ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടും ദാവീദിനെ കൊല്ലേണം എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.
2 എങ്കിലും ശൌലിന്റെ മകനായ യോനാഥാന്നു ദാവീദിനോടു വളരെ ഇഷ്ടമായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു യോനാഥാൻ ദാവീദിനോടു: എന്റെ അപ്പനായ ശൌൽ നിന്നെ കൊല്ലുവാൻ നോക്കുന്നു; ആകയാൽ നീ രാവിലെ സൂക്ഷിച്ചു ഗൂഢമായോരു സ്ഥലത്തു ഒളിച്ചുപാർക്ക.
3 ഞാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു നീ ഇരിക്കുന്ന വയലിൽ എന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ അടുക്കൽ നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു എന്റെ അപ്പനോടു സംസാരിക്കും; ഞാൻ ഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നതു നിന്നെ അറിയിക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
4 അങ്ങനെ യോനാഥാൻ തന്റെ അപ്പനായ ശൌലിനോടു ദാവീദിനെക്കുറിച്ചു ഗുണമായി സംസാരിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞതു: രാജാവു തന്റെ ഭൃത്യനായ ദാവീദിനോടു ദോഷം ചെയ്യരുതേ; അവൻ നിന്നോടു ദോഷം ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല; അവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികൾ നിനക്കു ഏറ്റവും ഗുണകരമായിരുന്നതേയുള്ളു.
5 അവൻ തന്റെ ജീവനെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടല്ലോ ആ ഫെലിസ്ത്യനെ സംഹരിക്കയും അങ്ങനെ യഹോവ എല്ലാ യിസ്രായേലിന്നും വലിയോരു രക്ഷവരുത്തുകയും ചെയ്തതു; നീ അതു കണ്ടു സന്തോഷിച്ചു. ആകയാൽ നീ വെറുതെ ദാവീദിനെ കൊന്നു കുറ്റമില്ലാത്ത രക്തം ചൊരിഞ്ഞു പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു?
6 യോനാഥാന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടു: യഹോവയാണ അവനെ കൊല്ലുകയില്ല എന്നു ശൌൽ സത്യം ചെയ്തു.
7 പിന്നെ യോനാഥാൻ ദാവീദിനെ വിളിച്ചു കാര്യമെല്ലാം അറിയിച്ചു. യോനാഥാൻ ദാവീദിനെ ശൌലിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവൻ മുമ്പിലത്തെപ്പോലെ അവന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽനിൽക്കയും ചെയ്തു.
1 And Saul spake to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that they should kill David.
2 But Jonathan Saul’s son delighted much in David: and Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeketh to kill thee: now therefore, I pray thee, take heed to thyself until the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thyself:
3 And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art, and I will commune with my father of thee; and what I see, that I will tell thee.
4 And Jonathan spake good of David unto Saul his father, and said unto him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; because he hath not sinned against thee, and because his works have been to thee-ward very good:
5 For he did put his life in his hand, and slew the Philistine, and the Lord wrought a great salvation for all Israel: thou sawest it, and didst rejoice: wherefore then wilt thou sin against innocent blood, to slay David without a cause?
6 And Saul hearkened unto the voice of Jonathan: and Saul sware, As the Lord liveth, he shall not be slain.
7 And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan shewed him all those things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as in times past.

3 ഞാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു നീ ഇരിക്കുന്ന വയലിൽ എന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ അടുക്കൽ നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു എന്റെ അപ്പനോടു സംസാരിക്കും; ഞാൻ ഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നതു നിന്നെ അറിയിക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art, and I will commune with my father of thee; and what I see, that I will tell thee.
