Jeremiah 22:18
इसलिये योशिय्याह के पुत्र यहूदा के राजा यहोयाकीम के विषय में यहोवा यह कहता है, कि जैसे लोग इस रीति से कह कर रोते हैं, हाय मेरे भाई, हाय मेरी बहिन! इस प्रकार कोई हाय मेरे प्रभु वा हाय तेरा वैभव कह कर उसके लिये विलाप न करेगा।

मरे हुओं के लिये मत रोओ, उसके लिये विलाप मत करो। उसी के लिये फूट फूटकर रोओ जो परदेश चला गया है, क्योंकि वह लौट कर अपनी जन्मभूमि को फिर कभी देखने न पाएगा।

और यिर्मयाह ने योशिय्याह के लिये विलाप का गीत बनाया और सब गाने वाले और गाने वालियां अपने विलाप के गीतों में योशिय्याह की चर्चा आज तक करती हैं। और इनका गाना इस्राएल में एक विधि के तुल्य ठहराया गया और ये बातें विलापगीतों में लिखी हुई हैं।

तू शान्ति के साथ मरेगा। और जैसा तेरे पितरों के लिये अर्थात जो तुझ से पहिले राजा थे, उनके लिये सुगन्ध द्रव्य जलाया गया, वैसा ही तेरे लिये भी जलाया जाएगा; और लोग यह कहकर, हाय मेरे प्रभु! तेरे लिये छाती पीटेंगे, यहोवा की यही वाणी है।
