ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನು ಒಂದೊಂದು ಕೊಂಬೆ ಯನ್ನು ಕಡಿದು ಅಬೀಮೆಲೆಕನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಆ ಭದ್ರವಾದ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹಾಕಿ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆಂಕಿಯನ್ನು ಹಚ್ಚಿದರು. ಆಗ ಶೆಕೆಮಿನ ಗೋಪುರ ದಲ್ಲಿರುವವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಸಾವಿರ ಸ್ತ್ರೀ ಪುರುಷರು ಸತ್ತರು.
