ஆகையால் நீங்கள் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்து, அவரை உத்தமமும் உண்மையுமாய்ச் சேவித்து, உங்கள் பிதாக்கள் நதிக்கு அப்புறத்திலும் எகிப்திலும் சேவித்த தேவர்களை அகற்றிவிட்டு, கர்த்தரைச் சேவியுங்கள்.

பின் யோசுவா ஜனங்களை நோக்கி, “இப்போது நீங்கள் கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டீர்கள். எனவே நீங்கள் கர்த்தரை மதித்து அவருக்கு உண்மையாக சேவை செய்யவேண்டும். உங்கள் முற்பிதாக்கள் ஆராதித்த பொய்த் தெய்வங்களை வீசியெறிந்து விடுங்கள். ஐபிராத்து நதியின் மறுகரையிலும் எகிப்திலும் பலகாலங்களுக்கு முன்னர் அவ்வாறு நிகழ்ந்தது. இப்போது கர்த்தருக்கு மட்டுமே சேவை செய்யுங்கள்.
