ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾಗ ಸಬ್ಬತ್ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಟ್ಟಿಗೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸುವ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ಕಂಡರು.

ಆರು ದಿನಗಳು ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ಆದರೆ ಏಳನೆಯ ದಿನವು ನಿಮಗೆ ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧದಿನವಾಗಿಯೂ ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ವಿಶ್ರಾಂತಿಯ ಸಬ್ಬತ್ತಾಗಿಯೂ ಇರಬೇಕು. ಆ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುವವನು ಕೊಲ್ಲಲ್ಪಡಬೇಕು.

ಏಳನೆಯ ದಿನ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ಕೂಡಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಗೆ ಹೋದಾಗ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ಹೀಗಿರುವದರಿಂದ ನೀವು ಸಬ್ಬತ್ತನ್ನು ಕೈಕೊಳ್ಳ ಬೇಕು, ಅದು ನಿಮಗೆ ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧವಾದದ್ದು. ಅದನ್ನು ಅಪವಿತ್ರಮಾಡುವ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನು ಖಂಡಿತವಾಗಿ ಸಾಯಬೇಕು. ಆ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರಾದರೂ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಜನರೊಳಗಿಂದ ತೆಗೆದು ಹಾಕಬೇಕು.
