19 ಜೀಫ್ಯರು ಗಿಬೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಸೌಲನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದುದಾವೀದನು ನಮ್ಮ ಪಕ್ಷವಾಗಿಯೇ ಯೆಷಿಮೋನಿನ ದಕ್ಷಿಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಕೀಲಾ ಗುಡ್ಡದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಘೋರಾರಣ್ಯ ದಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅಡಗಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನಲ್ಲವೇ?
20 ಅರಸನೇ, ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣದ ಇಚ್ಛೆ ಇದ್ದ ಹಾಗೆ ಇಳಿದು ಬಾ; ಅವನನ್ನು ಅರಸನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಡುವ ಭಾರವು ನಮ್ಮದು ಅಂದರು.
21 ಆಗ ಸೌಲನು--ನೀವು ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕನಿಕರಪಟ್ಟ ಕಾರಣ ಕರ್ತನಿಂದ ನಿಮಗೆ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದವಾಗಲಿ.
22 ನೀವು ದಯಮಾಡಿ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವನ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ಇಡುವ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದವರು ಯಾರು ಎಂಬದನ್ನೂ ಇನ್ನೂ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮವಾಗಿ ತಿಳುಕೊಂಡು ನೋಡಿರಿ;
23 ಅವನು ಬಹು ಉಪಾಯದಿಂದ ಪ್ರವರ್ತಿಸುತ್ತಾ ನೆಂದು ನನಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅವನು ಅಡಗಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ರಹಸ್ಯ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ತಿಳುಕೊಂಡು ನಿಜವಾದ ವರ್ತಮಾನವನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬನ್ನಿರಿ; ಆಗ ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಬಂದು ಅವನು ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರೆ ಯೆಹೂದದ ಸಹಸ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕ ಹೋಗುವೆನು ಅಂದನು.
24 ಆದದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ಎದ್ದು ಸೌಲನ ಮುಂದೆ ಜೀಫಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟು ಹೋದರು. ಆದರೆ ದಾವೀದನೂ ಅವನ ಜನರೂ ಯೆಷಿಮೋನಿನ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ದಿಕ್ಕಿನ ಬೈಲಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಮಾವೋನಿನ ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರು.
25 ಸೌಲನೂ ಅವನ ಮನುಷ್ಯರೂ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಲು ಬಂದರು. ಇದು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಾಗ ಅವನು ಬಂಡೆಗೆ ಇಳಿದು ಮಾವೋನಿನ ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸಿದನು. ಅದನ್ನು ಸೌಲನು ಕೇಳಿ ಮಾವೋನಿನ ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ದಾವೀದ ನನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿದನು.
26 ಸೌಲನು ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಕಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋದನು; ದಾವೀದನೂ ಅವನ ಜನರೂ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಆ ಕಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋದರು; ಸೌಲನಿಗೆ ಭಯ ಪಟ್ಟು ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಲು ದಾವೀದನು ತ್ವರೆ ಮಾಡುವಾಗ ಸೌಲನೂ ಅವನ ಮನುಷ್ಯರೂ ಹಿಡಿ ಯುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸುತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡರು.
27 ಆದರೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ದೂತನು ಸೌಲನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು--ನೀನು ತ್ವರೆಯಾಗಿ ಬಾ; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ದೇಶದ ಮೇಲೆ ದಂಡೆತ್ತಿ ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಅಂದನು.
28 ಸೌಲನು ದಾವೀದನನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟುವದನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯ ರಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಹೋದನು. ಆದಕಾರಣ ಆ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಶಿಲಾಹಮಹ್ಲೆಕೋತ್ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟರು.
19 Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?
20 Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of thy soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king’s hand.
21 And Saul said, Blessed be ye of the Lord; for ye have compassion on me.
22 Go, I pray you, prepare yet, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who hath seen him there: for it is told me that he dealeth very subtilly.
23 See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hideth himself, and come ye again to me with the certainty, and I will go with you: and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the thousands of Judah.
24 And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul: but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon.
25 Saul also and his men went to seek him. And they told David: wherefore he came down into a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.
26 And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them.
27 But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land.
28 Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Sela-hammahlekoth.

Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of thy soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king’s hand.
21 ಆಗ ಸೌಲನು--ನೀವು ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕನಿಕರಪಟ್ಟ ಕಾರಣ ಕರ್ತನಿಂದ ನಿಮಗೆ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದವಾಗಲಿ.
And Saul said, Blessed be ye of the Lord; for ye have compassion on me.
22 ನೀವು ದಯಮಾಡಿ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವನ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ಇಡುವ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದವರು ಯಾರು ಎಂಬದನ್ನೂ ಇನ್ನೂ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮವಾಗಿ ತಿಳುಕೊಂಡು ನೋಡಿರಿ;
Go, I pray you, prepare yet, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who hath seen him there: for it is told me that he dealeth very subtilly.
23 ಅವನು ಬಹು ಉಪಾಯದಿಂದ ಪ್ರವರ್ತಿಸುತ್ತಾ ನೆಂದು ನನಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅವನು ಅಡಗಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ರಹಸ್ಯ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ತಿಳುಕೊಂಡು ನಿಜವಾದ ವರ್ತಮಾನವನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬನ್ನಿರಿ; ಆಗ ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಬಂದು ಅವನು ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರೆ ಯೆಹೂದದ ಸಹಸ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕ ಹೋಗುವೆನು ಅಂದನು.

24 ಆದದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ಎದ್ದು ಸೌಲನ ಮುಂದೆ ಜೀಫಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟು ಹೋದರು. ಆದರೆ ದಾವೀದನೂ ಅವನ ಜನರೂ ಯೆಷಿಮೋನಿನ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ದಿಕ್ಕಿನ ಬೈಲಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಮಾವೋನಿನ ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರು.
And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul: but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon.
25 ಸೌಲನೂ ಅವನ ಮನುಷ್ಯರೂ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಲು ಬಂದರು. ಇದು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಾಗ ಅವನು ಬಂಡೆಗೆ ಇಳಿದು ಮಾವೋನಿನ ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸಿದನು. ಅದನ್ನು ಸೌಲನು ಕೇಳಿ ಮಾವೋನಿನ ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ದಾವೀದ ನನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿದನು.
Saul also and his men went to seek him. And they told David: wherefore he came down into a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.
26 ಸೌಲನು ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಕಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋದನು; ದಾವೀದನೂ ಅವನ ಜನರೂ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಆ ಕಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋದರು; ಸೌಲನಿಗೆ ಭಯ ಪಟ್ಟು ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಲು ದಾವೀದನು ತ್ವರೆ ಮಾಡುವಾಗ ಸೌಲನೂ ಅವನ ಮನುಷ್ಯರೂ ಹಿಡಿ ಯುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸುತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡರು.
And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them.
27 ಆದರೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ದೂತನು ಸೌಲನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು--ನೀನು ತ್ವರೆಯಾಗಿ ಬಾ; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ದೇಶದ ಮೇಲೆ ದಂಡೆತ್ತಿ ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಅಂದನು.
But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land.
28 ಸೌಲನು ದಾವೀದನನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟುವದನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯ ರಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಹೋದನು. ಆದಕಾರಣ ಆ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಶಿಲಾಹಮಹ್ಲೆಕೋತ್ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟರು.
Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Sela-hammahlekoth.
