Jeremiah 14
1 ಕ್ಷಾಮವನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಯೆರೆವಿಾಯನಿಗೆ ಉಂಟಾದ ಕರ್ತನ ವಾಕ್ಯವು.
2 ಯೆಹೂ ದವು ದುಃಖಪಡುತ್ತದೆ, ಅದರ ಬಾಗಿಲುಗಳು ಕುಂದಿ ಹೋಗುತ್ತವೆ, ನೆಲದ ವರೆಗೆ ಕಪ್ಪಾಗಿವೆ; ಯೆರೂಸಲೇ ಮಿನ ಕೂಗು ಏರಿ ಬಂತು.
3 ಅವರ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠರು ತಮ್ಮ ಚಿಕ್ಕವರನ್ನು ನೀರಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ; ಇವರು ಬಾವಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತಾರೆ; ಆದರೆ ನೀರು ಸಿಕ್ಕಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಬರೀ ಪಾತ್ರೆಗಳುಳ್ಳ ವರಾಗಿ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ; ಅವರು ನಾಚಿಕೆಪಟ್ಟು ದಿಗ್ಭ್ರಮೆಗೊಂಡವರಾಗಿ ತಮ್ಮ ತಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿ ಕೊಂಡರು.
4 ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಳೆ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಕಾರಣ ಭೂಮಿಯು ಬಿರುಕುಬಿಟ್ಟಿದೆ. ಒಕ್ಕಲಿಗರು ನಾಚಿಕೆ ಯಿಂದ ತಮ್ಮ ತಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡರು.
5 ಹೌದು, ಜಿಂಕೆಯು ಸಹ ಹೊಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಈದು ಹುಲ್ಲು ಇಲ್ಲದ ಕಾರಣ ಅದನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಬಿಡುತ್ತದೆ;
6 ಕಾಡು ಕತ್ತೆಗಳು ಉನ್ನತ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತು ನರಿಗಳ ಹಾಗೆ ಗಾಳಿಯನ್ನು ಹೀರಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತವೆ; ಹುಲ್ಲು ಇಲ್ಲದ ಕಾರಣ ಅವುಗಳ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಕ್ಷೀಣವಾಗುತ್ತವೆ.
7 ಓ ಕರ್ತನೇ, ನಮ್ಮ ಅಕ್ರಮಗಳು ನಮಗೆ ವಿರೋಧ ವಾಗಿ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಕೊಟ್ಟರೂ ನೀನೇ ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಸರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ನಡಿಸು; ನಮ್ಮ ಹಿಂಜರಿಯುವಿಕೆಗಳು ಅನೇಕವಾಗಿವೆ; ನಿನಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಪಾಪಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ.
8 ಓ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಣೆಯೇ, ಇಕ್ಕಟ್ಟಿನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವಾತನೇ, ನೀನು ಯಾಕೆ ದೇಶದಲಿ ಅನ್ಯನ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಕಳೆಯುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಇಳು ಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಸ್ಥನ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ಇರಬೇಕು?
9 ನೀನು ಯಾಕೆ ಗಾಬರಿಪಡುವ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಲಾರದ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಯ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ಇರಬೇಕು? ಆದರೂ ನೀನು, ಓ ಕರ್ತನೇ, ನಮ್ಮ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದೀ, ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಸರಿನಿಂದ ನಾವು ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇವೆ; ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕೈ ಬಿಡಬೇಡ.

2 Judah mourneth, and the gates thereof languish; they are black unto the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up.
3 And their nobles have sent their little ones to the waters: they came to the pits, and found no water; they returned with their vessels empty; they were ashamed and confounded, and covered their heads.
4 Because the ground is chapt, for there was no rain in the earth, the plowmen were ashamed, they covered their heads.
5 Yea, the hind also calved in the field, and forsook it, because there was no grass.
6 And the wild asses did stand in the high places, they snuffed up the wind like dragons; their eyes did fail, because there was no grass.
7 O Lord, though our iniquities testify against us, do thou it for thy name’s sake: for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against thee.
8 O the hope of Israel, the saviour thereof in time of trouble, why shouldest thou be as a stranger in the land, and as a wayfaring man that turneth aside to tarry for a night?
9 Why shouldest thou be as a man astonied, as a mighty man that cannot save? yet thou, O Lord, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name; leave us not.

The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah concerning the dearth.

4 ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಳೆ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಕಾರಣ ಭೂಮಿಯು ಬಿರುಕುಬಿಟ್ಟಿದೆ. ಒಕ್ಕಲಿಗರು ನಾಚಿಕೆ ಯಿಂದ ತಮ್ಮ ತಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡರು.

5 ಹೌದು, ಜಿಂಕೆಯು ಸಹ ಹೊಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಈದು ಹುಲ್ಲು ಇಲ್ಲದ ಕಾರಣ ಅದನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಬಿಡುತ್ತದೆ;

6 ಕಾಡು ಕತ್ತೆಗಳು ಉನ್ನತ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತು ನರಿಗಳ ಹಾಗೆ ಗಾಳಿಯನ್ನು ಹೀರಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತವೆ; ಹುಲ್ಲು ಇಲ್ಲದ ಕಾರಣ ಅವುಗಳ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಕ್ಷೀಣವಾಗುತ್ತವೆ.

7 ಓ ಕರ್ತನೇ, ನಮ್ಮ ಅಕ್ರಮಗಳು ನಮಗೆ ವಿರೋಧ ವಾಗಿ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಕೊಟ್ಟರೂ ನೀನೇ ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಸರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ನಡಿಸು; ನಮ್ಮ ಹಿಂಜರಿಯುವಿಕೆಗಳು ಅನೇಕವಾಗಿವೆ; ನಿನಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಪಾಪಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ.
O Lord, though our iniquities testify against us, do thou it for thy name’s sake: for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against thee.
8 ಓ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಣೆಯೇ, ಇಕ್ಕಟ್ಟಿನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವಾತನೇ, ನೀನು ಯಾಕೆ ದೇಶದಲಿ ಅನ್ಯನ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಕಳೆಯುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಇಳು ಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಸ್ಥನ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ಇರಬೇಕು?
O the hope of Israel, the saviour thereof in time of trouble, why shouldest thou be as a stranger in the land, and as a wayfaring man that turneth aside to tarry for a night?
9 ನೀನು ಯಾಕೆ ಗಾಬರಿಪಡುವ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಲಾರದ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಯ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ಇರಬೇಕು? ಆದರೂ ನೀನು, ಓ ಕರ್ತನೇ, ನಮ್ಮ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದೀ, ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಸರಿನಿಂದ ನಾವು ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇವೆ; ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕೈ ಬಿಡಬೇಡ.
Why shouldest thou be as a man astonied, as a mighty man that cannot save? yet thou, O Lord, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name; leave us not.
