परन्तु दानिय्येल ने अपने मन में ठान लिया कि वह राजा का भोजन खाकर, और उसके पीने का दाखमधु पीकर अपवित्र न होए; इसलिये उसने खोजों के प्रधान से बिनती की कि उसे अपवित्र न होना पड़े।

defile himself יִתְגָּאַ֛ל gāʾal ɡa-AL
meat, בְּפַתְבַּ֥ג patbag paht-BAHɡ
with the portion of the king's הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ melek meh-LEK
nor with the wine וּבְיֵ֣ין yayin ya-YEEN
which he drank: מִשְׁתָּ֑יו mište meesh-TEH
therefore he requested וַיְבַקֵּשׁ֙ bāqaš ba-KAHSH
of the prince מִשַּׂ֣ר śar sahr
of the eunuchs הַסָּרִיסִ֔ים sārîs sa-REES
that אֲשֶׁ֖ר ʾăšer uh-SHER
he might not לֹ֥א lōʾ loh
defile himself. יִתְגָּאָֽל׃ gāʾal ɡa-AL
