ಆಗ ನೆತನ್ಯನ ಮಗನಾದ ಇಷ್ಮಾಯೇಲನು ತನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ಹತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಸಹಿತವಾಗಿ ಎದ್ದು ಬಾಬೆಲಿನ ಅರಸನು ದೇಶದ ಮೇಲೆ ನೇಮಿಸಿದ್ದ ಶಾಫಾನನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಹೀಕಾಮನ ಮಗನಾದ ಗೆದಲ್ಯನನ್ನು ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆದು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿ ದರು.

ಯೆರೆವಿಾಯನು ಇನ್ನು ಹಿಂತಿ ರುಗದೆ ಇರುವಾಗ ನೆಬೂಜರದಾನನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇ ನಂದರೆ--ಬಾಬೆಲಿನ ಅರಸನು ಯೆಹೂದದ ಪಟ್ಟಣ ಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿ ಇಟ್ಟ ಶಾಫಾನನ ಮಗ ನಾದ ಅಹೀಕಾಮನ ಮಗನಾದ ಗೆದಲ್ಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿಕೋ, ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಜನರೊಳಗೆ ವಾಸ ಮಾಡು; ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನಿನಗೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಕಾಣುತ್ತದೋ ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗು ಅಂದನು. ಆಗ ಕಾವಲಿನವರ ಅಧಿಪತಿಯು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನೂ ಬಹುಮಾನವನ್ನೂ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟನು.

ಹೌದು, ನನ್ನ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ತಿಂದಂಥ, ನಾನು ಭರವಸವಿಟ್ಟಂಥ, ನನ್ನ ಆಪ್ತ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನು ನನಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಕಾಲನ್ನು ಅಡ್ಡಗೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆ.

ಆಗ ಸೀಮೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸೈನ್ಯಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳೆಲಾ ಅವರೂ ತಮ್ಮ ಮನುಷ್ಯರೂ ಬಾಬೆಲಿನ ಅರಸನು ಅಹೀಕಾಮನ ಮಗನಾದ ಗೆದಲ್ಯನನ್ನು ದೇಶದ ಮೇಲೆ ನೇಮಿಸಿದನೆಂದು ಬಾಬೆಲಿಗೆ ಒಯ್ಯಲ್ಪಡದೆ ಇದ್ದ ಗಂಡ ಸರನ್ನೂ ಹೆಂಗಸರನ್ನೂ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನೂ ದೇಶದ ಬಡವ ರನ್ನೂ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿದ್ದನೆಂದು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ;
