1 Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,इन बातों के बाद अर्थात फारस के राजा अर्तक्षत्र के दिनों में, एज्रा बाबेल से यरूशलेम को गया। वह सरायाह का पुत्र था। और सरायाह अजर्याह का पुत्र था, अजर्याह हिल्किय्याह का,

2 the son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub,हिल्किय्याह शल्लूम का, शल्लूम सादोक का, शदोक अहीतूब का, अहीतूब अमर्याह का, अमर्याह अजर्याह का,

3 the son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth,अजर्याह मरायोत का,

4 the son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki,मरायोत जरह्याह का, जरह्याह उज्जी का, उज्जी बुक्की का,

5 the son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest;बुक्की अबीशू का, अबीशू पीनहास का, पीनहास एलीआज़र का और एलीआज़र हारून महायाजक का पुत्र था।

6 this Ezra went up from Babylon: and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which Yahweh, the God of Israel, had given; and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of Yahweh his God on him.यही एज्रा मूसा की व्यवस्था के विष्य जिसे इस्राएल के परमेश्वर यहोवा ने दी थी, निपुण शास्त्री था। और उसके परमेश्वर यहोवा की कृपादृष्टि जो उस पर रही, इसके कारण राजा ने उसका मुंह मांगा वर दे दिया।

7 There went up some of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinim, to Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.और कितने इस्राएली, और याजक लेवीय, गवैये, और द्वारपाल और नतीन के कुछ लोग अर्तक्षत्र राजा के सातवें वर्ष में यरूशलेम को ले गए।

8 He came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.और वह राजा के सातवें वर्ष के पांचवें महीने में यरूशलेम को पहुंचा।

9 For on the first [day] of the first month began he to go up from Babylon; and on the first [day] of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God on him.पहिले महीने के पहिले दिन को वह बाबेल से चल दिया, और उसके परमेश्वर की कृपादृष्टि उस पर रही, इस कारएा पांचवें महीने के पहिले दिन वह यरूशलेम को पहुंचा।

10 For Ezra had set his heart to seek the law of Yahweh, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and ordinances.क्योंकि एज्रा ने यहोवा की व्यवस्था का अर्थ बूझ लेने, और उसके अनुसार चलने, और इस्राएल में विधि और नियम सिखाने के लिये अपना मन लगाया था।

11 Now this is the copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave to Ezra the priest, the scribe, even the scribe of the words of the commandments of Yahweh, and of his statutes to Israel:जो चिट्ठी राजा अर्तक्षत्र ने एज्रा याजक और शास्त्री को दी थी जो यहोवा की आज्ञाओं के वचनों का, और उसकी इस्राएलियों में चलाई हुई विधियों का शास्त्री था, उसकी नकल यह है;

12 Artaxerxes, king of kings, to Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect and so forth.अर्थात, एज्रा याजक जो स्वर्ग के परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था का पूर्ण शास्त्री है, उसको अर्तक्षत्र महाराजाधिराज की ओर से, इत्यादि।

13 I make a decree, that all those of the people of Israel, and their priests and the Levites, in my realm, who are minded of their own free will to go to Jerusalem, go with you.मैं यह आज्ञा देता हूँ, कि मेरे राज्य में जितने इस्राएली और उनके याजक और लेवीय अपनी इच्छा से यरूशलेम जाना चाहें, वे तेरे साथ जाने पाएं।

14 Because you are sent of the king and his seven counselors, to inquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of your God which is in your hand,तू तो राजा और उसके सातों मंत्रियों की ओर से इसलिये भेजा जाता है, कि अपने परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था के विषय जो तेरे पास है, यहूदा और यरूशलेम की दशा बूझ ले,

15 and to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counselors have freely offered to the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem,और जो चान्दी-सोना, राजा और उसके मत्रियों ने इस्राएल के परमेश्वर को जिसका निवास यरूशलेम में है, अपनी इच्छा से दिया है,

16 and all the silver and gold that you shall find in all the province of Babylon, with the freewill-offering of the people, and of the priests, offering willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem;और जितना चान्दी-सोना कुल बाबेल प्रान्त में तुझे मिलेगा, और जो कुछ लोग और याजक अपनी इच्छा से अपने परमेश्वर के भवन के लिये जो यरूशलेम में हैं देंगे, उसको ले जाए।

17 therefore you shall with all diligence buy with this money bulls, rams, lambs, with their meal-offerings and their drink-offerings, and shall offer them on the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.इस कारण तू उस रुपये से फुतीं के साथ बैल, मेढ़े और मेम्ने उनके योग्य अन्नबलि और अर्घ की वस्तुओं समेत मोल लेना और उस वेदी पर चढ़ाना, जो तुम्हारे परमेश्वर के यरूशलेम वाले भवन में है।

18 Whatever shall seem good to you and to your brothers to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, that do you after the will of your God.और जो चान्दी-सोना बचा रहे, उस से जो कुछ तुझे और तेरे भाइयों को उचित जान पड़े, वही अपने परमेश्वर की इच्छा के अनुसार करना।

19 The vessels that are given you for the service of the house of your God, deliver you before the God of Jerusalem.और तेरे परमेश्वर के भवन की उपासना के लिये जो पात्र तुझे सौपे जाते हैं, उन्हें यरूशलेम के परमेश्वर के साम्हने दे देना।

20 Whatever more shall be needful for the house of your God, which you shall have occasion to bestow, bestow it out of the king's treasure-house.और इन से अधिक जो कुछ तुझे अपने परमेश्वर के भवन के लिये आवश्यक जान कर देना पड़े, वह राजखजाने में से दे देना।

21 I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do make a decree to all the treasurers who are beyond the River, that whatever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done with all diligence,मैं अर्तक्षत्र राजा यह आज्ञा देता हूँ, कि तुम महानद के पार के सब खजांचियों से जो कुछ एज्रा याजक, जो स्वर्ग के परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था का शास्त्री है, तुम लोगों से चाहे, वह फुतीं के साथ किया जाए।

22 to one hundred talents of silver, and to one hundred measures of wheat, and to one hundred baths of wine, and to one hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much.अर्थात सौ किक्कार तक चान्दी, सौ कोर तक गेहूं, सौ बत तक दाखमधु, सौ बत तक तेल और नमक जितना चाहिये उतना दिया जाए।

23 Whatever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be done exactly for the house of the God of heaven; for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?जो जो आज्ञा स्वर्ग के परमेश्वर की ओर से मिले, ठीक उसी के अनुसार स्वर्ग के परमेश्वर के भवन के लिये किया जाय, राजा और राजकुमारों के राज्य पर परमेश्वर का क्रोध क्यों भड़कने पाए।

24 Also we inform you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, the singers, porters, Nethinim, or servants of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose tribute, custom, or toll, on them.फिर हम तुम को चिता देते हैं, कि परमेश्वर के उस भवन के किसी याजक, लेवीय, गवैये, द्वारपाल, नतीन था और किसी सेवक से कर, चुंगी, अथवा राहदारी लेने की आज्ञा नहीं है।

25 You, Ezra, after the wisdom of your God who is in your hand, appoint magistrates and judges, who may judge all the people who are beyond the River, all such as know the laws of your God; and teach you him who doesn't know them.फिर हे एज्रा! तेरे परमेश्वर से मिली हुई बुद्धि के अनुसार जो तुझ में है, न्यायियों और विचार करने वालों को नियुक्त कर जो महानद के पार रहने वाले उन सब लोगों में जो तेरे परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था जानते हों न्याय किया करें; और जो जो उन्हें न जानते हों, उन को तुम सिखाया करो।

26 Whoever will not do the law of your God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed on him with all diligence, whether it be to death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.और जो कोई तेरे परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था और राजा की व्यवस्था न माने, उसको फुतीं से दण्ड दिया जाए, चाहे प्राणदण्ड, चाहे देश निकाला, चाहे माल जप्त किया जाना, चाहे कैद करना।

27 Blessed be Yahweh, the God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of Yahweh which is in Jerusalem;धन्य है हमारे पितरों का परमेश्वर यहोवा, जिसने ऐसी मनसा राजा के मन में उत्पन्न की है, कि यहोवा के यरूशलेम के भवन को संवारे,

28 and has extended loving kindness to me before the king, and his counselors, and before all the king's mighty princes. I was strengthened according to the hand of Yahweh my God on me, and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.और मूझ पर राजा और उसके मंत्रियों और राजा के सब बड़े हाकिमों को दयालु किया। मेरे परमेश्वर यहोवा की कृपादृष्टि जो मुझ पर हुई, इसके अनुसार मैं ने हियाव बान्धा, और इस्राएल में से मुख्य पुरुषों को इकट्ठा किया, कि वे मेरे संग चलें।
